I’m Back and Upcoming Posts!

Happy Saturday Gamers and Friends and Welcome Back to GamersUnitedGG! Well, it has been a while since I have blogged or uploaded any video game posts. Life has just been busy, but I’m finally balanced enough to get back to blogging a few times a week ( by a few I mean probably 2 times a week for now). This is going to be a wrap up on what’s been keeping me so busy lately and an intro into the new format and upcoming posts I have planned.

Life: So I started dropping off blogging last year around November when NaNoWriMo hit because I was participating in the challenge. NaNoWriMo takes place every November and writers are encouraged to write a novel (50,000 words or more) in a month. A tall task, but I was more prepared this year than I was last year with a proper outline. The story was the continuation of the book I wrote last year (which I will publish this year).  The Destiny Series follows fictitious rulers in 16th Century Europe and the inaugural book A Diary of Destiny takes place between the sacred pages of a nobleman’s bastard grandson, appointed squire to the King of Tamlonia. Gabriel recounts the events taking place as the King’s Daughter, Princess Ariana has become of age to marry. I’ve had a great time writing this series and look to continue it with book 3.

Work: Work has been busy lately so I’m picking up overtime to save up for my trip in April. Along with my normal job assisting Travel Agents, I’ve started selling Scentsy on the side as well. Scentsy is wax melts, warmers and different product fragrances. This is my 3rd month and it’s a really fun way to make that extra money. I always have my Scentsy Kit with me with testers, catalogs and my beautiful Vega the Unicorn Scentsy Buddy that smells amazing. Never heard of Scentsy, ask me questions!    www.WhiffablesByLuna.com

Upcoming Posts:

  • I am participating in the Tracking Shells collaboration over on Normal Happenings so my post about my fondest Mario Kart memories will be released soon.
  • I’ve been reading the Harry Potter books (for the 1st time) and I have a post or 2 I want to write. The first will be: Which Hogwarts House Should They Really Be In?  I’m really excited about this post, should be completed next week
  • Even though I haven’t been blogging, I have been playing video games way more than last year. I have my first impressions of Lego Harry Potter, I still have a Red Dead Redemption 2 post and new content with the Nintendo Switch.
  • Bookclub: My co-workers and I have started a bookclub in January and I plan to write about the 3 books we have already read.
  • Question of the Month: Kim and Later Levels hosts the gaming questions of the month. I haven’t participated in a few months but I plan on catching up and answering each question since January (because they seem to be connected). I encourage you to also join in on the fun and meet new bloggers by visiting http://www.LaterLevels.com
  • Captain Marvel Movie Review
  • Game of Thrones Countdown

Some exciting posts coming up soon and I’m happy to have the time to balance blogging and life again. What have you been up to? Playing any new games? Watching any new shows? Let’s talk!

GamersUnitedGG Patreon, Pt 2!

Happy Wednesday Players and thank you for tuning into today’s post. So we started a Patreon in October of last year. Patreon allows creators to receive backing from the community to support their creative efforts. In return, the Patrons that pledge will receive a few perks as a thank you for the help and support. I haven’t been using my Patreon or promoting it really at all this year because it was not successful, but now I’m back with a new passion and realization that it wasn’t truly successful because I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING!

I’m a fairly impulsive person and I jumped into Patreon without doing my research and really evaluating how this platform could help the blog. So you know what I did yesterday… I researched! I read other creators tier programs and what they were ultimately using Patreon for. I’m now properly able to launch my Patreon and the Tiers I have set are focused on the blog and being a gamer (rather then the writing tiers I originally started with).

So what does this mean…..

I’m ready to re-launch the Patreon page today with a focus on gaming and providing quality blog content. The Tiers are updated and my Goals are clear.

This is also a way to show how I come up with the different posts and topics. Right now, any pledge will bring access to my “Inside the Mind of A Villain!” audio where I talk about creating the Memoirs of A Villain posts. This week I will also release a snippet of  my book which is in the process of being published.

