GamersUnitedGG is Nominated for the Liebster Award!

Happy Thursday Novas, Players and SuperStars! I’m behind on the award nominations but I will definitely have another next week Thursday and the Thursday after that to catch up. The Blogging awards are a way to show recognition to your fellow bloggers and I love participating in them. We were nominated for the Liebster Award by our friend That Geeky Writer Chick over at A Fistful of Glitter (love the name). Her blog is amazing and she talks about all kind of geeky topics like books, video games and she even participated in the Creative Christmas Collaboration put on by Kim at Later Levels! Always a good read so you should check her out and give her a follow if you like her blog!

Liebster Award Preview:

It’s an award in which bloggers nominate other bloggers for showing respect to their works and their dedication. It’s an appreciation and recognition for all the fellow bloggers out there in the blogosphere..!!

Game Guide:

  • Write about it on your blog and thank the person who nominated you , write about his blog too.
  • Display the award on your blog.
  • Nominate 5 or 10 blogs which you feel deserve it.
  • Let the nominees know that you nominated them.

Don’t forget to create 10 questions for them to answer. Notify your nominees and provide a link to your post so that they’ll know what to do. Once you’re done, come back here and comment with the link to your post so I can check out your answers.

Questions:

  • What’s your favourite thing to write about?
  • What’s your favourite media to experience? (Book, video games, movies ect.)
  • If you had to live in a fictional world, which fictional world would it be?
  • Who is your all-time favourite character? Why?
  • If you could have any power from a video game, movie, television show or book, what would it be? And why?
  • What is your favourite meal?
  • What is your favourite comedy show or sketch?
  • What is your name?
  • What is your favourite colour?
  • What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

My Answers:

What’s your favourite thing to write about? I love writing about video games the most. It was the reason that I started the blog in the first place. I have transitioned into writing about other topics like Netflix or just creative writing (should do more prompts). Because I love to talk and have a lot of interests, I try to convert that into a blog post of some sort.

What’s your favourite media to experience? (Book, video games, movies ect.) Video games would probably being my number 1 media. Closely behind would be Television. I love finding a great show or documentary that I can binge watch. Currently, I’ve been logging hours in Civilization 6 (since I bought it in this month’s humble bundle) and I have been watching documentaries on Marie Antoinette and Versailles. It’s been a great week for binge watching and indulging in video games but not so much a week for blogging. Gotta get back to it!

If you had to live in a fictional world, which fictional world would it be? I would love to live in a world of Fairies or like a cartoon world. I think living in a world with fairies, trolls and bright colors would be my choice though. I imagine I would be able to use magic, see fairy tale creatures such as dragons, unicorns and sprites and everyone’s features will be exaggerated.

Who is your all-time favorite character? Why? Yoshi is my favorite character of all time. Mario has been a staple in my gaming life for as long as I remember and I was always drawn to Yoshi. When yoshi had his first game in Yoshi’s Islands, I was super happy. I play with Yoshi in every Mario game that I can (although Boo is starting to become a favorite of mines lol). Now if we are talking more than video games, Scooby Doo is my pick! Scoobert has always been my favorite character and my room is filled with stuffed Scoobies, Scooby Pillows and different items with my crime solving companion.  scooby

If you could have any power from a video game, movie, television show or book, what would it be? And why? Being able to fly is a given, but a power that I always wanted to have was the power of telekinesis & telepathy. Being able to move things with your mind (like in Matilda) and being able to communicate or read others thoughts would be really fun. I would only want these powers if I could control it though, can you imagine not being able to turn of the mind reading ability… Yikes!

What is your favourite meal? Anything with beef and potatoes! I’m always in the mood for potatoes or a big greasy burger lol.

beef
mmmmmmm

What is your favorite comedy show or sketch? I really like Jeff Dunham’s comedy routines. He is a ventriloquist and uses puppets to tell stories. He’s really funny and coming to Orlando in a few months. I have to try and find tickets. If we are talking about one of my favorite sketches,  I guess I could use Robot Chicken right? I didn’t really watch the show but my friend showed me a clip of Senator Palpatine talking to Darth Vader. It’s priceless lol.

What is your name? My name is LaQuita but since I think my spirit animal is most definitely a cat, I go by Luna.

