Solbot Energy Rush: Mobile Game Review

Publisher: Freakout Games

Platform : IOS & Android

‘Solbot Energy Rush’ is a casual mobile game with easy one tap controls. Play as a robot and collect renewable energy resources as part of a space mission. Dodge tricky patterns, learn facts about saving energy to help the environment, and use fun power ups!

Premise:

sol

Solbot is an orb collecting indie game where the player will journey through space collecting energy orbs. What’s interesting about Solbot is that there is a very clear message to gamers ingrained in the story to raise awareness about the importance of energy.  screenshot_2018-09-10-21-34-111454103831.png Solbot is collecting these energy orbs to provide sustainable energy to the planets. It’s gaming with a message and the gamer can learn more about saving energy.

Sights & Sounds:

screenshot_2018-09-02-09-29-20129176400.png

You’re traveling through space collecting orbs so the visuals will be a galactic feel. The solbot is racing through space avoiding asteroids and collecting the energy orbs. Each level increases in difficulty due to the orbs and asteroids increasing in speed. What I love about the game is the use of Power- Ups randomly throughout the game. As the level increases, you will be introduced to new power ups like the Magnet or Fire Blasters that can appear at any time. If you collect a power up during the level, a usage bar coupled with an upbeat tempo counts down the life of that power up before you are back to moving back and forth.

The music is an upbeat galactic track. The use of the music changes when you are close to losing the life on your power ups helps out and lot and creates a sense of urgency.

Controls:

Players will tap to the left and right of their mobile screens to move Solbot in that direction while trying to avoid asteroids and collect energy orbs.

Difficulty:

sol2

The game increases in difficulty the higher the level. Currently, there are 50 levels in total. After completing all 50 levels, the difficulty wasn’t as high as I woud expect, however, going for the high score proves as a challenge. I would like to see the game expand in levels.

Replayability:

It’s a quick game of reflexes and the levels change the number as well as color of orbs to keep the gamer invested. It’s a great quick game to play when waiting on a break or lunch. Your progress is saved and the levels pass by quickly so you can hop in and out of Solbot at your leisure without having to dedicate any significant amount of time.

This is the section in my reviews where I like to list my top reason to  Play or Skip Solbot Energy Rush

Play:

  • A fun galactic game of reflex and skill
  • Easy game to learn and play with the family
  • Compete to see who can reach the highest score

Skip:

  • If you are not a fan of timing games

You can watch the trailer below!

Final Thoughts:

I have really enjoyed playing Solbot and most of my play time was done on a lunch or break at work. Once I dialed in, I wanted to keep progressing in level and the time really sped by. I will say that I would have liked to see the levels progress a bit more in scenery like maybe having Solbot fly through an actual planet to collect orbs and incorporate that into the story. I liked the relevance with sustainable, clean energy and I love that the game looks to have make an impact.

Pokemon Go Is Still A Thing? Welp, I’m Hooked!

Happy Thursday Novas! Recently, I have downloaded Pokemon Go again to play with some friends and I find myself sucked back into the black hole that once took over my free time when the mobile game first released. Upon re-downloading the game, I have noticed updates and now I’m in Pokemon Fever! Power up Players for my weekly update post on the Pokemon game!

Where I left off: I was level 7 when I re-downloaded Pokemon Go and I’m not sure how many Pokemon I had in my possession. I have been playing for about a week and I have 192 Pokemon.

New Pokemon:

The Pokemon In My Bedroom lol

After a week of playing I have added a variety of Pokemon to my collection. 57 New types of Pokemon have been caught.

screenshot_2018-03-14-23-28-24.png

Hatched- I hatched 3 eggs who turned out to be Meowth, Magmar and Bellsprout

Best Catch– Growlithe is my best catch of the week. I loveeee Growlithe and I was able to catch 2. Hopefully I can evolve one to Arcanine next week.

Strongest CP- My strongest CP catch was a Rhydon that I caught just before my Wednesday Night softball game. I caught Rhydon in the park where we play by the Activities Center (my brother Kenny and I placed lures on 2 side by side Pokestops and both pop incense to increase the number and frequency of wild Pokemon).

Discovery:

Since I didn’t really pay attention when I was playing Pokemon Go, I wasn’t aware of a few simple rules. I love that different locations and different conditions can affect the type of Pokemon you receive. For example, I live in a heavily populated area so I can catch Pokemon in my room and have 4 or 5 options. The weather, time of day and location will provide you with a variety of Pokemon options. CP is important but catching multiple Pokemon of the same type will give you candies needed to power up or evolve.