Villain

Why Start A Patreon?

My intention is to be able to provide more quality posts and grow the blog into a blogging and gaming society. I want gamers to have access to a private Discord server where we can chat and also bounce blogging ideas off of each other. We can also play games together and fully take advantage of the community of gamers just like us.

The Patreon Page is officially Re-Launched and there will be a mention of our Patreon at the bottom of each post going forward. If you would like to help us out on this journey, feel free to donate any amount to the cause.

Are you currently working on a Patreon? What are your goals for the year? Let’s talk!

GamersUnitedGG Blogging Competition & The Winner is…

Happy Wednesday! It’s been a great (& busy) month to start off the year and our GamersUnitedGG Blogging Competition comes to a close today. We have had 3 awesome participants building their own video game and I think that the responses were fantastic in each instance. At the end of Week 2 we had a tie for 1st place between Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie and Daniel from Home Button. Flying Colours has been a great participant and mathematically locked in the 3rd Place prize. Let’s analyze each of the 3 participant’s video games and award the final points to determine the winner.

Flying Colours was the first participant and took a different path than the other 2. Colours placed their responses in the comments of each prompt and came up with a video game that I think is a superhero adventure. The main character was tall, dark and handsome with awesome abilities like flying (I see what you did there) and mind reading. In week 2 we meet a villain that is obsessed with power and control.

Pix1001 really piqued my interest the first week with the main character Osha that I really liked. Osha is a nerdy girl that wants to save the planet, not just it’s inhabitants, but the environment as well. Pix provided a very detailed description of the main character and the description was vivid enough to paint a picture in my head which was awesome! In week 2 Osha’s nemesis and the main villain of the gain was a political mastermind called Mira. Mira is an extremely intelligent villain that did not always start out as an evil mastermind. Mira seems to have become jaded with the way people in the world are and is planning to destroy everything and use the presious resources of the planet to escape to another world. A great villain is relatable and has a story that draws you in and feel as if Mira exemplifies those characteristics. Going into the final week I was questioning how battling would work but Pix delivered! She answered that in her week 3 response with the party battle system. We find out that the game takes place on a planet called Gaia and that you are playing a JRPG game.  The game will launch as a Nintendo Switch Exclusive.

To Pix: “You set distinct goals and it made sense. I loved the dialogue inclusion in your game. Some of the best games have sassy one liners or undercutting remarks that make the game smirk a little. Having your characters make colorful remarks is almost synonmous with Nintendo. I fell in love with your main character and most of your game mesh elements mesh together very well.”

Daniel took yet another approach from the other 2 Players by starting his posts as a dossier or FBI type rundown. I immediately envisioned the voice from unsolved mysteries in the opening package to the game running down the file on Jin Usagi while the typewriter sound plays in the back. In week 1 we are privy to the confidential file of the truth tellers who we find out later are actually the villains. Jin is a man with considerable skill and was apart of the title organization known as Full Arsenal or F.A. In week 2 we get a glimpse of the organization and some of their members from a Truthers perspective. It’s a Suicide Squad type of feel where the government or people in power put together a band of rogues and mercenariess to form a special task team. But of course, being self aware the team realized that they could go out on their own and didn’t need bosses. In the final week Full Arsenal is unveiled at E3 2020 and the trailers along with the developers talk about how the game will function. It’s an open world, choice driven game that will launch on PS4 and Xbox One.

To Daniel: ” Your premise and your methods of delivering your game each week was exciting and a great read. Your character, plot and villains are all outstanding and I can see the game vividly in my head. I really like the choice driven aspect and the option to kill your enemy and take pieces of their armor or spare them and possibly turn them to your side. This element would be cool in many games today.”

All 3 Participants did an amazing job with their video games and thank you for participating. Here’s a reminder of the prizes:

Rewards:

  1.  1st Place will receive a large Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
  2. 2nd Place will receive a small Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
  3. 3rd Place will receive a giftcard!

