Power up players for our mobile game review of Rollerblade Pro! This review is a bit overdue as I received the request from Gerry early in November. Now that I am free from the NaNoWriMo challenge, I am able to catch up on blogging and game requests.
Publisher: Saturn Games
Description:Rollerblade through the street and tunnel to prove your rollerblading skills by attaining high scores and collecting coins.Skate for long without being killed by obstacles and become a pro, by ending the game !!! Use in game skills to dodge obstacles, like jet pack to fly high, and slow speed to slow down your skate speed, or double jump to dodge higher, obstacles.
Gameplay: Rollerblade Pro is a cool arcade style game in which your ultimate goal is to become a Rollerblade pro by ending the game! Play by swiping left and right on your screens in order to collect rings and dodge obstacles in your path. These obstacles can come in the for or cars, roadblocks and even stop signs! You will receive power ups such as super jump that can assist in helping you navigate the streets on your rollerblades, but beware, once used you cannot control the direction of your power ups.
Visuals & Sounds: The graphics are standard in this game and the controls are simple to use. I really enjoy the music associated with this game as it makes me feel like I’m about to watch a competitive rollerblader go to work!
Difficulty:There is some skill and a learning curve associated with this game. I have to admit, I have not beat the game yet, but I’m determined to make that happen soon.
Areas of Improvement:The game was fun to review but I do have a few points of feedback for the developer to make the game more appealing and attractive. This is just my personal opinion and preference.
View – I found the game a bit difficult to play because the avatar that you use blocks most of the street in front of you. Maybe position the camera a bit higher or shrinking the avatar a bit would fix the problem.
Predictability – After playing the game a few times, I notice that I was memorizing the pattern of when a car would come or how many roadblocks were up. Maybe adding a bit more variety would assist.
Final Thoughts: I did enjoy playing and reviewing the game Rollerblade Pro. The easy controls of swiping left to right allowed me to collect rings and attempt to dodge oncoming traffic! There were a few areas of improvement that I would like to see implemented in the game in the future, but it is entirely my opinion on what would have made me enjoy the game more.
If you want to test out the game and become a RollderbladPro, the contact and download information is below:
Power-up Players for today’s progress post on the mobile game Sky Islands! If you didn’t read my initial game review of Sky Islands you can do so by clicking here! Since I have more space on my phone, I was able to redownload the Sky Island Game and pick up where I left off. This time the game has become a bit addicting and here’s why!
Garden – Gardening is one of the best ways to make money in Sky Islands. In your garden you are able to plant fruit and breed animals to help out with your villas. The fruit collected can be used in a few ways:
Make and Serve dishes to your villa customers for extra cash
Upgrade the furniture in your villa
Convert fruit into dyes that can be used in clothing or traded in on Clan Orders
Clans – My friend Xsanie (also the person who made me download the game in the first place) created a clan called Fairy Tail (yes, after the anime). Xsanie was upset that she couldn’t find active members so she persuaded me to redownload the game and join her clan. In a clan you can help out by donating to the clan, participating in boss hunts (only available at hunting skill level 3 or higher), Clan Serves and Clan Orders. Every activity you perform with the clan contributes to the clan’s reputation and rewards.
Boss Hunt – the Boss Hunt is where you go “Hunting” against other clans to defeat a giant creature with a binky in their mouth lol. You have to be Hunting Skill Level 3 or higher to participate in the boss hunts. Your goal is to deal more damage than the other clans. If your clan is top 10, you receive a bonus reward, if you are top 100 individually for the amount of damage dealt, you receive a bonus reward.
Fishing – Fishing was an aspect of the review that I did not touch on too much. This is because I didn’t understand how to fish, now I do! You have a magnet on your screen with a small radius. When the beast appears, you tap the screen to move the magnet over the the beast. Any time the beast is outside of the magnet your progress will decrease. If the progress bar gets too low, you will lose the beast. Your goal is to build that progress bar up until it is green and you have captured your prey.
