Another ball and I’m expected to tempt and please, yet no one will know each other’s identities. Dresses of Silk flowing across the floor, exotic furs, lace, leathers; his whore. Placed on a pedestal for all to find, ravaged and succulent, tasting the wine. Our eyes finally meet, can she see through my mask? Looking away was an impossible task.

Five Sentence Story Prompt: Hidden

Happy Thursday Novas! Today’s post will be my entry into this week’s 5 sentence story prompt. The 5 sentence story prompt is a contest going on where you submit your best 5 sentence stories. The winners get to display their winning award picture. It’s really fun and a great way to get those creative writing wheels turning. This is my 2nd week entering! Feel free to join in on the fun. This week’s prompt is hosted by Mila, Doodling Panda. Check out the official rules by clicking here.

This week’s word: Hidden

The highborn are all too much like glass, offering up their tributes for my father’s favor. They think this smile, my attention, flattery, maidenhood is for them; my life for sale at our Winter Festival. Must I partake in the praise and indulgences rippling through my father’s royal court? “My Lord,” I curtsey, submitting to my duty as Princess, the scent of my freedom no longer fills the air, for this burden I do bear. His feral scent and lips so dry cannot lower my smile, yet I shy away from his gaze; for in my eyes, my true feelings are revealed.

Thank you for reading this week’s prompt. What do you think of the story? Can you tell what I was going for and what was “Hidden?” Let’s talk creative writing!

Five Sentence Story Prompt

Happy Monday Novas! I’ve come across a writing challenge on Mila (Doodling Panda’s) blog and thought that I’d give it a go. This is a fun challenge and I encourage all to take part! You can enter the challenge and read the official rules by clicking here! Pretty much, the rules are to make a 5 sentence story from the word of the week. I am writing a short scene from a story that I thought up last night. Let’s get started.

This week’s word: Passion

Enchanting was her birthright, not ruling or war. Her grace floated throughout the corridors of the great hall that’s filled with the memories of it’s latest muse. The feast was a success, and the nobles satiated; they’ve drunk their fill of blood and lust, and to the rhythm of the wind, she released her corset and took off her shoes. Each movement deliberate and without haste, her body’s swayed along to the melodious tune.
Betrothed to the one suitor that can carry her fancy, the one suitor that will never leave or forsake her, to her only love; Dance.

William Shire, 13th November , 1463, Festival of the Kings.

mary dance

What do you guys think? I’d love feedback as this is an idea for another story that I am thinking about writing. Join along with us and link me to your 5 word story!

Series of The Week: The White Princess

Happy Friday Novas! I hope you are all having a great week! This week’s “Series of the Week” will come from the 8 episode Starz series The White Princess. This series takes places after The White Queen and you can read that review by cliking here! Every other Friday I will provide a review or a current series I am watching, whether it be on Netflix, Hulu or the ancient live television! I will give a brief overview of the show (spoiler free) and my top reasons why you should watch (Play) or why you would want to Skip the show. Let’s get to it.

The White Princess is the on screen adapation of the novel by Phllipa Gregory of the same name. I’m very intrigues with period pieces and The White Princess is a book that I have in my collection. I have yet to read this book (currently reading the Kingmaker’s Daughter that happens during the same time) so I can’t say how much is deviates, but let’s go based on what we know. The series begins where The White Queen ends with the battle of Henry VII and Richard III. Henry and the Lancasters win so Henry stays true to his promise of marrying the York Princess of Elizabeth (Lizzie) to unite the feuiding houses.

Lizzie is the daughter of former King Edward IV and niece of the slayed King Richard III. She despises the Tudor King and vows to take vengence on him for her family, yet she marries him out of duty. The series follows the historical timeline of their struggles as husband and wife, King and Queen and Lizzie’s varying feelings towards the new King. The series is filled with everything you would expect from a period piece; Drama, Romance, Scandal and Treason! When you step into the royal court, you have to decipher who amongst you is trustworthy and who is not plotting to get something. Who will rise by the couple? Who will try to tear them apart? and will their love blossom as the Tudor Rose is installed? These are the questions answered and the different degrees of conflict arising in The White Princess.

  • To see England before Elizabeth I and Henry VIII (Henry is the second son of Lizzie and Henry VII)
  • Drama and Historical Fiction told at it’s finest level
  • Excellent acting and portrayals

  • Not a fan of historical dramas
  • I’m realllll biased… Watch It! Lol

Check out the official trailer below:

Thank you for reading this week’s Series post! Have you watched any period pieces or specifically The White Princess/Queen? What’s you favorite time period to read about or watch? Let’s Talk TV!

Dark Blood Book Review!

Hiya Novas! Today I will review my 2nd book on the blog called Dark Blood by Christine Feehan. The first review was a Thriller called “Concealed in Death.” You can read my first book review by clicking here. I actually started reading this book because I wanted to get a sense on the Fantasy style of writing. This book gave me great insight and tips to carry on over. On to the Dark Blood review!

Title: Dark Blood

Published: September 2, 2014

Author: Christine Feehan

Genre: Fantasy

Series: Dark Series #26

Dark Blood is a Fantasy book that follows the journey of an elite hunter known as Zev. This is my first proper fantasy novel so I wasn’t quite sure on what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. In a world filled with different species hiding amongst humans, you can never know who to trust. Zev is an elite hunter and alpha Lycan who’s main job is to protect the Lycan council and follow their ever wish. Zev is one of the best, he’s extremely fast, intelligent and one of the top hunters in the land. When he is injured in battle, Zev learns something about his lineage that will change his world forever; he’s Dark Blood. But what does that mean? How can Zev use this information to help stop a brewing war between the Lycans and Carpathians? That’s what he and his group of close knit friends intend to find out!