And the Winner of the GamersUnitedGG competition is…

winner

Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie!

Congratulations to all 3 Players in the competition! I will reach out to each of you individually so that I can send your rewards. Don’t forget to give them a follow if you enjoy their blogs! I think we will host blogging competitions each quarter so make sure to join us again in April! Have a fantastic Wednesday!

1 Year of GamersUnitedGG!

Happy Thursday Novas, Players and Superstars! Yesterday, I received a notification from WordPress and unlocked the Achievement of blogging for 1 year! This past year has been a rollercoaster of emotions and I can’t believe I stuck it out this long. Today’s post is a thank you post for sticking with us throughout the year and a glimpse of what is to come from us here at GamersUnitedGG!

Past:

pacman_multi_agent

I’ve mentioned this before but GamersUnitedGG started as a Gaming Blog but transformed into a place that I can geek out, fan girl out and rant about all of my interests! I really love some of the segments that I have written and I look to bring them back in the future, Meow.

Present:

overwatch

We have launched the GamersUnitedGG YouTube Channel and will be uploading gaming videos 2-3 times a week. I’m getting my editing software by the end of the month so the intros and sound quality will be better in the future. Currently, we have the blogging competition to celebrate the 1 year anniversary going on. Luna’s Rankings posts happen every Tuesday at 11:30am EST where I will rank my top 5 favorite items in a topic from 5th place to 1st place. I’m also asking for your top 5’s so that we can display the “Community Rankings” the following week. This week we’re ranking Game of Thrones characters! The Video Game Tag will be up by the end of the month as well1

Future:

oculus

I’ve signed up to work on the Year of RPG, project with Athena at AmbiGaming. We will also be participating in the GameBlast weekend to raise awareness for Special Effect. Make sure to tune into Later Levels for more information and check out the stream in March! Click here for details! I’m going to be holding a Bi-Monthly blogging competition after the current one! I want to participate in more blogging competitions and collaborations throughout the year.

Acknowledgements:

I wanted to acknowledge some awesome people that I have met over the year of blogging. It’s impossible to mention everyone but I value all of the relationships that I have made and I will continue to make more.

Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek – I met Drew really early in my blogging career and his book reviews mixed with his sarcasm really drew (no pun intended lol) me in. I recently told him this but his blog really inspired me to not conform and write in my own voice. When you start something new, you want desperately to be accepted so you start to lose your way and your voice and Drew’s outlook on his book reviews really connected with me. Somehow, I think he helped me expand beyond just being a video game blog.

Reads & Reels – This was the second book blogger that I followed and I was so grateful to read the reviews. Shenanigans brought a more friendly and understanding side to blogging for me. I really appreciated her comments, feedback and kind words as I trekked along this jungle known as the blogosphere. My first video game review (for Halo Wars 2) was made possible because of Reads & Reels. I built up the confidence to officially review a game and haven’t looked back!

IgnitedMoth – I’ve told her this many times, but I feel as though we are kindred spirits. From the first time I read her blog, about a series that I was interested in, I knew that she would help me on my journey to grow and create. I read through other articles and see how she would talk about comics, books, shows and everything seemed to meld together. Nothing felt out of place. I would wake up and immediately search for any new articles that were written because she had such a great writing style and point of view. I can attribute my diversity to IgnitedMoth for sure! She also introduced me to NaNoWriMo and her version of the national novel writing competition early in the year.

Kim from Later Levels – Kim is one of the first blogging people I met as well. The year brought many collaborations, group messages and her infamous Blog Parties (which I’m always late to lol). Kim is very helpful and has a wonderful outlook on blogging, gaming and community. She will be participating in Game Blast and you can donate to the cause of Special Effect by clicking here.