Events – We have just finished the Halloween Event where performing your daily tasks, quests or any activity on Sky Island would provide you with Halloween Themed Items. You would stock up on these items and visit the Community Park to turn them in for special chests. These chests provided special Halloween Decor, costumes and accessories. I anticipate there will be more Holiday events around the corner.
Things to Try:
The mobile game has also integrated Pets into the game. I have yet to purchase a pet and raise it, but I will try it out soon.
There are contests like the Fashionista Contest where the best dressed avatar with the most votes will receive a statue in the community park for a week, I believe.
Final Thoughts: This second go round of Sky Island has been really fun and I can see myself playing the game for at least a few more months. I check on my fruits and set rent on my villas to 3 hours at a time when I’m working. This way by my break time I can quickly collect my items and set another timer. The inclusion of a Clan mode is really awesome because now I’m working towards something. We want our clan to be one of the best and most renowned so I work extra hard at clan tasks. The social element of Sky Islands is really cool. Xsanie and I are members of the Sky Island Facebook Group and we have regular players that we talk.

Power Up Players, get your hard drives ready for another mobile video game review! This time we are reviewing the ball bouncing dot game Spurt Dot!
Spurt dot is an interactive brick breaking game in which the player taps the screen to break bricks, collect stars and avoid obstacles. The game has a great sense of a party as the colors are vibrant and the music in the background had me excited to play. There are 3 levels that will test the player’s skill and reaction times; Normal, Hard and Insane! Normal modes has a simple speed attached while Hard speeds up. Insane is just as it sounds, insanity for the quick reflexes of the challenger. I prefer the Normal mode lol.
Sights & Sounds: I enjoyed the simplistic design of the game. The colors are bright and vibrant so it is easy to spot where you will need to tap to control the ball. I really enjoyed the techno/ dance song that accompanies the game. It makes the task at hand feel like a party and increases the excitement.
Gameplay & Difficulty: The gameplay and controls are very easy. Tap the screen to bounce your ball while avoiding obstacles and pitfalls. You can rack up bonus points by collecting stars randomly marked on the colored bricks. Try and survive as long as possible! The different difficulty settings makes for a customized experience
Replayability: I can see Spurt Dot being a game that you can play when you have a few minutes of time to spare. Because of its simple design and unlimited play time, I find myself playing to see how long I can last. Currently my highest score for Normal difficulty is 54.
Final Thoughts:I did enjoy playing the game, however, it does seem endless. I know that is built by design but I would prefer to have goals set by the game. Maybe incorporate an arcade mode and a zen mode. The zen mode can be the endless tapping and race against your highest score and the arcade mode can be a set target where you reach a total score and move on. Maybe making it progressive where the speed, obstacles and pitfalls increase in difficulty. That would be awesome.
This is the section of the review where I note my top reasons to Play or Skip the mobile app!
Endless brick breaking fun (the classics are where it’s at!)
A chance to test your reflexes (and improve your skill) with the different game speeds
A quick game that’s pretty entertaining and great music
If you prefer progressive games that have a set goal
If you get frustrated with games that test your reflexes
Check out the trailer below and if you enjoy the review and the game seems interesting, you can download it by clicking here!
I give Spurt Dot 3 out of 5 Power-ups!
Thank you to Josh from Appamate for the chance to review the game! What do you think of Spurt Dot? Do you like brick breaking games? Are you a fan of endless but fun games? Let’s talk video games!
Happy Thursday Players! Last week I reached out to a mobile game company as they were looking for bloggers to review their game. Today I bring you that honest review! So grab your phones and get ready to read my thoughts and review on Asteroid Challenge!
Asteroid Challenge is an attractive arcade space shooter, where you must defend your damaged spaceship from waves of asteroids. Your end goal is to escape the collapsing galaxy. In order to do that, you need to repair your spaceship. Energy packs keep coming. But asteroids keep coming too! And they are bigger than any time before! One asteroid impact and you are dead. For how long can you survive? Will you ever be able to escape?
Premise: Asteroid Challenge is a strategy shooter game in which you must repair your base and protect it from the impending doom of asteroids flying around. As you are protecting your ship by shooting the asteroids there will be energy and repair resources gained.
