Blogger Blitzers Unite: An Ian Appreciation Post!

Congratulations to the Finalists and the Winner of the 2nd Blogger Blitz Competition! You can read the final results by clicking here!

There are some people who come into your life and make it better. They bring out the best in you. Ian from Adventure Rules is one of those people. Last year he challenged the blogging community to participate in a Community Event known as the Blogger Blitz. As the 2nd Blogger Blitz comes to a close, I wanted to show appreciation by saying how much this event has helped me in blogging. Ian puts his heart and soul into making this event special with the drawings, the brainstorming for events and the way that he promotes each blogger in the competition. It’s admirable to see someone put so much effort into a project that lasts over a month. To have his dedication as strong at the end of the event as it was at the beginning is something that I hope to achieve and learn from. It may not be obvious to him, but Ian has helped cultivate the Video Game Blogging Community!

Personal Impact:

Last year I entered the competition with my character the Joker in a Matchmaking challenge to find love against Link who was sponsored by Teri at Sheikah Plate.

link-vs-joker-start
Great Drawing Ian!

Although I lost in the first round, the experience and passion for my writing burned inside of me and allowed me to start an idea that I had mulling over in my brain for a few months prior. I was able to finally define and initiate my Memoirs of A Villain post. If not for Ian’s event, I may not have ever started the Villains post speaking out on the injustice against Villains in the world!

Not only was I able to participate and meet awesome bloggers, I was also able to test my first person writing style. This was important because I participated in NaNoWriMo last year and my novel is written entirely in first person. I was struggling with the writing style and Ian’s event allowed me to practice.

I am hosting my own Community Event with the Video Game Reality House that starts Monday 10/1/18. I thank Ian because I was able to fully develop this idea based on his progressions with the Blogger Blitz. His guidance allowed a spark of an idea to flourish into a full fledged event that I hope goes over as well as his Blogger Blitz.

Community Impact:

Ian works extremely hard on bringing the Blogger Blitz to the Community of Bloggers and his dedication allows us to have fun and do what we love best. In last year’s competition I recall bloggers saying that they’re shy with their writing and didn’t have much confidence. The feedback that they’ve received from the competition helped reinforce their choices to write and know that they are worth the read.

This year one of last year’s  judges Chris from OverthinkerY, placed his hat in the ring and was on the other side. He has first hand experience on the judges and competitors point of view. His champion Master Xehanort was exquisite this season and he posted in interview formats that were a first in the competition. Chris wrote with passion to honor the event and he did justice to his character.  tumblr_njpf0grVvU1tob1xvo1_r1_500

Ian would always post comments on the competitors submissions with kind words of encouragement. He appreciated ever person that took time out to compete, judge and read the blitz posts.

This month he is also the star blogger for Later Level’s Question of the Month! His prompt challenges gamers again by proposing the question of creating the ultimate video game using 4 games that have already been released. You will want to pick each game for Storytelling, Visuals, Game-play and Music and compile an Ultimate Video Game! You can participate in his challenge here!

Thank you Ian for all that you do to help improve and push the boundaries of the blogging community. If you have not had a chance to follow or read the Adventure Rules blog, you’re missing out.

Want to read more gushing appreciation posts about Ian? Look below (Guess you’ve created another community event without event knowing Ian, you’re amazing!)

Thank you for Ian all that you do and thank you to everyone in the blogging community! Enjoy your weekend!

GamersUnitedGG Community Event: Video Game Reality House!

Happy Friday Players! GamersUnitedGG will be launching our 2nd Community Event on October 1st.

We are starting a Video Game Reality House and the interview process for the characters to be accepted is brutal. You can help us narrow down the characters that will be admitted into Season 1. To participate, post a blog response with the video game character you would like to see in the house and your reasons why they would win! You can link your responses in the comments so that our Producers can review and vote. The final cast will be revealed between now and Episode 1’s start date of October 1st so post your responses by September 17th!

Additional details on the event and other ways to participate will be unveiled over the coming month on the blog and Twitter.

What is the Video Game Reality House?

Contestants will be placed in a house where the goal is to be crowned the Video Game Champion. Like many Reality Shows, the characters will have to survive the social and physical games to make it to the Final Boss Battle. Contestants will compete in video game related challenges where a MVP will be crowned. The MVP will have immunity for the week and gain privileges to help further their position in the game. At the end of each week, characters will be nominated for elimination and 1 or more characters will run out of lives.