The Comic Vault– The comic Vault was one of my first comic blogs to follow. I’ve always been fascinated with comics but I haven’t read too many and I’m not familiar with the canon. The Comic Vault introduced me to details about our favorite heroes, villains and sidekicks that I would have not known otherwise.

Precinct1313 – Is the second comic blog I followed and his sense for alliteration, absolutely, astounding and attained me (see what I did there 😉 ). I really love the interviews with comic characters and they inspired me to come up with the Memoirs of A Villain series. I love learning all of the intricacies of comic characters and their personalities. I am most thankful for the spreads on Wonder Woman that started the curve my interest in the hero.

DoubleJump – My Mushroom ranking system for game reviews and first impression posts are thanks to the hearts and lives rankings on Double Jump. Kris and Rachel have an amazing gaming blog and I love seeing how their Mii’s will rate an aspect of a video game. What’s great about their blog is that you will always receive 2 point of views on the review.

Thero159 – I met a while ago and has been a great friend and blogging buddy. Thero has introduced me to the events on FFXIV and with he posts, I was successfully able to complete them. She also introduced me to Offworld Trading Company which I love and the great Humble Bumble subscriptions that I have never used before. Thero has a great diverse mix of video games, comics, books and geeky interests to keep everyone entertained.

Those are some of the people that I have gotten to know over my year in blogging and I’m very grateful to have them. Thank you again for staying with us for a year and here’s to another great year of blogging, friends and most importantly, Video Games!

GamersUnitedGG Blogging Competition: Week 1 Standings!

Happy Wednesday and Power up Players for the GamersunitedGG Blogging Competition Week 1 standings! The blogging competition is going well and I encourage everyone interested to participate! Today we will award the points for Week 1’s prompt. Let’s take a look at the rules:

Game Guide:

  • Each week there will be a topic that you will write about (the prompt posts will be released each Monday at 11:30am EST). This is a 3 week competition!
  • On the designated due date all entries must be posted (you can post anytime before the due date). Submissions after the due date will be reviewed but not submitted for the challenge that week.
  • Make sure to link back to the prompt post (This Post) each week and place a link to your submission post in the comments section.
  • Each week the top 3 posts will receive 10, 7 or 5 points. All other participants will receive 3 points. At the end of the 3rd week, the participant with the most points wins (There will be 3 Winners).

Rewards:

  1.  1st Place will receive a large Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
  2. 2nd Place will receive a small Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
  3. 3rd Place will receive a giftcard!

Challenge Prompt:

  • Week 1: January 8- January 15thYou’re designing a video game and the main character needs to be created. Describe your main character. What 3 power ups or abilities would you choose for the character and why?

Participants:

Flying Colours was the first participant to strike with the blue eyed, handsome male character who could fly!

superman
I think of a Superman type character!

I can see this character being a sort of Superhero in the video game and the added twist of him being able to transform into different people and read their minds backs up my assumption! I really enjoy comics and Superheros so I was excited about what a game with this character would entail.

Pix1001 from Shoot The Rookie came in to save the day with a tree hugging, environment saving, seemingly high angst character called Osha!

splatoon
I think of a cartoonish type character!

Aside from the cool name, Osha’s desription of the  “Torn jeans with big pockets for carrying stuff, short spiky hair and a T-shirt with a picture of her favourite bird on it” reminds me of a teen or young adult character that resembles a character from Splatoon! I can picture big animated features and I rebellious personality.  Pix did a fantatsic job of describing the abilities of Osha and I felt that Invincibility, Haste and Healing matched the character’s personality very well (I mean healing can do wonders for saving the planet!).

Daniel from Home Button was the final level in week 1’s submission and boy did he not disappoint! I really enjoyed Daniel running down the details of his character Jin Usagi in a sort of Dossier, FBI’s Most Wanted kind of fashion.

genji
I think of a Ninja type character!