Playing The Game: So I dove straight in and played the tutorial. The graphics are a nice, clean look and I was able to navigate the screen smoothly. I didn’t notice any major issues with using the items or shooting the asteroids which is fantastic!
Game Guide:Playing the game was much more fun then I was initially expecting. I did not experience any lag or glaring while I was playing (even from playing outdoors). You tackle 2 different types of asteroids, the solid brown ones that explode on impact and the dusty, grey ones that will split into smaller fragments on impact. There are varying speeds and sizes of asteroids that make the game different each time your play.
To repair the fires (or use any items) you must collect energy resources while defending your spaceship. There are a few ways to collect resources. First you automatically start collecting resources every few seconds, second you let the small capsule shaped resources hit the base for a few more, Last you can let the large box icons hit the base for a mega bonus of resources.
3 Key Icons are located at the bottom of the screen. They are Turret upgrades, Shields and Repair. The icons that you are able to use will light up when you have enough energy resources.
Turret Upgrades- clicking the turret upgrade icon will allow your turret to shoot quicker and rotate faster.
Shields – Clicking on the Shield icon will place up a shield for about 4 seconds. The shields will instantly destroy any ateroids in the immediate area.
Repair – The repair icon fixes the fires on your ship. You have 5 fires that you must repair.
Controls: The game was very simple with the controls and I instantly knew what to do after a short tutorial. The controls consisted of tapping to the left and right of the screen to rotate the turret and selecting an upgrade from the bottom middle of the screen.
Sounds: The music fit perfectly with the stranded in space vibe. The sounds of the turret and the explosions of the asteroids were spot on and believable.
Learning Curve- There’s a bit of a learning curve when you first delve into the game. There’s not a spoiler ahead but if you prefer to figure it out on your own, please skip past the Pro Tip section. Luna’s Pro Tip:Use both hands to play the game! At first I was using 1 finger to move the turret. The tip is to use both pointer fingers one for the right side and one for the left. This mechanic tremendously helped my progression in the game!
Luna’s Pro Tip #2: You can shoot the energy resources and blow up asteroids in the immediate area. This is a double-edged sword as when you blow up the resource, you cannot collect it for your energy.
Difficulty –I did find the game difficult at first as the asteroids evolve and approach at different speeds. You are forced to make choices on the spot and a minor oversight could end your game. The amount of energy resources needed increases by 10 with every fire repair. Luna’s Pro Tip #3:You can only collect as much energy as it takes for the next repair. This mechanic stops players from stockpiling energy and makes the game even more difficult. Great job Pavo!
Level of Fun- I was excited that the game peaked my interest. I couldn’t wait to go on break and play another round of the game, searching for my first win! Personally, I love strategy games and trying to maneuver the obstacles to get through the level. Now I’m playing for the Leaderboards!
Replayability- This game has medium replayability to me because each game will be different. The asteroids are random so there’s a bit of difference each time, however, I would love to have more than 1 level to optimize the enjoyment.
Really enjoyed the difficulty of the game
It’s a fast and fun way to spend a few extra minutes of free time
Not a fan or arcade shooters
Get frazzled easily
Final Thoughts: To the developer I would like to say thank you for providing an enjoyable mobile game that’s perfect to play on breaks at work. I would enjoy more levels where the game gets harder or you have to not only repair the fires and escape, but possibly add on additional tasks. I really enjoyed the game and even after completing it, I still find myself opening the game on my phone to play a few quick rounds. I definitely enjoyed the game and I can see potential to update the game and continue adding to it!
4 Power-ups out of 5!
Thank you for reading our review of Asteroid Challenge! Check out additional details below to learn more about Pavo Studios and to download the game!
– Simply looking, but difficult to play 3D arcade space shooter.
Happy Thursday Novas! Earlier this week on the Friendly Trends post, I told you that my friend Stephanie introduced me to a new mobile game called Sky Islands, so why not write up a review?!
