The bottom line is that you can’t possibly have a reality show without a beautiful Princess to gather the affections of the guys.
You can’t have a show without me *smooches*
The Princess definitely knows how to turn on the charm to get what she so desires. I have to admit, when the short mushroom looking agent requested an audience, I knew we struck gold. Not because of her charm or cuteness… but because of how unhinged she really is…
So princess, what have you been up to now that you are outside of the video game world?
I haven’t struggled a bit. This “reality” world has been very accepting of me. I currently have a huge Loft in New York with summer homes in the Hamptons and Miami. I’m looking at property in California as well. I’m invited to all of the fashion shows and galas across the world which keeps me very busy. Poor Toad has a hard time planning out my weeks.
So you’re a Socialite?
A party is considered dull affair if you do not have A List celebrities and I’m as A List as it gets.
What about Mario?
What about him? This interview is for the Video Game Reality House is it not? Is Mario going to be there?
I can’t reveal who will be in the house, but rest assured that everyone will go through the same interview process. I take it you 2 are not on speaking terms?
If Mario ever has anything interesting to say, I would gladly oblige an audience with him. Seeing as his vocabulary is full of “It’s a meee or Mama miaaaa” I doubt we will be speaking outside of traditional pleasantries.
I’m sure our readers would love to dive more into your personal life. How is your cousin Daisy?
She’s fine. Last time we spoke Daisy was jet setting the world helping out people in need and going on safaris. I have Toad draft a letter to my cousin once a month to keep up appearances.
So you’re estranged from her too then?
I wouldn’t call it estranged. There’s so many distractions in this world that it’s easy to get sidetracked. We all have taken different paths and at the moment, our interests do not align is all. So tell me more about this competition? Toad only provided a few details and said a winner would be crowned which would naturally be yours truly.
Well we have decided to catch up with video game characters and the best way to do so is to lock—
I mean place select characters into a house filled with competition. It’s called a reality show in this world. Each week you will compete for advantages and there will be an elimination at the end of the week. The last character standing will be crowned the Video Game Champion and receive a trophy along with additional perks.
I see. I accept your invitation to be the Star of the show and enter the house.
Well, your highness I didn’t offer…
I will have Toad fax over my requests for the house. I have certain products that I need to have with me at all time and I will do you the favor of promoting this show on my Instagram feed. You will have 4.5 million followers viewing the activities at the house. You’re welcome.
That’s fine but there’s a selection…
Look at the time. I have a meeting with a fashion designer. We are creating a new line for my Pretty In Pink collection coming out next Spring. I have to go. Don’t forget to fax over the agreement contract to my agent.
Wait but we didn’t…
Smooches darling oh and since I’m the star I expect to have the priority reveal. Toodles!
Well… I guess we have our first contestant. Even if I didn’t formally offer her the spot.
How do you think Princess Peach will fair in the Video Game Reality House? What other characters would you like to see in the house and why? Tune in later this week for the 2nd character entering the house!
Power up Players for April’s Question of the Month Response, hosted by the Later Levels Blog! In an effort to get back into the swing of things, I’m diligently participating in the monthly gaming question and this month and we have a super fun one! This challenge is open to all bloggers so feel free to get involved, publish your answers and check out the other answers!
So the question this month was:
Which three video game characters would you choose to help you survive the apocalypse? The type of apocalypse and enemy you’ll encounter will depend on your birthday…
To properly Answer this question, we have to find out what I will be fighting and surviving against. Based on the chart my birthday of April 26th will have me surviving in an “Ice Age” against “Graboids (remember the movie Tremors lol).” Yea, Graboids are the huge sandworms that rely on vibrations and can crash through structures and eat you. This should be fun! Let’s see who I would use!
Steve from Minecraft (The Builder/Scout/Varietyman): –
Before you start laughing, think about it. Steve is very, very useful. Steve knows helpful crafting recipes and he is a master builder! Steve will be able to help build the shelter and reinforce it against the Graboids. I’d probably commission steve to make a shelter that is surrounded on all sides by a lava pit! This way, if the Graboids try and break through, they will end up fried instead. Steve is also an expert farmer and explorer so he will be able to adapt to the frigid temperatures and help build a self sustaining farm!
