Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

                                     Hello Everyone! Happy November!

november
November for most states, is a time of change when the weather starts to drop in temp and the leaves fall from the trees in all shades of reds, yellow, and browns but if you are like me and live in Florida, we get none of that. I get to enjoy the change of season by either watching it on my phone or the TV (*sighs sadly*).

I am so excited for today’s post! Nintendo has recently released news about their newest mobile game app, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, which is set to release sometime this month! animalcrossing1

The game will be free to download for Apple/Android users with in-App purchases. Players will be able to create and manage a unique campsite for all of their animal friends to enjoy! I don’t know about you, but this sounds pretty awesome and different from most other games on the market already! The game will feature special events and will have updates through the course of the game.

Now, I only know of one person who is playing the Beta version of the game now and I hate them. I mean, I don’t hate them but like really, really, really, really dislike them. mineYes, I am super jealous of them and even thought about stealing their phone so I could play and for it to be ALL MINE….. But I think they live in a different state now and that seems like a lot of trouble to go through, so I think I’ll just wait.

Pocket Camp will give players the chance to build furniture, create fun amenities like a Merry-go-Round or Half-Pipe for animal friends to enjoy, decorate your campsite and camper, gather fruit, collect bugs, make friends and earn rewards, and so much more! Whoo that was a lot to list. Basically, you want to have the coolest and most popular campsite so that way you and all of your animal friends can enjoy it together! As of now, you can pre-register to receive updates of when you will be able to download the game. Don’t worry, I have already pre-registered a few days ago!newanimal.png

I will be downloading this as soon as it releases and will totally post about my experience, my camp, and all the fun I am having with this game. I haven’t even played it yet and  I already think it will be the best ever! I use to play Animal Crossing when it came out for the DS and the Wii so this will be interesting to have it on my phone. If you want to pre-register or learn more about the game, you can visit their site Animal Crossing here.

If you have any thoughts or are already playing the game, let me know in the comments down below!

30 Day Video Game Challenge: Day 11!

Happy Sunday Night Novas! The post is coming late today because I wasn’t able to write it earlier. Hey, better late than never am I right? For those of you who are new to the blog, at the beginning of June we joined in with other bloggers on the 30 day blog challenge. Basically, we are responding to questions and blogging about them every day for 30 days! Feel free to comment or join us on this excursion. Let’s see what today’s topic is…

Day 11 – Gaming system of choice.

Great topic! There’s different gaming systems and platforms for gamers to use to play their favorite games. This answer won’t be much of a surprise to Novas that have been following for a while. I’ve decided to answer this question in 2 parts: My favorite current console and my all time favorite console. My favorite gaming system currently is the Xbox One. I prefer the Xbox One console to the PS4 or to PC for many reasons.

  • I love the controller
  • I love that I can hook my cable box up and watch tv as I play
  • I love Microsoft
  • Xbox has my favorite game… Gears of War 4

The second part of my answer to today’s question will be my overall favorite console of all time. It’s going to have to be the Nintendo 64. I’ve already paid my respects to this gaming system in one of the Throwback posts.Click Here to read it! Pretty much the Nintendo 64 provided me with awesome memories as a kid. Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Wave Race, Diddy Kong Racing, Pokemon Snap, Mario Party, etc.

Plenty of awesome memories that I will not forget and the 64 is the reason why.

Those are my 2 answers for favorite video game system, what are yours? Do you agree with my choices? Let’s talk gaming consoles!

Throwback Tuesday: Nintendo 64

Hiya Gamers and Friends! Today’s Throwback Thursday post will highlight one of my favorite gaming systems of all times, the Nintendo 64. The Nintendo 64 or N64 for short was released back in 1996 for both the Japanese and North American markets. N64 was the 3rd system released by Nintendo and brought with it some of the more revolutionary games, titles and advancements for it’s time. Let’s jump into some facts about our N64.

The Name: Not many people know why the console was called the Nintendo 64. Obviously the “Nintendo” part was branding the company but why the 64? Easy, the 64 referred to the (then) amazing 64 bit processing system that the console consisted of. It was light years above the Sega and Super Nintendo consoles and the graphics were amazing for that time frame.