How you can participate:

The community will be able to try and save their favorite characters via the Twitter Instant Save Vote or by writing a Confessional Post on the Wednesday before the elimination. The Confessional Posts will be your way to champion for your character as to why they shouldn’t be eliminated and add to the excitement of the Reality Show by revealing secrets the character may have witnessed during the week.

Confessional: Snake from Metal Gear Solid

After the challenge today we all gathered back at the house for a barbecue. Everyone was off in their cliques talking strategy and preparing for the elimination vote and I was doing my own thing…

They’ll Never See Me Coming!

hanging out in boxes you know. I overheard 2 Players scheming on a member of their alliance. They’re planning to get the other Players in the House to vote for their buddy in the coming elimination. This is why I prefer to stay close to my box… you can’t trust anyone. Who were the 2 culprits you say? You’d never believe me if I told you…

The Confessionals can be used to save your character, throw others under the bus and cause more drama for the eliminations and episodes. Nothing is off limits in the confessionals.

The Twitter Instant Save Vote will be posted on The GamersUnitedGG Twitter from Tuesday until Thursday as a Pinned Message. You can vote to instantly save a character from being eliminated.

Both the Confessional Posts and Twitter Instant Saves will be taken into account during the eliminations each Friday.

What Next?

Now we start the selection process for the video game characters that should be placed in the house for Season 1. 16 Characters in total will be chosen for this first season.  You can nominate 1 or multiple characters up until September 17th. Tune into the blog and Twitter to see which Characters have been selected! Well, what are you waiting for? Post to your blog which video game characters would be great additions to the Video Game Reality Show and don’t forget to link your responses in the comments so that we can see who you are nominating.

I’m super excited for this event and hopefully this can turn into a multi-season community event! Have Fun!

GamersUnitedGG Blogging Challenge: Week 2 Standings!

Happy Wednesday and Power up Players for the GamersunitedGG Blogging Competition Week 2 standings! The blogging competition is going well and I encourage everyone interested to participate! Today we will award the points for Week 2’s prompt. Let’s take a look at the rules:

  • On the designated due date all entries must be posted (you can post anytime before the due date). Submissions after the due date will be reviewed but not submitted for the challenge that week.
  • Make sure to link back to the prompt post (This Post) each week and place a link to your submission post in the comments section.
  • Each week the top 3 posts will receive 10, 7 or 5 points. All other participants will receive 3 points. At the end of the 3rd week, the participant with the most points wins (There will be 3 Winners).

Rewards:

  1.  1st Place will receive a large Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
  2. 2nd Place will receive a small Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
  3. 3rd Place will receive a giftcard!

Challenge Prompt:

Week 2: January 15th – January 22ndA great video game would be nothing without a compelling villain, who is this villain and what is their goal?

Participants:

Flying Colours answered first this week with a monstrous villain who wants to be king. He takes from the poor and crushes anyone who is weak. I like this villain and I can see him in 2 ways. First being a literal monster with sharp claws, slimy skin and being tall. His character would be something like Bowser (whom I love and I promise the Memoirs of a Villain post will be up soon). Bowser King of the Koopas and ready to do what’s necessary to stay in power. I can also see the character being a mortal man who’s appearance is not known, so the townspeople make him into a beast!

Daniel from Home Button struck next with his gang of Villains and title titans Full Arsenal. His villains are a group of mercenaries put together to assist in a government crisis. But you know how that turned out right? F.A ended up drinking in power and realizing that they do not have to answer to anyone, they are super skilled and well funded enough to do what they want. Suicide-Squadblu-12132016 I think of the Suicide Squad when I think about Full Arsenal, but more hi-tech based. The Suicide Squad is a gang of villains put together to help save the world… but I mean, what do they get out it? Total Chaos!

Pix1001 came up the political plunderer Mira as her villain! she’s described as having “… long violet hair, a short-sword tucked into her floor length cape and a devious look in her eyes.”  Mira seems really intelligent so I can see her being a huge problem for anyone who crosses her. She is planning to destroy everyone and everything that Earth is and she may just get what she wants! raven The cape and dark hair reminds me of Raven from Teen Titan. Mira sounds like a great villain!

Thank you again to all 3 participants in this week challenge! Now let’s award the points for week 2 and don’t forget to click on their links to read each participants’ response!