What is your favorite color? My favorite color is purple. More specifically, Lavender!

What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow? Meow? lol

My Questions:

  • What is your favorite video game and why?
  • Why do you blog?
  • What are your favorite hobbies?
  • Are you looking forward to any movies this year?
  • Do you collect anything? If so then what?
  • What is your perfect day?
  • If you have $1 million dollars, what would you do?
  • What show would you like to or are currently binge watching?
  • What is your favorite movie?
  • Tell me something interesting about yourself

My Players are:

GamersUnitedGG Blogging Competition & The Winner is…

Happy Wednesday! It’s been a great (& busy) month to start off the year and our GamersUnitedGG Blogging Competition comes to a close today. We have had 3 awesome participants building their own video game and I think that the responses were fantastic in each instance. At the end of Week 2 we had a tie for 1st place between Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie and Daniel from Home Button. Flying Colours has been a great participant and mathematically locked in the 3rd Place prize. Let’s analyze each of the 3 participant’s video games and award the final points to determine the winner.

Flying Colours was the first participant and took a different path than the other 2. Colours placed their responses in the comments of each prompt and came up with a video game that I think is a superhero adventure. The main character was tall, dark and handsome with awesome abilities like flying (I see what you did there) and mind reading. In week 2 we meet a villain that is obsessed with power and control.

Pix1001 really piqued my interest the first week with the main character Osha that I really liked. Osha is a nerdy girl that wants to save the planet, not just it’s inhabitants, but the environment as well. Pix provided a very detailed description of the main character and the description was vivid enough to paint a picture in my head which was awesome! In week 2 Osha’s nemesis and the main villain of the gain was a political mastermind called Mira. Mira is an extremely intelligent villain that did not always start out as an evil mastermind. Mira seems to have become jaded with the way people in the world are and is planning to destroy everything and use the presious resources of the planet to escape to another world. A great villain is relatable and has a story that draws you in and feel as if Mira exemplifies those characteristics. Going into the final week I was questioning how battling would work but Pix delivered! She answered that in her week 3 response with the party battle system. We find out that the game takes place on a planet called Gaia and that you are playing a JRPG game.  The game will launch as a Nintendo Switch Exclusive.

To Pix: “You set distinct goals and it made sense. I loved the dialogue inclusion in your game. Some of the best games have sassy one liners or undercutting remarks that make the game smirk a little. Having your characters make colorful remarks is almost synonmous with Nintendo. I fell in love with your main character and most of your game mesh elements mesh together very well.”

Daniel took yet another approach from the other 2 Players by starting his posts as a dossier or FBI type rundown. I immediately envisioned the voice from unsolved mysteries in the opening package to the game running down the file on Jin Usagi while the typewriter sound plays in the back. In week 1 we are privy to the confidential file of the truth tellers who we find out later are actually the villains. Jin is a man with considerable skill and was apart of the title organization known as Full Arsenal or F.A. In week 2 we get a glimpse of the organization and some of their members from a Truthers perspective. It’s a Suicide Squad type of feel where the government or people in power put together a band of rogues and mercenariess to form a special task team. But of course, being self aware the team realized that they could go out on their own and didn’t need bosses. In the final week Full Arsenal is unveiled at E3 2020 and the trailers along with the developers talk about how the game will function. It’s an open world, choice driven game that will launch on PS4 and Xbox One.

To Daniel: ” Your premise and your methods of delivering your game each week was exciting and a great read. Your character, plot and villains are all outstanding and I can see the game vividly in my head. I really like the choice driven aspect and the option to kill your enemy and take pieces of their armor or spare them and possibly turn them to your side. This element would be cool in many games today.”

All 3 Participants did an amazing job with their video games and thank you for participating. Here’s a reminder of the prizes:

Rewards:

  1.  1st Place will receive a large Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
  2. 2nd Place will receive a small Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
  3. 3rd Place will receive a giftcard!

And the Winner of the GamersUnitedGG competition is…

winner

Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie!

Congratulations to all 3 Players in the competition! I will reach out to each of you individually so that I can send your rewards. Don’t forget to give them a follow if you enjoy their blogs! I think we will host blogging competitions each quarter so make sure to join us again in April! Have a fantastic Wednesday!