Title: Sky Island Anime Avatar World
Publisher: Suga Studio
Devices: Android Systems
Audience: Simulation Game Rated E (Everyone)
Premise:Sky Islands is a mobile MMORPG game that allows the players to make money by running a resort! You start off with a villa that you can decorate and rent out to patrons. Renting, cleaning and decorating the villas is your task. You can serve your guests food to gain additional money. Like any MMORPG Game you are able to fully customize your character’s appearance.
Gameplay: You are greeted by Milky; a cat butler that is sent to help and serve you. This game is very anime, so you are referred to as “Master” throughout the game.
You also take charge of a garden where you can grow different fruits. The fruits have different uses like serving customers food, upgrading items in your villas or dyeing your clothing and hair! You can unlock different hair styles, features, clothing and accessories at higher levels.
Mini Games- When you are waiting for tenants to leave or crops to grow, you can take advantage of different mini games to gain extra revenue. One of the most popular mini games will be the Pinata Party.
Pinata Party – At Pinata Parties each guest donates 2 candies when they enter the host’s hot spring. The host can start the party once 10 candies are received. When the party starts, pinatas will start popping up over your screen and your goal is to tap as many pinatas as possible before time runs out (kind of like whack a mole). The top 3 players get to click on a prize box to receve coins or gems. Everyone else gets 100 coins as a consolation prize.
Cuttlefishing– Cuttlefishing is a mini game that you can play solo or with a group. There is a time limit and you use a boat with 3 different hooks to try and catch fish. The best method is to try and catch the most combined weight of the fish. the larger fish will be at the bottom and are often blocked by obstacles like rocks, while the smaller fish are closer to the boat and easier to catch. You win coins based on the most combined weight.
Treasure Hunt– There’s a treasure hunt party in which 2 or more players try and collect the most treasures. The kicker with this game is that it’s mostly luck. You roll the die and take the number of steps displayed. To catch treasure, you have to land exactly on the treasure space; yup, you can pass right by the treasures and have to circle the map to get back. I do like that there are power-ups on the map that can help prevent others from winning.
Word Guess – Every 2 hours players can head to a community park and participate in the word guess game. You will be given a question with a blank and you only need to guess the letter that is inside of the word used to complete the sentence or question. Even if you don’t know the answer, you can guess a letter and win!
Hunting Area – The hunting area is my least favorte activity. It’s pretty much fishing, but you have to keep tapping the line to reel in the animal. The larger the animal, the harder it is to reel in. It’s not my cup of tea and it hurt my finger playing the game lol.
Quests and Areas – You can also earn money by completing various quests on the game. Each day, you wil have a list of Daily Quests to complete. Upon completion, you receive XP and coins. There are also developmental tasks that give you more exerience and coins than the daily tasks.
There are different areas that you can visit like the Community Park, Friend’s Hotspring, Hunting Area and Treasure Island. These areas can be accessed by clicking on the World Compass. Each area has a different mini game and activities.
There are additional community activities like Fashion Shows and Boss battles (I haven’t been on to play any of these events yet as they are more infrequent).
Final Thoughts:I really like the game. It is targeted to anime fans, and I think it is targeted a bit more towards females, but I’ve seen plenty of males playing as well. It’s a great social networking game; as you benefit more from having friends that can send you candies, needed for tasks like the Pinata Parties. I feel like the graphics are what you would expect from any anime type game and the colors definitely fit the part.
As with all of my reviews, my top reasons to “Play” or “Skip” Sky Islands is listed below!
An addictive world building game like Farmville
Free To Play
A nice blend of activities
Do not like Player Development games
Can be Pay To Play to advance faster in the game
Prefer more action
Thank you for reading the mobile game review! Have you heard of Sky Islands? What type of mobile games are you currenlty playing? Let’s talk mobile gaming!
Happy Wednesday Novas! Thank you for reading the second installation of the Friendly Trends post! This segment will pretty much discuss some of the trends that my friends have “Put Me On” to and it’s my way of sharing these trends with you! The first segment was me talking about some of the Guilty Pleasure trends that I was put on to. Check out that post by clicking here!
Today, we will go over a few new addictions that I was introduced to. Starting with a few YouTubers and music!