Pyramid Head (The Enforcer) –
Listen this may not seem like a likely choice but think about what Steve will be doing. Steve is going to be constructing a shelter, tools and other things which will drive the attention of the Graboids. Since they rely on vibrations on the ground to catch and kill their prey, we’re going to need a bodyguard and I can’t think of a better one than Pyramid Head. This Silent Hill Villain boosters Super Strength, Agility, Stamina, and due to his Type 2 Immortality, Durability. Pyramid Head is a great character to use for fighting off the Graboids and any other threats until our shelter is complete.
Dr. Mario (Medic) –
You can’t survive any apocalypse without a medical person on hand. Dr Mario is my pick in this band of misfits because, he has a pill for everything (I hope he knows CPR and how to bandage legs lol). Mario can also be used to help keep Pyramid Head in check. Since he is essentially created by the victim, Mario treats him like Fred from the Drop Dead Fred movie and keeps him sane and stable with his different pills (that got weird really fast haha).
Those are my picks for Surviving the Ice Age of Graboids terrorizing the planet. What 3 characters would you choose? Do you think my team can help me survive? Feel free to join in the Question of the Month and check out our blogging buddies and their responses. Let’s talk video game characters during the apocalypse!

The presents have been opened and dinner has been eaten, so you’ve got a bit of time for gaming while Gran is snoozing on the sofa. What’s the best video game to play during the holidays?
This is an easy one. I loveeeeee playing Mario Party or Mario Kart during the Holidays! The multiplayer Mario games are a great way to get both children and adult gamers involved after dinner.
This past Christmas we played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe before and after dinner at my aunt’s house. My cousins and I traded off the Switch controllers to play the Grand Prix (I won with orange Yoshi! ) and battle modes. My youngest cousin is 12 years old and she was having a blast playing as Toadette with us adults! Yoshi has always been one of my favorite characters (along with Daisy) to use in the Mario Franchise games. In Mario Kart, Yoshi is normally a mid range, flexible character which pretty much means he has great handling (smooth moves) and average speed. He’s a great all around character and his sharp turns can help you avoid the dreaded red and green shells being launched in your direction.
Mario Party is another game that we have played on Christmas in the past.
The ability to play with up to 4 people and play mini games is a great way to keep the party going all night long. I always tend to use characters like Yoshi or Daisy to stick it to the competition. One of my favorite Mario Party games of all times is a game from the original Mario Party game called Cast Aways! In the Cast Aways game everyone stands on an island with a fishing pole and a roulette of Coins, Money Bags and Treasure Chests float by. Your goal is to catch the most money! The Coins were worth 1, Money Bags are worth 5 and Treasure Chests are worth 10 points! I’ve never been beaten in this game mode :), challenge me when I get a switch if that game mode is on the newest installment!
Shy Guy Says is another iconic mini game. Shy Guy Says is the Mario and Friends version of Simon Says. Shy Guy is the captain of a ship and all players are the shipmates, mateys if you will. Shy Guy will raise either a red or white flag. Your job is the hit the button to the corresponding flag. If you are caught holding the incorrect flag, you WALK THE PLANK! Shy Guy is not so shy when he is forcing overboard. The game continues until there is 1 player left. Shy Guy says is a classic mini game.
Let’s hop on the Sleigh from Santa’s new “Dragon Sleighing”business (investors are still welcome lol) line and read what our buddies are playing!
Those are 2 or my favorite video games to play on Christmas with family and friends! Which video games are you playing on Christmas? What’s your favorite video game to play during the Holidays? Let’s talk video games!
Happy Holidays Players! Today is day number 5 for the Creative Christmas Gaming Collaboration hosted by our friend Kim over at Later Levels! The rules are simple, post your response to the questions designated for each day and share the Holiday fun with the blog-o-sphere! Make sure to check out posts from our friends participating as well! Want to join in on the fun and spread your holiday cheer? Check out the rules here!
Today’s topic is…
The party is still going strong and you find yourself conveniently positioned under the mistletoe. Which video game character would you call over for a cheeky kiss?
This is a no brainer for me. Everyone knows of the iconic WWE 2K18 game right? I would call over the cover Superstar, none other than my husband SETH FREAKIN’ ROLLINS!