The Composition: Another awesome feature of the N64 was the way it was built along with its capabilities.  n64   The N64 in my knowledge was the first system I had that allowed more than 2 people to play at one time! We had 4 regular plug in slots!!!! It made waiting for your turn to play on relevantly non existence. Also the controller was a spectacle in itself. This controller was the first of it’s kind consisting of 3 handles and a joystick! I still remember trying to hold the controller for the first time and the trigger on the back is still one of my favorite features for ANY console.

The Games: The Nintendo 64 produced some of the more iconic games that still reign high up on a gamers list of favorites.    n64 games  Some of these iconic games were Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye 007, Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario 64, Perfect Dark , Wave Race, Pokemon Stadium, Mario Party, Diddy Kong Racing(see Throwback Tuesday post here! )and Super Smash Bros. If you haven’t played some or any pf the games listed here then you are missing out!

Super Mario 64– Super Mario 64 to some may seem like just another Mario game, however, this game really pushed the boundaries of the gaming world. It was the first time that the gamer was able to explore different camera angles, movements and actions as compared to the Side Scrolling predecessors. Compare the difference below.

As you can see Mario used his Mushroom to upgrade to a revolutionary character in the Nintendo 64. Along with Super Mario was the introduction of one of the best racing game Mario Kart 64! Mario Kart 64 allowed you to race with your favorite Mario characters through customized maps like Donkey Kong Jungle and Yoshi’s Island! You were able to do a traditional race or a battle where your goal was to eliminate the other players. What made this game amazing was that you would use items from a traditional Mario game like Shells and Stars in order to slow down or get away from your opponents. Not only did you want to be a skilled racer (Yoshi with the smooth moves 🙂 ) but you also had to play strategically to not get hit or stop your opponents.

Since Mario 64 and Mario Kart were massive hits, why not continue this trend of Mario games by unleashing my all time favorite Nintendo game; Mario Party! Mario Party was a multiplayer digital board game that allowed gamers to play as their favorite Mario characters in mini games to earn coins and stars. You win the game by satisfying the win requirement or having the most Stars at the end of the game. Of course there were twists in the game like “Taking it to Boo!” I was a fair player until someone did me dirty, then I would take it to Boo and steal either coins or Stars from the person who double crossed me.   mario party boo  Mario Party is still one of my favorite games from Nintendo and I hope the new Nintendo Switch keeps the franchise alive!

Wave Race-    wave race  Wave Race was an awesome Jet skiing racing game in which you could either race or play the Trick mode. I played trick mode the most because I loved learning new tricks like he “Barrel Roll” and using them in a traditional race to show off! Wave Race was really fun traversing the different maps and trying to earn the most medals. Dolphin Park was my favorite map!

Goldeneye 007- I couldn’t end the post without mentioning the Godfather of all FPS games, Goldeneye 007. This game was so amazing from the use of the weapons to playing the missions to playing with your friends and family! I believe this game gave First Person Shooters their life. I can still remember having tons of fun making up rules like you can’t use odd job or the female scientist because they were HACKS!   odd job   Odd job was too short to aim at and the female scientist may as well have been the Flash with her speed. We also took out the Golden Gun because 1 shot kills with that thing were crazy, but occasionally we would play on License to Kill mode! Sometimes my brother and I would make challenges with our friends like rockets only (That was hilarious!). The DD214 was my favorite pistol and I had to find the AK-47 to mow down my enemies. Goldeneye, thank you! From a lover of FPS games thank you, you are where my love for a good FPS began.

There are plenty of notable games not mentioned like Snowboard Kids, Pokemon Stadium and the Wrestling games, however, I can’t mention all of them here. What did you like about the N64? What were some of your favorite games? Let’s talk N64!

Have a great day!