How to Battle Gyms– I fought in my first Gym Battle! This week I learned that you can team with other members of your color (Team Red for me) and attack a gym. If you win, everyone on your team can place 1 Pokemon to defend the gym.

Different Berries- The Nan Berry calms down aggressive Pokemon (Chikorita lol) and the Razz Berry makes the Pokemon easier to catch.

Gym Progress:

Roselia Is Holding Down The Fountain!

Defeated Gyms-3 out of 4 attempted Gyms

  Badges – 4 Badges Received

Pokemon Defending # & Type3 Pokemon Defending the Conquered Gyms, 2 Roselia and 1 Eggsecute.

Adventure Updates:

My friend and I have made a decision to go visit different Pokemon Spots like Parks and entertainment areas to evaluate what type of pokemon can be caught. We visited 2 spots this week and were able to rack up on the Pokemon and Poke Stops in the area.

Poke Spots Visited – 3 in total. Barnett Park, Millenia Mall and Artegon Mall.

Best Poke Spot & Why – The best spot this week was Artegon Mall because there are 6 Poke Stops, 1 Gym and 1 Raid within a 5 minute walk. I was able to fill my backpack on the Poke Stops and catch a few Pokemon in the interim.

Unusual Sightings – at the end of our adventure, there was a woman walking with her baby in jogger stroller and playing Pokemon Go! At first we were joking seeing her on her phone and walking, saying that it would be funny if she was playing Pokemon Go. Then she stopped and started rapidly swiping her screen, #Belluminati Confirmed! As we laughed, we couldn’t help but pull out our phones to see what she was trying to catch haha.

Current Eggs & Progress: 8 Eggs. Incubating 3 -10 Km and 1 -5 Km.

Screenshot_2018-03-14-23-28-47.png

Goals for Next Week: My goals for next week is to find a Dratini and evolve my Chikorita into a Bayleef.

That’s all for this week’s post! Are you still playing Pokemon Go? What are some of the best Poke Spots that you have found? Have there been any unusual sightings on your Pokemon Journey? Which Pokemon are your favorite? Who are you looking to catch? Let’s Talk Pokemon Go!

Rollerblade Pro Mobile Game Review!

Power up players for our mobile game review of Rollerblade Pro! This review is a bit overdue as I received the request from Gerry early in November. Now that I am free from the NaNoWriMo challenge, I am able to catch up on blogging and game requests.

Publisher: Saturn Games

Platforms: Android

Genre: Arcade

Description: Rollerblade through the street and tunnel to prove your rollerblading skills by attaining high scores and collecting coins.Skate for long without being killed by obstacles and become a pro, by ending the game !!! Use in game skills to dodge obstacles, like jet pack to fly high, and slow speed to slow down your skate speed, or double jump to dodge higher, obstacles.

Gameplay: Rollerblade Pro is a cool arcade style game in which your ultimate goal is to become a Rollerblade pro by ending the game! Play by swiping left and right on your screens in order to collect rings and dodge obstacles in your path. These obstacles can come in the for or cars, roadblocks and even stop signs! You will receive power ups such as super jump that can assist in helping you navigate the streets on your rollerblades, but beware, once used you cannot control the direction of your power ups.

Visuals & Sounds: The graphics are standard in this game and the controls are simple to use. I really enjoy the music associated with this game as it makes me feel like I’m about to watch a competitive rollerblader go to work! roller1

Difficulty: There is some skill and a learning curve associated with this game. I have to admit, I have not beat the game yet, but I’m determined to make that happen soon.

Areas of Improvement: The game was fun to review but I do have a few points of feedback for the developer to make the game more appealing and attractive. This is just my personal opinion and preference.

  • View – I found the game a bit difficult to play because the avatar that you use blocks most of the street in front of you. Maybe position the camera a bit higher or shrinking the avatar a bit would fix the problem.
  • Predictability – After playing the game a few times, I notice that I was memorizing the pattern of when a car would come or how many roadblocks were up. Maybe adding a bit more variety would assist.