3rd Place receiving 5 Points – Flying Colours!Your monsterous villain seems like he would work well against your main character! Read their entry here!

2nd Place receiving 7 points-Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie Mira is a great villain and I think she works really well versus your main character. Read her entry here!

1st Play receiving 10 points-Daniel from Home ButtonI really enjoyed your entry and the villains sound super cool. I love the idea of a team of rogues doing what they want. Read his entry here!

Overall Standings:

3rd Place with 10 points = Flying Colours

Tied for First with 17 points = Pix1001 & Daniel

Thank you for everyone that participated this week! Week 3’s prompt is live and I encourage everyone to enter! 12 Days of Christmas: Day 6, A Gift for Santa!

Merry Christmas Eve and Happy Holidays Reindeers and Snowflakes! We are coming up on a week of Festive Holiday posts in the 12 Days of Christmas: Gamer’s Edition event hosted by Kim over at Later Levels! A quick update, Kim was lovely enough to give us a few days off from the collaboration post so that we can enjoy time with family and friends. With that said, this will be the last post until Wednesday, December 27th! Take this time to enjoy each other and if you need to catch up on our first 5 posts, the links will be posted below. Don’t forget about the other Reindeers taking part in the festive fun! I will include a few of their links in the remaining posts as well. Head on over to the Workshop at Later Levels for official rules if you would like to participate!

Today’s Topic is…..

You’re woken from your drunken haze by another frantic call from Santa, who’s worried he’s not going to make all his deliveries in time. Which video game item or vehicle would you recommend for him?

Awesome! We’re helping Santa deliver the presents. I meannnn I have already posted on a great character that can assist Santa and even do a better job than Santa on December’s Question of the Month. Check out the video game character that could step in and take Santa’s place if her were ever abducted or missing!

So I have been playing Final Fantasy XIV Online lately and the game is very fun. In most MMO and RPG games, there is a teleportation system of some sort. In FFXIV, you teleport by Aether Stones placed in every region of the game. aether

Pros:

  1. Santa can quickly evaporate and reappear in a designated area of the world within an instant!

Cons:

  • Aether Stones are not free. You have to pay gil (in game currency) to travel and depending on your location, you may be spending 500+ gil to teleport each time.
  • You can only teleport to Aether Stones that you have already attuned. Which means you would have had to visit the area that you are traveling to. This can be difficult as new residential areas are being developed/.
  • Has anyone really done the research on these Aether Stones? I would be afraid that too much teleporting would burn out my brain cells or something. That can’t be good for their bone density? Just Saying!

Sooo that was my cheeky answer but not my real response. While the use of Aether Stones would be easy, it can start racking up like taking a toll roll. Santa would have to start charging premiums for areas that are farther from the North Pole. I mean the man works on COOKIES! There’s no way that Santa can pay the travel cost and I’m sure that the whole “Ho, Ho, Ho I’m Santa Claus” thing can only get him free travel so many times. “Merry Christmas to you too St. Nick… that’ll be 234 gil please!”

My response has more holes in it than swiss cheese, but it’s funny so why not? I would recommend that Santa uses DeRagen ( a boss dragon from Phantasy Star Universe) DeRagan-2 or the Dragon from Skyrim to help make his deliveries! Think about it, a dragon is an excellent means of transportation AND they’re super long so they will have plenty of space to hold the presents. I figure the dragon’s scales can be rigged up like a pirate ship, with rope ties so that Santa can drop the presents in the Chimney. Also, I figure not many children these days are getting great gifts so Santa will have an UNLIMITED supply of COAL! He can throw branches for the dragons to burn and the resulting charcoal will fall in the place of the gifts. It’s full proof!

**No Dragons were harmed in the making of this post!**

12 Days of Christmas: Gaming Edition! Day 5: Cheeky Kiss!

Happy Holidays Players! Today is day number 5 for the Creative Christmas Gaming Collaboration hosted by our friend Kim over at Later Levels! The rules are simple, post your response to the questions designated for each day and share the Holiday fun with the blog-o-sphere! Make sure to check out posts from our friends participating as well! Want to join in on the fun and spread your holiday cheer? Check out the rules here!

Today’s topic is…

The party is still going strong and you find yourself conveniently positioned under the mistletoe. Which video game character would you call over for a cheeky kiss?