GamersUnitedGG Blogging Competition: Week 1 Standings!

Happy Wednesday and Power up Players for the GamersunitedGG Blogging Competition Week 1 standings! The blogging competition is going well and I encourage everyone interested to participate! Today we will award the points for Week 1’s prompt. Let’s take a look at the rules:

Game Guide:

  • Each week there will be a topic that you will write about (the prompt posts will be released each Monday at 11:30am EST). This is a 3 week competition!
  • On the designated due date all entries must be posted (you can post anytime before the due date). Submissions after the due date will be reviewed but not submitted for the challenge that week.
  • Make sure to link back to the prompt post (This Post) each week and place a link to your submission post in the comments section.
  • Each week the top 3 posts will receive 10, 7 or 5 points. All other participants will receive 3 points. At the end of the 3rd week, the participant with the most points wins (There will be 3 Winners).

Rewards:

  1.  1st Place will receive a large Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
  2. 2nd Place will receive a small Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
  3. 3rd Place will receive a giftcard!

Challenge Prompt:

  • Week 1: January 8- January 15thYou’re designing a video game and the main character needs to be created. Describe your main character. What 3 power ups or abilities would you choose for the character and why?

Participants:

Flying Colours was the first participant to strike with the blue eyed, handsome male character who could fly!

superman
I think of a Superman type character!

I can see this character being a sort of Superhero in the video game and the added twist of him being able to transform into different people and read their minds backs up my assumption! I really enjoy comics and Superheros so I was excited about what a game with this character would entail.

Pix1001 from Shoot The Rookie came in to save the day with a tree hugging, environment saving, seemingly high angst character called Osha!

splatoon
I think of a cartoonish type character!

Aside from the cool name, Osha’s desription of the  “Torn jeans with big pockets for carrying stuff, short spiky hair and a T-shirt with a picture of her favourite bird on it” reminds me of a teen or young adult character that resembles a character from Splatoon! I can picture big animated features and I rebellious personality.  Pix did a fantatsic job of describing the abilities of Osha and I felt that Invincibility, Haste and Healing matched the character’s personality very well (I mean healing can do wonders for saving the planet!).

Daniel from Home Button was the final level in week 1’s submission and boy did he not disappoint! I really enjoyed Daniel running down the details of his character Jin Usagi in a sort of Dossier, FBI’s Most Wanted kind of fashion.

genji
I think of a Ninja type character!

Off the back I felt as if I were reading crime-fighting, assassin type game.  Jin is a trained killer (or so we believe) and he is “driven by honor, duty and loyalty” which makes him exceptionally charismatic. Daniel’s video game seems a bit darker and reminds me of the games like Metal Gear Solid or L.A Noire. I love how the main character is essentially on the run and portrayed as a high priority target.

All three entrants developed fantasic characters for their games and I can automatically visualize what each character might look like. Now let’s award the points for week one and don’t forget to clik on the links to read each participants’ response!

3rd Place receiving 5 Points – Flying Colours! While I enjoyed and could picture your character the other entrants gave a bit more detail and a name. Read Entry Here!

2nd Place receiving 7 points – Daniel from Home Button! Your entry was really well done and I love the premise! Read Entry Here!

1st Play receiving 10 points – Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie! I reallyyyy enjoyed your entry and the character profile. Your chracter makes me want to play the game immediately without knowing any other details! Read Entry Here!

Thank you for everyone that participated this week! Week 2’s prompt is live and I encourage everyone to enter! Remember, you can still enter week 1 and will receive the 3 Points for participation. The top 3 players with the most points at the end of Week 3 will receive the prizes! Check out week 1 and the official rules by clicking here!

What did you think of the competition on week 1? Who are your favorites and which character did you like the best? Submissions due next Wednesday 1/24/18 for Week 2 which is the Villain of your game!

The Perfectly Imperfect Tag & Thank You!

Happy Monday Players and Novas! This past weekwe have hit over 500 followers and I would like to say a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart. This blogging experience has been amazing and I hope that we can continue improving and providing great content! On to today’s post, we were nominated last October for the Perfectly Imperfect tag by Mahddyboy! Thank you for the nomination and let’s get to the award!