I mean of course he would be the character that I would call over, but since that was a bit of a cheap answer, I will also provide another.
Scorpion from Mortal Kombat would be a great choice. I have always been a Scorpion fan to a bit of a mild obsession with the character back in my youth. Here’s how it would go down:
Mario has invited all of the video game characters over to the Mushroom Kingdom and Peach’s Castle for his annual Holiday Party! This time, chosen gamers were on the guest list and yours truly received an E-vite! This was it, my chance to finally meet some of my heroes (and Villains :P) from my childhood and let’s face it adulthood as well. I’ve decided on wearing a nice little gamer dress to show appreciation for the Mushroom Kingdom and hopefully score cool kid points from my host.
Right on schedule a warp pipe arrived at 6:00pm on the dot and it was time for me to take my leave of the world for 1 night. I quickly hopped in the pipe and was off to the party.
The warp pipe dropped my gently at the front door of Peach’s Royal Castle. I wonder if her husband Bowser will drop by and “‘kidnap” her for the night lol. This definitely seems like a night where the 2 lovers can escape unnoticed. I reached out and pressed the Star shaped doorbell and was greeted by Toad and Yoshi! Instantly I gave him a hug and presented my invitation to the festivities. Toad bowed to me and escorted me inside.
The guest list was top notch! I was greeted by characters like Sonic, Cayde-6 from Destiny 2, Vegeta and Trunks and many more characters that I have come to know and love. There’s was a great spread of food on the table so I strutted on over and grabbed a few cookies. Right as I was getting ready to pour a glass of eggnog, I caught a glimpse of Scorpion in the corner. He was staring at me… I think. Frantically a looked behind me because surely he was looking at someone else. But no one was around me. I flashed scorpion a flirty smile and took a sip of the eggnog, ughhh Wario spiked it, not bad though. Before I could make a move I hear the echo of “Get Over Here” and scorpion pulls me close.
Lakitu, always the stalker… eww well journalist, flies over us and a string of mistletoe hovers. I shrug my shoulders and kiss scorpion on the cheek. The rest of the night I mingled with the absolute best in gaming, but one thing crossed my mind. I didn’t see Peach or Bowser the entire night. Guess it was a Happy Holiday for all parties involved!
Check out the other snowmen and snowwomen participating in today’s topic below!
Happy Thursday Novas! Today’s post will be a review of the board Game Monopoly Gamer that I was able to play during my vacation last week with friends. Monopoly Gamer is not a traditional Monopoly Game that can take hours to complete. It is actually a game that ends once you fight the final boss in the bosses deck and the winner is the person who has the highest total points. Let’s jump into how you play!
Just like any Monopoly Game, each player chooses their character and receives “coins” from the bank. The initial setup of the coins will be 1 “5 coin” and 5 “single coins.” The coins are used to buy properties on the map and also to fight the bosses. Each player takes a turn rolling 2 dice; one for movement and the second for Power Up Ability actions.
Think of the Power Up Abilities as you would if you were playing Mario Kart. The Red Shells can hit any player of your choice and force them to “drop” 3 coins on their current space. The Green Shell will make the player directly in front of you drop 3 coins. The Squid will allow you to steal 2 coins from any player. The POW icon will force all other players on the board to drop 1 coin. The 3 coins icon will allow you to receive 3 coins from the bank.
Character Abilities:Each character in the game has different abilities that you can use. There’s the Power Up ability and the Superstar Ability. When you roll the Power Up die, if you land on your characters specific power up, you get an added bonus. For instance, I use Yoshi and his Power Up Ability is the Green Shell. Instead of automatically hitting the person in front of me, I could hit the person behind me for coins. Yoshi gets the choice! On the map there are Star Spaces, if you land here you can use your Superstar Ability. The game starts with 4 characters; Peach, Mario, Yoshi and Donkey Kong, but you can buy alternate characters to use. We bought Rosalina, Fire Mario and Boo!
Board Spaces: When you are hit, you leave coins on the space that you are currently on. To make the game feel more like Super Mario, there are a few different spaces. The Warp Pipeallows you to move to the next Warp Pipe on the board (for added fun, make the warp pipe sound each time someone lands on the space lol). TheThomp Space makes you drop 2 coins (I make the Ummpf sound on this space lol). The Go To Jail Space is standard and we have explained the Star Space. The last space, other than property, is Coin BlockSpace. You will roll the numbered die and take that many coins from the bank (the ba ding! sound is best used here lol).