My co-worker Megan (nagems21) was telling me about some great YouTubers that perform covers to songs. William Singe and Alex Aiono perform some of the top songs today in collaboration and separately. They’re flipping amazing!!!! Here’s my favorite collaboration.
I now have discovered a few more awesome YouTubers who perform covers and I love it! Here’s another one of my favorite covers by Alex and it’s a song that Selena put me on to.
One of my best friends Stephanie got me hooked on this new mobile game called Sky Islands (game review coming soon). Sky Islands is pretty much a mobile RPG anime game where you make money running your very own villa! You grow crops, serve guests, play Pinata Parties and other little mini games, while you collect rent from renters at your villas. Steph has been playing this game for a few weeks now and she spends HOURS on it! It’s actually pretty fun. During my trip up their last week Stephanie, myself and her little sister were jumping into Pinata Parties and taking the top 3 spots everytime!
My friend Selena also put me on to different music that I wasn’t aware of. I go to Selena for the latest Hip Hop and R&B hits because she’s always “Woke” (her words lol). Some of the songs that she has put me on to is “Don’t Mind” by Kent Jones, Torey Lane’s “Proud Family Remix” and “Or Nah” by Ty Dolla Sign. “Or Nah” is explicit so I recommend the edited version lol.
What are some new addictions that you were put on to by your friends? Do you find yourself developing new hobbies that your friends have? Let’s talk Friendly Trends!
If you are a Disney fan, mobile game lover, or just like to spend countless hours starting at a 4in. screen, then please, read on…
For over a 1 1/2, I have been obsessed with the Disney Magic Kingdoms App released by Gameloft. Although I am a huge Disney fanatic, the game itself is so beautiful and amazingly detailed it’s insane. The creators of the game really took the time and effort to design everything true to how the Disney Universe is.
Basically, the evil Maleficent has cast an evil spell on the Kingdom and it’s your job to help Mickey and his friends defeat the wicked Maleficent to restore the Kingdom as it once was. Throughout your adventure, you will meet a variety of new and classic characters like Pluto, Chip and Dale, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Dash, Walle, Simba, and more! Each character will go through their own Heroic Quests to help level your Kingdom and defeat Maleficent.
Along your journey, you will collect…
Magic: Currency collected to purchase attractions, outfits, decorations and more!
Gems: Premium Currency that unlocks chests and speeds up character tasks. Gems can be purchased for real $$$ and sometimes they have special promotions or bundle packs!
Happiness: You can’t have a Disney Kingdom without having a bunch of visitors wanting to have their wishes granted! Visitors will request to meet with Characters like Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Bo Peep, Cinderella, and more! The more wishes you grant, the happier the Kingdom!
Attractions: The attractions are probably my favorite to collect! They are so detailed and if you zoom in while playing, you can see them move and the characters who are completing tasks. Some of my favorite attractions so far are The Tree of Life, Snuggly Duckling, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Broomstick Graveyard, Jumpin Jellyfish and of course Cinderella’s Castle!
Decorations: To complete your Kingdom, you can use magic to purchase decorations or collect them from Treasure Chests. Decorations can be themed to match Attractions areas and range from Benches, Statues, Topiary’s, Concession Stands and more! They also have unique items like Cannons, Olaf Sand Sculptures, Simba’s Tree, Gargoyle Lamps, and more!
Treasure Chests: Treasure Chests are hidden throughout the Kingdom and contain prizes like Magic, Happiness, Decorations, and Attractions.
Character Outfits/Tokens: At this time, only a handful of Characters have outfits that you can earn and wear. Each outfit has special tasks that the character can complete. I have listed a few here..
Special Events: Throughout the year, the game releases Special Events to keep the game new and exciting! Right now, we have the Lion King Event! In the past we have had events for Holidays like Halloween and Christmas, and to welcome new character groups like Mulan, The Incredible’s, and Frozen to name a few!
Alright guys, I have gone over most of the details of the game and I hope you adore it as much as I do! I may not be a big gamer but when it comes to Disney, I just can’t resist! If you download the game, let me know what you like about it or what you favorite attraction is!