Throwback Tuesday: Handheld Gaming

Happy Tuesday Gamers, Geeks and Friends! I was really excited about this week’s post for Throwback Tuesday we will be taking that nostalgic journey back to Handheld Gaming! Let’s get right to the trip down memory lane. Sidenote: I have some surprise entries for Handheld gaming that may not immediately come to mind. We will start with a well know handheld classic.

Gameboy Color: game_boy_color Gameboy Color was an awesome handheld system that released on October 21, 1998. What were you doing in 1998? Myself, I was in maybe 7th grade jamming out to Backstreet Boys and 98 degrees! some of the games we played were Rampage: World Tour, Pokemon Red and Blue, Super Mario Deluxe and Tetris!

Sega Game Gear: The Sega Game Gear was awesome and came out October 6th, 1990. this handheld was the game-gear combatant of Nintendo’s well know original Gameboy! Some of the Game Gear games were Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble, Batter Up and Double Dragon! Funny story- My brother and I were blessed to have the Game Gears presented to us as an early birthday present (we are both born in April). Our first game was the Batter Up Baseball game that we took EVERYWHERE! This is where it gets interesting. We wanted to have new rollerblades to go skating with and our grandmother gave us the ultimatum; Gamer Gear or Skates. We really took the skates lol. What kid can you tell me today would make the same choice? We had a blast with the rollerblades though going to parks, birthday parties and all.

Giga Pet/Tamagotchi : When you first giga clicked on this post, did you think that the Giga Pets would make a cameo? Many of us have forgotten that this tiny virtual, handheld was essentially a video game. The Giga Pet was released in 1997 as a competitor for the Tamagotchi. The premise was to take care of your little monsters/pets by feeding them, playing with them and even scooping up their messes (a more censored way to say it lol). I remember playing with my Giga Pet all of the time. I couldn’t get a real pet so this was the next best thing. These were the pride and joy of my middle school days. If I recall you were able to have “Play Dates” with your friend’s pets by tapping them together (or am I imaging that lol).

Tom & Jerry Handheld: This tom-and-jerry was one of my favorite handheld games back when the Tom & Jerry Movie was released in 1992. This handheld was so fun where you would jump over potholes and collect cookies. There were other handheld video games like this, but I personally had the Tom & Jerry version.

GameBoy: Last but not least gameboy-classic I couldn’t end the post without featuring the OG Gameboy Classics AKA The Brick! The classic was released on April 21st, 1989. What can I say, playing games like Dr. Mario and the original Tetris on the brick was awesome. Just think if someone wanted to mug you all you had to do was bop them over the head with that thing “FLAWLESS VICTORY!”

There are plenty other notable handhelds like the Gameboy Advance and PSP. What are some of your favorite handheld games? Do you remember the ones in my list? Let’s talk throwback handheld games!

Throwback Tuesday: Diddy Kong Racing

Hiya Gamers and Friends! Happy Tuesday 🙂 Today will be our weekly Throwback Tuesday post where I will feature, well you know something old and we can stroll down memory lane. This week will be one of my favorite Nintendo 64 games; Diddy Kong Racing!

Diddy Kong Racing is an awesome single or multiplayer racing game in which you are able to select your character and vehicle depending on the map. This game was awesome as you had a story mode, racing mode and battle mode. The colors and sound effects in the game were so bright and vibrant that you couldn’t help but smile while you play. did My favorite characters to play with were Pipsy (the little mouse) and Conker the squirrel! Just like in Mario Kart the characters that you would select affected specific racing attributes such as speed, power and handling so you would choose you characters wisely. You were able to choose some of your favorite characters like Diddy  or Banjo!

The Vehicles- You were able to select an airplane, a hovercraft or a race car for the various levels in which you would be competing. Story mode was cool because your boss battles consisted of beating the boss character in a 1 on 1 race, never mind the fact that all of the bosses were huge in comparison. did2All in all, Diddy Kong racing was an awesome game to play and my pick for this week’s Throwback Tuesday! What games do you miss playing? Have you ever played Diddy Kong Racing? What other racing games come to mind? Let’s talk retro/ old school!

Remember slow and steady wins … well not this race!