Gameplay and Bosses: So we have established that you roll your dice and move your character. Just like standard Monopoly, you buy up spaces to collect rent (each property also has points attached). If you don’t want to buy the property or you do not have enough coins, the property will be auctioned amongst the remaining players in the game. Any space that you pass with coins on them are yours to pick up (if you don’t forget). When you pass go, you collect 2 coins from the bank and you flip over the top “Boss Battle” card.
The player who passes Go gets to fight a boss by paying the number of coins on the card. To win, you must roll the number equal to or higher than the number shown on the boss card. If you lose, the next player can pay the fight requirement and battle until someone beats the boss. Each boss card also brings a perk that you can use at anytime like being able to force a trade between 2 players. Spoiler alert, you’re fighting the Koopa Kids and ending with Bowser!
Once Bowser is defeated, the game immediately ends and the players tally their points. You add the number of points on your owned properties, to your boss fight points and the number of coins you have to decide the winner. Every 5 coins count as 10 points. That’s it! Bragging rights goes to the person who has the most points in the game and you didn’t have to play for 5 hours.
Here are my top reasons to “Play” or “Skip” Monopoly Gamer:
A fresh new spin on Monopoly
A quick family board game
The character abilities makes each game interesting so the replay value is high
Affordable at about $24
You don’t like Monopoly
I would give Monopoly Gamer a 4.5 out of 5! I wish there were more bosses as an expansion pack that you could buy (fighting the same bosses can get tideous).
What do you think of Monopoly Gamer? Have you played any different versions of Monopoly? If so, which are your favorites? What type of board games do you love to play? Let’s Talk Board Games!
Greetings and hello my fascinating Novas! I was getting ready to write up a blog post when the best idea popped into my head out of nowhere! I was thinking about some of the lore and plots that we have grown up with in video games. Then my mind decided to go all Scooby Doo and propose the question: Wouldn’t it be crazy if… we didn’t know the whole story? So now I’m severely interested and talking things over with my friends Erick & Emily about presenting a version of the story that’s likely to have been the case. If you’re not following me yet, don’t worry when I explain the first story you will tie all of the pieces together. So let’s get investigating gang!
Lore: Bowser is an evil dinosaur that hates Mario and always tries to abduct Princess Peach.
Question: Wouldn’t it be crazy if Bowser only hates Mario because he is MARRIED TO PEACH??????
Investigation: What’s the probability of Peach being married to Bowser.
Exhibit A: Bowser has kids…. The Koopa Kids but I do not recall them having a mother. He also has Bowser Jr.
Through the initial investigating phases, I have found a few suspect pictures that I would like to present. I sat down to a very intense interview with our Princess and here’s what she had to say.
Me:Good evening Peach! I’m just following up on a few leads and I would love to ask you some questions if you don’t mind.
Peach:No problem Luna! I’m happy to help anyone who is a friend of the Mushroom Kingdom!
Me: Ok great! Just a few quick questions here. First, how are things going with Mario?
Peach:Everything’s fantastic! Mario is very sweet and helpful and I don’t nkow what I would do without him.
Me: Oh That’s sweet! So, are you guys planning on getting married?
Peach:No, we haven’t talked about it. We’re both pretty busy at the moment.
Me: Oh… I was under the impression that you were engaged?
Peach:No I can’t be…. I mean of course not. What would make you think such a thing?
Me: Engagement ring? Also, why did you stop going by your maiden name, Princess Toadstool? For that matter, why have you changed your appearance and dyed your hair Princess?
Peach:This isn’t an engagement ring and I don’t like you prying into my personal life. This interview is OVER!
Exhibit B: Bowser has maddddd money to build contraptions and go after Mario
We know that I loveeee reading and watching pieces about royals and nobles. From this study of history I know that often times 2 kingdoms are united by marriage. Bowser is King of the Koopas and Peach is Princess of Mushroom Kingdom what if she was married off to Bowser to unite the Kingdoms?
Exhibit C:The guy flying in the clouds recording everything has a 6 hour gap in his tapes!!!