Off the back I felt as if I were reading crime-fighting, assassin type game.  Jin is a trained killer (or so we believe) and he is “driven by honor, duty and loyalty” which makes him exceptionally charismatic. Daniel’s video game seems a bit darker and reminds me of the games like Metal Gear Solid or L.A Noire. I love how the main character is essentially on the run and portrayed as a high priority target.

All three entrants developed fantasic characters for their games and I can automatically visualize what each character might look like. Now let’s award the points for week one and don’t forget to clik on the links to read each participants’ response!

3rd Place receiving 5 Points – Flying Colours! While I enjoyed and could picture your character the other entrants gave a bit more detail and a name. Read Entry Here!

2nd Place receiving 7 points – Daniel from Home Button! Your entry was really well done and I love the premise! Read Entry Here!

1st Play receiving 10 points – Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie! I reallyyyy enjoyed your entry and the character profile. Your chracter makes me want to play the game immediately without knowing any other details! Read Entry Here!

Thank you for everyone that participated this week! Week 2’s prompt is live and I encourage everyone to enter! Remember, you can still enter week 1 and will receive the 3 Points for participation. The top 3 players with the most points at the end of Week 3 will receive the prizes! Check out week 1 and the official rules by clicking here!

What did you think of the competition on week 1? Who are your favorites and which character did you like the best? Submissions due next Wednesday 1/24/18 for Week 2 which is the Villain of your game!

The Perfectly Imperfect Tag & Thank You!

Happy Monday Players and Novas! This past weekwe have hit over 500 followers and I would like to say a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart. This blogging experience has been amazing and I hope that we can continue improving and providing great content! On to today’s post, we were nominated last October for the Perfectly Imperfect tag by Mahddyboy! Thank you for the nomination and let’s get to the award!

Game Guide (rules)!

  • Copy/paste the image of the tag in your post (I have place above ^.^).
  • Make sure to share a little blurb about the creator of the tag.
  • Give a shout out to the person who nominated you.
  • Talk about what your strengths are, and what you love about yourself. These can range from anything positive about you, or your future aspirations and goals.’
  • Who/what are you inspired by, and how do you want to make a difference?
  • What’s your advice to those that struggle to love themselves, and to those that doubt themselves?
  • Lastly nominate as many bloggers as you would like (ranging from 1 to whichever amount you choose) and let them know that you nominated them.

    The creator

According to Mahddyboy’s blog, the creator of the tag post was a blogger named Asqa. Asqa writes posts about poetry, quotes and DIY’s. Definitely give their blog a look!

My Strengths:

Caring & Loyal – I think 2 of my biggest strengths are that I’m a very caring and loyal person. When you give me your trust and I have yours, I would go to the ends of the earth with you. A perk of being a Taurus I guess. I genuinely care about and want to help out others, especially ones with the same interests. What does that Nickelback song say ” If everybody cared and nobody lied, we’d see the place where nobody died.” I live by those words.

Determination- I really love that when I set my mind to something, I’m determined to succeed. When I look back over the years when I wanted to take dance classes because I was fascinated with shows like So You Think You Can Dance, I researched and found classes that I could take. When I wanted to learn pottery, I found a place that has pottery sessions and the list keeps going on. I wonder if I say this ” I want to win the LOTTERY!!!!” Well let’s see what happens lol.

My Inspiration:

Everything that I am and strive to be is hugely in part to my grandmother who is no longer with us. As a kid, I lived with my grandma and Ialways wondered why my mom didn’t keep my brother and I. She was in the picture but she wasn’t our caretaker and it bothered me for a long time until I was older. My mother knew that we would excel with my grandmother, who was one of the most selfless people that I have ever known. She disciplined us, rewarded us and loved us through everything. She would invite neighborhood kids over and tell me not to judge anyone because you never know their home situation. She’s brought countless children into church and picked them up when they didn’t have a ride. She volunteered at EVERY school function. She was the closest thing in my mind to a real life saint and I thank her and miss her very much. I love you grandma Jeanette.