The setting takes place in the  forests and caves of a distant land. I know that they cross through Russia and real life locations. I really liked the pace and the tone on the novel. You are reading mostly from Zev and his lifemate Branislava’s point of view. db1

I really love the characters and the author did a fantastic job positioning Zev in the story. He is my favorite character and I’m not usually one to gush over a main character. Zev is the true definition of “Alpha” in every sense of the word. The action was fantastic and appeared in mage battles, physical battles and primal fighting between rogue packs. The antagonist is n revealed until about half way through, but it’s worth the wiat. The build-up and anticipation between what’s going to happen next had me eager to turn the page. There are many suggestive and descriptive adult scenes so it is not recommended for kids under 17.  I’m definitely going to read some more books in the “Dark Series.”

Thank you for reading my quick thoughts on finishing Dark Blood! What are you curently reading? Have you read any books in the Dark Series? Let’s talk books!

Video Game Tag

Hiya Gamers, Geeks & Friends! I have read several different “Book Tag” posts in which you would answer questions about books that you have read and pass the questions over to other bloggers to share. These are really interesting blog posts that I desperately want to participate in, but I feel that I have not read enough books to be able to complete the questions. So why not adapt this style of post to something I know and love; Video Games! That’s right gamers, let’s start a Video Game tag and learn more about each other!

  • Thank & Tag the Blogger
  • Shout Out The Creator (GamersUnitedGGBlog)
  • Answer the Questions
  • Tag Other Bloggers (Your choice on the number of Players)
  • Create 5-7 Video Game Questions for your Players to Answer!

  • What is your favorite video game genre (I.E. RPG, FPS, MMO, etc.).
  • Which system do you prefer to game on?
  • Who is your favorite video game character?
  • Which game do you believe has the best plot?
  • What game gave the most hype but didn’t deliver?
  • What game are you waiting for?
  • If you were taken to an island and  forced to only play 3 games, which 3 games would you choose?
  • Which games do you feel have the best replay value,
  • Name 1 Game that you think everyone should play?
  • What game did you grow up on?
  • Which game would you like to see come back?

My responses:

What is your favorite video game genre? There’s so many great genre’s out there but if I had to select my absolute favorite, it would have to be First Person Shooters. Not necessarily First person, but games like Call of Duty, Rainbow Six, Gears of war I thrive on and can’t see myself being without.

Which system do you prefer to game on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, Handheld, Retro, etc.? Xbox One. I have been day 1 A1 with Xbox after the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube went downhill (which I still have of course 🙂 ).

Who is your favorite video game character? Yoshi!!!! Yoshi is currently still relevant and AWESOME! I always play with Yoshi in Mario Kart or Mario Party when he is available. Recently I have used Yoshi to win on Mario & Sonic at the Rio Olympic Games! My swimming game is epic!

Which game do you believe has the best plot? My answer to this question is a game that really didn’t receive a lot of praise, Thief! I really loved the game-play of Thief and how you are able to pickpocket guards and things. It reminds me of the Fable games where if no one sees you commit a crime or act, then you get away with it. Thief had some interesting elements in that you were also developing supernatural abilities along with trying to stop a nefarious character. I love the aspect of solving puzzles along with fighting (although it is not intended for straight up combat, you have to be sneaky).

What game gave the most hype but didn’t deliver? I am going to say Call of Duty Infinite Warfare. I am a little wary of saying this game as I have not played it, not even the Beta. For the past 7 titles or so I have always bought the newest Call of Duty game for midnight release. After watching the pro players play, something about the game was not catching my eye. The game-play seemed liked it was worse off than the last 3 titles. The mechanics and maneuvering were bothering me as the game is set after Call of Duty Ghosts, yet it looked slower. I don’t know that’s just my thought on it.

What game are you waiting for? I would say it is a toss up between Kingdom Hearts 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

If you were taken to an island and  forced to only play 3 games, which 3 games would you choose? This is a hard one. Ughhh, (why did I make this question, I can’t decide between 3 games lol). I would say Gears of War 4, Civilization 6 and Mario Party. I have a FPS, a Strategy Game and a Silly no stress game. I guess these 3 will be my picks, but like 5 games would be better lol.

Which games do you feel have the best replay value? Civilization 6 and The Sims have the best replay values to me. The games can be different depending on the options that you select and with DLC and different game modes a developer can really just keep adding on to the game.

Name 1 Game that you think everyone should play? I think that everyone should play Mario Kart. It is a true classic and for me cannot be replicated. Any version of Mario Kart is fine, old school N64 version, Double Dash or Mario Kart 8! Just get to racing and throwing shells (the blue shell was devastating lol). My favorite map of all time would have to be Wario Stadium from the original Mario Kart game (with and without cheating to jump over the side 🙂 ).

What game did you grow up on? I grew up on Super Nintendo and Sega classics like Street Fighter, Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros and Tetris! Does anyone remember Sonic Spinball? That has to be one of my favorite games.

Which game would you like to see come back? I would like to see Wave Race from Nintendo 64 get a reboot. It was one of my favorite racing games!

My Challengers:

Thank you for taking a look at today’s post! Have a fantastic Saturday and feel free to try out the Video Game Tag!

Stay Gaming!