I’ve interviewed a few citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom who prefer to keep their identity secret. Let’s hear what they have to say.
Me: Hey Kim, thank you for sitting down with me. As discussed, I wanted to get your insight on an investigation that I am heading up. Since you are a guru in the video game realm, I thought you’d be the perfect person to help out!
Me :Have you seen any suspicious encounters between Bowser and Princess Peach?
Kim:It’s not the encounters we see that are suspicious – it’s the ones we don’t which are downright dodgy! Think about it: what does poor Mario find every time he goes off to save Peach from one of these so-called ‘kidnappings’? It’s Toad, telling him yet again that the princess is in another castle. If Peach had really been taken by Bowser – who’s meant to be this fierce, fire-breathing beast – why would he keep leaving behind a servant who gives the would-be rescuers clues as to the Peach’s location? Toad should be fried mushroom by now.
So maybe they aren’t real kidnappings after all. Maybe it’s just a cover-up for two star-crossed lovers who don’t want to ruin their reputations. Why on earth would you continue to play tennis and go go-karting with someone who keeps trying to abduct you, huh?
Me: Who do you think is the real mother of Bowser Jr?
Kim:The word on the Toad Town street is that Bowser revealed to Bowser Jr that Peach was his mum. Some are saying that this was a lie and just a way for the Koopa King to persuade his son to ‘rescue’ his mother from that ‘evil Mario’; but when you consider what I’ve already told told you about these ‘kidnappings’, who knows how many untruths we’re being fed?
Consider also that Bowser Jr looks particularly fetching when wearing pink. I wonder whether he got that trait from his mother’s side of the family…
Me: If Bowser and Peach were married, what would it mean for the Mushroom Kingdom?
Kim:I don’t know why the pair of them continue to try and hide their marriage. Sure, their reputations might take a bit of a knock to begin with – the royal princess falling for a bit-of-rough from the wrong side of the tracks, the power-hungry villain giving up evil in the name of love – but it could be a good thing. It could bring about peace for all mushrooms, you know?
No more warring factions fighting over the realm; divided Toads and Koopas brought together in harmony; an end to ferocious man-eating plants jumping out at you when you want to use the bathroom. And no more wasting tax-payers’ money on these stupid kidnappings!
Me: Lakitu is missing 6 hours of footage from June 18th between 4pm to 10pm. Also, the goombas and Koopas whereabouts are unknown from that block of time. Do you know where they were and why there is 6 hours of footage missing?
Kim:Let me guess: Princess Peach told you that this footage occurred during the time of her last kidnap and that the cameras were damaged during the scuffle when she was taken. How very convenient! Two words for you: date night.
Thank you for your time Kim!
I have a lot of evidence and more questions now. If only, I could find a …
ROYAL CORRESPONDENT TOAD REPORTS: If Bowser and Peach are actually married, there are some pretty far-reaching implications. Peach is the Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, as we know, but there doesn’t seem to be a King or Queen and Peach seems to be de facto ruler of the Kingdom: she’s not just a member of its royal family, she would appear to be its head. If she’s actually married Bowser, this would make him a high-up member of the family too, and therefore potentially extremely powerful within the Kingdom’s government. We don’t know exactly what the lineage of the Mushroom Royal Family is, but Peach being the Princess and monarch apparent would make Bowser Prince Consort or something like that at the very least! Since we haven’t seen any evidence that there’s a president or prime minister, we can assume that the royal family does actually wield governing power, so Bowser probably has some say in what laws are made.
Mario might well bear the legal status of traitor and war criminal! All this is just assuming Bowser’s the one who married into the royal family, of course. But what if that’s not the case at all? What if Bowser was the actual hereditary member of the monarchy, and Peach is the one who gained her status and title by marrying? Imagine that! The Koopa line would be the true rightful rulers of the kingdom, with Mario little more than a blue-collar everyman mounting a one-man revolution.
Based on the evidence and witness statements, what do you think? Do you think there’s a possibility that Bowser and Peach are secretly married? Have you seen anything suspicious in the Mushroom Kingdom or Mario franchise that would validate our claims? Let’s talk gaming conspiracies!