Game Guide (rules)!

  • Copy/paste the image of the tag in your post (I have place above ^.^).
  • Make sure to share a little blurb about the creator of the tag.
  • Give a shout out to the person who nominated you.
  • Talk about what your strengths are, and what you love about yourself. These can range from anything positive about you, or your future aspirations and goals.’
  • Who/what are you inspired by, and how do you want to make a difference?
  • What’s your advice to those that struggle to love themselves, and to those that doubt themselves?
  • Lastly nominate as many bloggers as you would like (ranging from 1 to whichever amount you choose) and let them know that you nominated them.

    The creator

According to Mahddyboy’s blog, the creator of the tag post was a blogger named Asqa. Asqa writes posts about poetry, quotes and DIY’s. Definitely give their blog a look!

My Strengths:

Caring & Loyal – I think 2 of my biggest strengths are that I’m a very caring and loyal person. When you give me your trust and I have yours, I would go to the ends of the earth with you. A perk of being a Taurus I guess. I genuinely care about and want to help out others, especially ones with the same interests. What does that Nickelback song say ” If everybody cared and nobody lied, we’d see the place where nobody died.” I live by those words.

Determination- I really love that when I set my mind to something, I’m determined to succeed. When I look back over the years when I wanted to take dance classes because I was fascinated with shows like So You Think You Can Dance, I researched and found classes that I could take. When I wanted to learn pottery, I found a place that has pottery sessions and the list keeps going on. I wonder if I say this ” I want to win the LOTTERY!!!!” Well let’s see what happens lol.

My Inspiration:

Everything that I am and strive to be is hugely in part to my grandmother who is no longer with us. As a kid, I lived with my grandma and Ialways wondered why my mom didn’t keep my brother and I. She was in the picture but she wasn’t our caretaker and it bothered me for a long time until I was older. My mother knew that we would excel with my grandmother, who was one of the most selfless people that I have ever known. She disciplined us, rewarded us and loved us through everything. She would invite neighborhood kids over and tell me not to judge anyone because you never know their home situation. She’s brought countless children into church and picked them up when they didn’t have a ride. She volunteered at EVERY school function. She was the closest thing in my mind to a real life saint and I thank her and miss her very much. I love you grandma Jeanette.

Advice:

It’s hard to come to terms with loving yourself when there are outlets telling you, you need to change or improve or look a certain way. I would say that you surround yourself with people who care about you for who you are, not who you try  to be or what you can do for them. We always wish to be more then we are which is fine if you want to make positive changes or improve, but don’t bash yourself or your abilities. Find people who embraces them and strives for you to be better. The fortune cookie this week said it perfectly about fear and doubt “You fail 100% of the things you do not attempt.” Make the effort and surprise yourself, you’re a winner for overcoming your fear already!

My nominees:

Thank you again to Mahddyboy for nominating us and I apologize for the late reply! Have a fantastic Wednesday and look out for our Video Game Tag coming up in the coming weeks! You can read the first Video Game Tag by clicking here!

The Unique Blogger Award!

Happy Wednesday Novas! This week I was nominated for the Unique Blogger award by the lovely Blogging Holly! Thank you Holly and everyone should definitely checkout here blog! It’s filled with great poems and short stories and I love reading them!

Game Guide (or The Rules lol):

  • Share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you.
  • Answer the questions.
  • In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 people for the same award.
  • Ask them 3 questions.

Here are the questions I was asked from Holly!

What are the goals you have set for your blog and how do you hope to achieve those goals?

The goals I have set for the blog are everchanging. When I started the blog, it was supposed to be an extension of the GamersUnitedGG website where gamers could watch streams and upload videos. Quickly I loved blogging more than the website so I decided to concentrate all of my efforts here. My goals are to connect with other bloggers, explore writing opportunites, increase my writing skills and have a place to talk about things that I’m passionate about!

What inspires you to write, especially when you have writer’s block?

So this is a great question. If I have writer’s block I just work on someting else! In the writing world, I’m known as a “Pantser” because I  write by the seat of my pants. Which pretty much means I prefer bouncing around tumblr_inline_mfaeuomaL11r7k9y5  . If I have writer’s block on 1 section, I always refer to my journal of topics and pick something else to write about. Anytime you have an idea, write it down and who knows, later you may be able to use it. I just love talking, so writing helps me talk about all the crazy ideas that I have!