Final Thoughts: I did enjoy playing and reviewing the game Rollerblade Pro. The easy controls of swiping left to right allowed me to collect rings and attempt to dodge oncoming traffic! There were a few areas of improvement that I would like to see implemented in the game in the future, but it is entirely my opinion on what would have made me enjoy the game more.

If you want to test out the game and become a RollderbladPro, the contact and download information is below:

Sky Islands Anime Avatar Resort Mobile Game Update!

Power-up Players for today’s progress post on the mobile game Sky Islands! If you didn’t read my initial game review of Sky Islands you can do so by clicking here! Since I have more space on my phone, I was able to redownload the Sky Island Game and pick up where I left off. This time the game has become a bit addicting and here’s why!

Garden – Gardening is one of the best ways to make money in Sky Islands. In your garden you are able to plant fruit and breed animals to help out with your villas. The fruit collected can be used in a few ways:

  • Make and Serve dishes to your villa customers for extra cash
  • Upgrade the furniture in your villa
  • Convert fruit into dyes that can be used in clothing or traded in on Clan Orders

screenshot_20171110-1053531793092115.png
I’m planting Snow Pearls and Greenos so that I can make a curry & rice dish!

Clans – My friend Xsanie (also the person who made me download the game in the first place) created a clan called Fairy Tail (yes, after the anime). Xsanie was upset that she couldn’t find active members so she persuaded me to redownload the game and join her clan. In a clan you can help out by donating to the clan, participating in boss hunts (only available at hunting skill level 3 or higher),  Clan Serves and Clan Orders. Every activity you perform with the clan contributes to the clan’s reputation and rewards.

Clan Orders for this week!

Boss Hunt – the Boss Hunt is where you go “Hunting” against other clans to defeat a giant creature with a binky in their mouth lol. You have to be Hunting Skill Level 3 or higher to participate in the boss hunts. Your goal is to deal more damage than the other clans. If your clan is top 10, you receive a bonus reward, if you are top 100 individually for the amount of damage dealt,  you receive a bonus reward.

screenshot_20171109-233928-425887708.png
Boss Hunt! We came in 4th place!

Fishing – Fishing was an aspect of the review that I did not touch on too much. This is because I didn’t understand how to fish, now I do! You have a magnet on your screen with a small radius. When the beast appears, you tap the screen to move the magnet over the the beast. Any time the beast is outside of the magnet your progress will decrease. If the progress bar gets too low, you will lose the beast. Your goal is to build that progress bar up until it is green and you have captured your prey.

screenshot_20171110-105734954564883.png

Events – We have just finished the Halloween Event where performing your daily tasks, quests or any activity on Sky Island would provide you with Halloween Themed Items. You would stock up on these items and visit the Community Park to turn them in for special chests. These chests provided special Halloween Decor, costumes and accessories. I anticipate there will be more Holiday events around the corner.

Halloween Decor At A Villa!

Things to Try:

  1. The mobile game has also integrated Pets into the game. I have yet to purchase a pet and raise it, but I will try it out soon.
  2. There are contests like the Fashionista Contest where the best dressed avatar with the most votes will receive a statue in the community park for a week, I believe.

Final Thoughts: This second go round of Sky Island has been really fun and I can see myself playing the game for at least a few more months. I check on my fruits and set rent on my villas to 3 hours at a time when I’m working. This way by my break time I can quickly collect my items and set another timer. The inclusion of a Clan mode is really awesome because now I’m working towards something. We want our clan to be one of the best and most renowned so I work extra hard at clan tasks. The social element of Sky Islands is really cool. Xsanie and I are members of the Sky Island Facebook Group and we have regular players that we talk.

Have you played Sky Islands? What games are you currently playing that have you addicted? Let’s talk mobile games and updates!

Asteroid Challenge: Mobile Game Review!

Happy Thursday Players! Last week I reached out to a mobile game company as they were looking for bloggers to review their game. Today I bring you that honest review! So grab your phones and get ready to read my thoughts and review on Asteroid Challenge!

Developer: Pavo Studios Games

Game Type: Mobile Game

Platform: Android and IOS

Genre: Real Time Strategy (RTS) / Arcade Shooter

Rating: E for Everyone

Description From Developer:

Asteroid Challenge is an attractive arcade space shooter, where you must defend your damaged spaceship from waves of asteroids. Your end goal is to escape the collapsing galaxy. In order to do that, you need to repair your spaceship. Energy packs keep coming. But asteroids keep coming too! And they are bigger than any time before! One asteroid impact and you are dead. For how long can you survive? Will you ever be able to escape?