This is a no brainer for me. Everyone knows of the iconic WWE 2K18 game right? I would call over the cover Superstar, none other than my husband SETH FREAKIN’ ROLLINS!

I mean of course he would be the character that I would call over, but since that was a bit of a cheap answer, I will also provide another.

Scorpion from Mortal Kombat would be a great choice. I have always been a Scorpion fan to a bit of a mild obsession with the character back in my youth. Here’s how it would go down:

Mario has invited all of the video game characters over to the Mushroom Kingdom and Peach’s Castle for his annual Holiday Party! This time, chosen gamers were on the guest list and yours truly received an E-vite!  mario  This was it, my chance to finally meet some of my heroes (and Villains :P) from my childhood and let’s face it adulthood as well.  I’ve decided on wearing a nice little gamer dress to show appreciation for the Mushroom Kingdom and hopefully score cool kid points from my host.

gamer dress
Snazzy right?

Right on schedule a warp pipe arrived at 6:00pm on the dot and it was time for me to take my leave of the world for 1 night. I quickly hopped in the pipe and was off to the party.

warp pipe

The warp pipe dropped my gently at the front door of Peach’s Royal Castle. I wonder if her husband Bowser will drop by and “‘kidnap” her for the night lol. This definitely seems like a night where the 2 lovers can escape unnoticed. I reached out and pressed the Star shaped doorbell and was greeted by Toad and Yoshi! Instantly I gave him a hug and presented my invitation to the festivities. Toad bowed to me and escorted me inside.

toad

The guest list was top notch! I was greeted by characters like Sonic, Cayde-6 from Destiny 2, Vegeta and Trunks and many more characters that I have come to know and love. There’s was a great spread of food on the table so I strutted on over and grabbed a few cookies. Right as I was getting ready to pour a glass of eggnog, I caught a glimpse of Scorpion in the corner. He was staring at me… I think. Frantically a looked behind me because surely he was looking at someone else. But no one was around me. I flashed scorpion a flirty smile and took a sip of the eggnog, ughhh Wario spiked it, not bad though. Before I could make a move I hear the echo of “Get Over Here” and scorpion pulls me close.

Lakitu, always the stalker… eww well journalist,  lakitu flies over us and a string of mistletoe hovers. I shrug my shoulders and kiss scorpion on the cheek. The rest of the night I mingled with the absolute best in gaming, but one thing crossed my mind. I didn’t see Peach or Bowser the entire night. Guess it was a Happy Holiday for all parties involved!

12 Days of Christmas Day 3: Santa’s Video Game Helper!

Happy Holidays Players! We are celebrating 12 days of Christmas with our blogging buddies over at Later Levels! This month we will all post answers to the questions in a very gaming Christmas Collaboration on select days! The rules are simple, post your response to the questions designated for each day and share the Holiday fun with the blog-o-sphere! Make sure to check out posts from our friends participating as well! Want to join in on the fun and spread your holiday cheer? Check out the rules here!

Today’s question is…

You receive a call from Santa, as the elves desperately need a hand in the workshop getting all the toys ready. Which video game character would you recruit to help out?

After mulling it over in my hand I have decided to select ClapTrap from borderlands! Claptrap is a robot that assists your character in your missions. Claptrap is funny and handy as he has just about everything one would need in a workshop. Looking for a tool? Claptrap’s got it! Need schematics to assemble a toy? Claptrap’s got it!

claptrap
Borderlands Wiki

Claptrap is a CL4P-TP general purpose robot manufactured by Hyperion. It has been programmed with an over enthusiastic personality, and brags frequently, yet also expresses severe loneliness and cowardice.

Thinking about it further,  I have also decided to select Miles “Tails” Prower from the Sonic the Hedgehog Series! Oh did you forget  that Tails is a whiz at building? Sure he focuses more on electronics but what kids do you know who are NOT asking for electronics for the holidays? Tails is very smart and will be able to assist the elves in putting together and fixing all sorts of modern items. He can work in tandem with Claptrap by building the electronics (tablets, gaming consoles, Nintendo DS) from the schematics that Claptrap has provided. I know that with either of these video game helpers, Santa and the elves will be able to make their deliveries with all of the toys on the list! Moreover, having both Tails and Claptrap is a recipe for success and the elves will be able to have a well deserved cup of hot cocoa before Santa leaves!