Give a random fact about yourself! 😀

A random fact about myself? Hmmm… I feel like I’ve shared most of my interesting facts lol. So I have this weird obsession (mild) with cats. Also the reason that I call myself Luna lol from Sailor Moon! I loveee cats, too much that I reference alot of things in cat terms. giphy I also Meow alot in real life lol. Yup, cats! Ta’s my interesting fact lol.

Wheew! That was painless, although now you may all think that I’m a crazy cat lady lol. On to my Nominees!

Players:

My 3 questions are:

  1. What are your favortie topics to blog about?
  2. Name a guilty pleasure of yours?
  3. If you were a Billionaire, what was your claim to fame?

This is an open challenge to anyone who I didn’t mention and would like to participate! Once again, thank you to Holly and enjoy your Wednesday!

-Luna 🙂

Happy Friday Gamers, Geeks and Friends! We have been nomintaed for the Mystery Blogger Award by Moonid! Thank you Moonid for the nomination! Be sure to check out their blog for Manga and Anime content! Shout out to the creator of the award over at Okoto’s Enigma Blog as well! I love doing the blog award posts because you can find out interesting information about fellow bloggers and potentially find new bloggers to follow! It’s definitely worth writing about especially if you do not have a post scheduled (hehehe like me today 🙂 ). Let’s jump into the post details!  party

  1. Display the award logo on your blog.
  2. List the Rules.
  3. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  4. Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well.

3 Things About Myself:

  • In my daily life I work for a major theme park in Orlando, Fl. It’s a fantastic job and I am always happy to go off to work! I sit at a computer and answer questions via social media and the website about our parks.
  • If you haven’t figured it out from my other blog posts my 3 favorite passions are Video Games, WWE and Binge Watching TV Shows! These are the types of posts that you will often see on my blog.
  • I like to try out new activities. I get into moods where if I want to do something, I’ll research it and try it out (perks of living in a large city). Some activities I want to accomplish this year are Pottery lessons,  Traveling, Paintball, Escape Rooms and for some reason I want to traverse a giant corn maze!

Nominator’s Questions:

  1. Which anime/manga genre is the one you like the most? I really love the Romantic Comedy Anime like School Rumble. Harem anime like Ouran School Host Club or Shuffle are great as well!
  2. If you were to introduce a friend to your favorite genre, what would be your best recommendation to help him get hooked into the genre? Hahaha I think I have answered this above. I really, really like School Rumble. That would be my go to.
  3. Can you relate something that happened in your life with something you watched in an anime/read in a manga? Absolutely! This is going to sound weird but in the anime “The Devil is a Part Timer” the main character, Sadao and his ambitions remind me of myself at work. I’m always looking for the promotion and to make sure that I’m doing the best that I can lol. This Anime is pretty funny as Sadao thinks the key to conquering the world lies in taking over “McRonalds!”
  4. What is your favorite Youtube Channel? Currently I would say my favorite YouTube Channel is Up Up Down Down the channel by WWE Superstar Xavier Woods. I also love a good Minecraft channel like Lachlan or Vikkstar123.
  5. Write something about the culture in your country. I live in the United States of America so the culture here is pretty diverse. Many people would say that we have no culture but I disagree. We celebrate holidays like our Independence day and President’s Day. It may not include special preparations or rituals but its important to us. What I love the most is that we can have different festivals like the color run or Caribbean Festival that celebrates the diversity in the Country.

  mlp My Nominees:

  3. MediGamer Matt
  4. Retro Gamer Ireland
  5. Intentergy
  6. Darth Toothpick

My Questions:

  • Which Movie are you looking forward to releasing this year?

  • With the rise of Major League Gaming, should it have its place among ESPN?
  • Should Colleges start Major League Gaming teams and fund-raise similar to Sports?
  • Streaming vs. Blogging: How do you connect with your favorite gamers and communities?

Thank you again Moonid for the nomination! Congrats to all of my nominees and I look forward to your answers if you choose to participate! Have a great weekend!