Hiya Gamers and Friends! Today’s Throwback Thursday post will highlight one of my favorite gaming systems of all times, the Nintendo 64. The Nintendo 64 or N64 for short was released back in 1996 for both the Japanese and North American markets. N64 was the 3rd system released by Nintendo and brought with it some of the more revolutionary games, titles and advancements for it’s time. Let’s jump into some facts about our N64.
The Name: Not many people know why the console was called the Nintendo 64. Obviously the “Nintendo” part was branding the company but why the 64? Easy, the 64 referred to the (then) amazing 64 bit processing system that the console consisted of. It was light years above the Sega and Super Nintendo consoles and the graphics were amazing for that time frame.
The Composition: Another awesome feature of the N64 was the way it was built along with its capabilities. The N64 in my knowledge was the first system I had that allowed more than 2 people to play at one time! We had 4 regular plug in slots!!!! It made waiting for your turn to play on relevantly non existence. Also the controller was a spectacle in itself. This controller was the first of it’s kind consisting of 3 handles and a joystick! I still remember trying to hold the controller for the first time and the trigger on the back is still one of my favorite features for ANY console.
The Games: The Nintendo 64 produced some of the more iconic games that still reign high up on a gamers list of favorites. Some of these iconic games were Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye 007, Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario 64, Perfect Dark , Wave Race, Pokemon Stadium, Mario Party, Diddy Kong Racing(see Throwback Tuesday post here! )and Super Smash Bros. If you haven’t played some or any pf the games listed here then you are missing out!
Super Mario 64– Super Mario 64 to some may seem like just another Mario game, however, this game really pushed the boundaries of the gaming world. It was the first time that the gamer was able to explore different camera angles, movements and actions as compared to the Side Scrolling predecessors. Compare the difference below.
As you can see Mario used his Mushroom to upgrade to a revolutionary character in the Nintendo 64. Along with Super Mario was the introduction of one of the best racing game Mario Kart 64! Mario Kart 64 allowed you to race with your favorite Mario characters through customized maps like Donkey Kong Jungle and Yoshi’s Island! You were able to do a traditional race or a battle where your goal was to eliminate the other players. What made this game amazing was that you would use items from a traditional Mario game like Shells and Stars in order to slow down or get away from your opponents. Not only did you want to be a skilled racer (Yoshi with the smooth moves 🙂 ) but you also had to play strategically to not get hit or stop your opponents.
Since Mario 64 and Mario Kart were massive hits, why not continue this trend of Mario games by unleashing my all time favorite Nintendo game; Mario Party! Mario Party was a multiplayer digital board game that allowed gamers to play as their favorite Mario characters in mini games to earn coins and stars. You win the game by satisfying the win requirement or having the most Stars at the end of the game. Of course there were twists in the game like “Taking it to Boo!” I was a fair player until someone did me dirty, then I would take it to Boo and steal either coins or Stars from the person who double crossed me. Mario Party is still one of my favorite games from Nintendo and I hope the new Nintendo Switch keeps the franchise alive!
Wave Race- Wave Race was an awesome Jet skiing racing game in which you could either race or play the Trick mode. I played trick mode the most because I loved learning new tricks like he “Barrel Roll” and using them in a traditional race to show off! Wave Race was really fun traversing the different maps and trying to earn the most medals. Dolphin Park was my favorite map!
Goldeneye 007- I couldn’t end the post without mentioning the Godfather of all FPS games, Goldeneye 007. This game was so amazing from the use of the weapons to playing the missions to playing with your friends and family! I believe this game gave First Person Shooters their life. I can still remember having tons of fun making up rules like you can’t use odd job or the female scientist because they were HACKS! Odd job was too short to aim at and the female scientist may as well have been the Flash with her speed. We also took out the Golden Gun because 1 shot kills with that thing were crazy, but occasionally we would play on License to Kill mode! Sometimes my brother and I would make challenges with our friends like rockets only (That was hilarious!). The DD214 was my favorite pistol and I had to find the AK-47 to mow down my enemies. Goldeneye, thank you! From a lover of FPS games thank you, you are where my love for a good FPS began.
There are plenty of notable games not mentioned like Snowboard Kids, Pokemon Stadium and the Wrestling games, however, I can’t mention all of them here. What did you like about the N64? What were some of your favorite games? Let’s talk N64!