Advice:

It’s hard to come to terms with loving yourself when there are outlets telling you, you need to change or improve or look a certain way. I would say that you surround yourself with people who care about you for who you are, not who you try  to be or what you can do for them. We always wish to be more then we are which is fine if you want to make positive changes or improve, but don’t bash yourself or your abilities. Find people who embraces them and strives for you to be better. The fortune cookie this week said it perfectly about fear and doubt “You fail 100% of the things you do not attempt.” Make the effort and surprise yourself, you’re a winner for overcoming your fear already!

My nominees:

Thank you again to Mahddyboy for nominating us and I apologize for the late reply! Have a fantastic Wednesday and look out for our Video Game Tag coming up in the coming weeks! You can read the first Video Game Tag by clicking here!

Thanksgiving Picks

Happy Thanksgiving Novas!

It is Thanksgiving which means millions of Americans are anxiously awaiting to stuff their mouths with some home cooked Turkey and all of the fixings that come with it like sweet potato casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and everything else that can puts us in a food coma!

foodcoma.jpg

Now don’t get me wrong, Thanksgiving is also filled with family drama, football, the Macy’s Holiday parade, and everyone looking fly as hell walking around the house! It’s a big deal to most families and is widely celebrated around the country. Most of our Thanksgiving feasts serve some of the same things and Luna and I have come up with our Top 5 Thanksgiving Food Picks that we have to have on our plate!

Nagems-

  • 1. Turkey with Cranberry Sauce on Top
    • Duhh. Unless you are Vegan or Vegetarian, neither one of these two should beturkey missing from your plate! I love to eat cranberry sauce with each bite of Turkey. The two of them together is heaven!
  • 2. Mashed Potatoes without Gravy
    • Yes, I know, it’s a crime to eat potatoes by themselves but my gawd I am not a big fan of gravy. Potatoes are one of my favorite foods in the entire world! They are so versatile and if your a fata** like me, you like to dip your bread in the potatoes like it’s butter….kirby
  • 3. Stuffing
    • Stuffing makes my taste buds sing and I like when they do that! My grandmother has a bomba** stuffing recipe that my mother makes and each bite is delicious! I can’t wait!
  • 4. Corn.
    • Don’t fight me on this. Yes, it’s a boring vegetable that you can have anytime of the year but my golly I can’t help myself. Plus, aren’t we supposed to have a bunch of colors on our plates??
  • 5. Pumpkin Pie with Whip Creamonepeice
    • This classic never goes out of style during the Holiday Season and always makes it onto my plate…a couple of times…..

Luna-

  • 1. Stuffing
    • The homemade stuffing is one of my favorite dishes (other than Turkey of course). My family makes different stuffings each year from traditional, to cornbread to a cranberry pecan stuffing! Mmmm mmm bring it on, I love my great aunts and cousins trying to one up each others stuffings!untitled
  • 2. Corn Casserole
    • This is a new addition to our annual Thanksgiving. A few years ago, I was heavily invested in the cooking network. I watched Paula Deen one day and she made this corn casserole with sour cream, cheese, creamed corn and more and I’ve been hooked ever since!
  • 3. Greens!
    • My family has to have a giant pot of greens on the stove. It’s not Thanksgiving without the family greens with ham hocks or neck bones. I remember I used to hate greens growing up, but grandma always made me eat them. Now they are a staple on my plate and sometimes, I go back for seconds!
  • 4. Yellow Rice
    • Yellow rice is a great food to combine with my stuffing and cranberry sauce., I mix them together, put a piece of Turkey on a roll and have at it. anigif-enhanced-31422-1445455077-2
  • 5. Sweet Potato Pie
    • My favorite dessert is the homemade Sweet Potato Pie. My aunts will always have pie and another mystery dessert. While the mystery desserts are fun, the sweet potato pie always come home with me!

We hope everyone has a wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving! Make sure to say what you are grateful for this year and to unbuckle your belt before you start eating!!!