Premise: Asteroid Challenge is a strategy shooter game in which you must repair your base and protect it from the impending doom of asteroids flying around. As you are protecting your ship by shooting the asteroids there will be energy and repair resources gained.

Playing The Game: So I dove straight in and played the tutorial. The graphics are a nice, clean look and I was able to navigate the screen smoothly. I didn’t notice any major issues with using the items or shooting the asteroids which is fantastic!

Game Guide: Playing the game was much more fun then I was initially expecting. I did not experience any lag or glaring while I was playing (even from playing outdoors). You tackle 2 different types of asteroids, the solid brown ones that explode on impact and the dusty, grey ones that will split into smaller fragments on impact. There are varying speeds and sizes of asteroids that make the game different each time your play.

ac
Collect energy while destroying ateroids!

To repair the fires (or use any items) you must collect energy resources while defending your spaceship. There are a few ways to collect resources. First you automatically start collecting resources every few seconds, second you let the small capsule shaped resources hit the base for a few more, Last you can let the large box icons hit the base for a mega bonus of resources.

3 Key Icons  are located at the bottom of the screen. They are Turret upgrades, Shields and Repair. The icons that you are able to use will light up when you have enough energy resources.

  • Turret Upgrades- clicking the turret upgrade icon will allow your turret to shoot quicker and rotate faster.
  • Shields – Clicking on the Shield icon will place up a shield for  about 4 seconds. The shields will instantly destroy any ateroids in the immediate area.
  • Repair – The repair icon fixes the fires on your ship. You have 5 fires that you must repair.

ac1
A clutch shield to save the day!

Controls: The game was very simple with the controls and I instantly knew what to do after a short tutorial. The controls consisted of tapping to the left and right of the screen to rotate the turret and selecting an upgrade from the bottom middle of the screen.

Sounds: The music fit perfectly with the stranded in space vibe. The sounds of the turret and the explosions of the asteroids were spot on and believable.

Learning Curve- There’s a bit of a learning curve when you first delve into the game. There’s not a spoiler ahead but if you prefer to figure it out on your own, please skip past the Pro Tip section.  Luna’s Pro Tip: Use both hands to play the game! At first I was using 1 finger to move the turret. The tip is to use both pointer fingers one for the right side and one for the left. This mechanic tremendously helped my progression in the game!

Luna’s Pro Tip #2: You can shoot the energy resources and blow up asteroids in the immediate area. This is a double-edged sword as when you blow up the resource, you cannot collect it for your energy.

Difficulty – I did find the game difficult at first as the asteroids evolve and approach at different speeds. You are forced to make choices on the spot and a minor oversight could end your game. The amount of energy resources needed increases by 10 with every fire repair. Luna’s Pro Tip #3: You can only collect as much energy as it takes for the next repair. This mechanic stops players from stockpiling energy and makes the game even more difficult. Great job Pavo!

Screenshot_20171016-120154
I didn’t realize Warp Drive was a thing lol

Level of Fun- I was excited that the game peaked my interest. I couldn’t wait to go on break and play another round of the game, searching for my first win! Personally, I love strategy games and trying to maneuver the obstacles to get through the level. Now I’m playing for the Leaderboards!

Replayability- This game has medium replayability to me because each game will be different. The asteroids are random so there’s a bit of difference each time, however, I would love to have more than 1 level to optimize the enjoyment.

Play:

  • Really enjoyed the difficulty of the game
  • It’s a fast and fun way to spend a few extra minutes of free time

Skip:

  • Not a fan or arcade shooters
  • Get frazzled easily
Screenshot_20171016-121559
I beat the game! I was close before but I didn’t realize that there was another part after fixing the fires 😉

Final Thoughts: To the developer I would like to say thank you for providing an enjoyable mobile game that’s perfect to play on breaks at work. I would enjoy more levels where the game gets harder or you have to not only repair the fires and escape, but possibly add on additional tasks. I really enjoyed the game and even after completing it, I still find myself opening the game on my phone to play a few quick rounds. I definitely enjoyed the game and I can see potential to update the game and continue adding to it!

My rating:

imageedit_3_3668639108imageedit_3_3668639108imageedit_3_3668639108imageedit_3_3668639108imageedit_10_9806928873

4 Power-ups out of 5!
