Throwback Tuesday: Old School Cartoons

Happy Tuesday All! Thank you for reading today’s Throwback post! This week I am highlighting some old school cartoons from my childhood. I grew up in the 90’s with awesome cartoons (you know back when cartoons were better in my opinion) that provided fun, morals and a way to escape our hard lives of school and …. well pretty much just school right? This post is to pay tribute to some of my favorite and forgotten Cartoons!

Notable Mentions that will not be covered in depth because let’s be honest, we probably already think of these shows anyway! I have included a poll where you can vote for the cartoons that automatically popped into your head when you read the title of this post!

Now on to the 6 Cartoons that I have decided to feature on this journey to the past! Let’s start with one of my personal favorites. Keep in mind that this list is generalized and doesn’t have a ranking over the Notable Mentions or Cartoons not featured!

Darkwing Duck:  darkwing   Darkwing Duck was the story following everyday man Drake Mallard, his niece Gosalyn and side kick Launch Pad. Drake Mallard has a secret, he is the crime fighter DarkWing Duck along with his side kick (who is also Launch Pad from Ducktales) who goes out to stop the villains in St. Canard. This series used to come on after school when I was a girl and featured characters from Ducktales like Gizmo Duck! Apparently Darkwing Duck was the first Disney action cartoon soooo congrats Darkwing Duck, “Let’s Get Dangerous!”  dw

Rocket Power:  rocket power Rocket Power was the  cartoon that followed Reggie Rocket, her brother Otto and their friends Twister and Sam through their active lifestyle of sports and competitions in Ocean Shores California. Rocket power really made me want to surf and play sports growing up ( I blame this show for playing Tennis and Softball in the same season lol). Their Father Raymundo owned a little tiki shack restaurant with his best friend down by the beach. The kids would hang out there, grab food and then catch waves at the beach located in front of the shack. My favorite episode was when Reggie (the girl) was being overlooked for a surfing competition because she is a girl. She surfed with a mask on and **SPOILER ALERT** when she WON even her brother Otto had to give her madddd props! It was one of my first introductions to a tomboy (like me 🙂 ) being respected in a cartoon!

Arthur:  Arthur  “And I say Hey! What a wonderful kind of day, where we can learn to work and play and get along with each other…”Arthur was a show on PBS that followed the aardvark Arthur and his family. I oved watching shows on PBS as a kid. Arthur came across many different scenarios in 3rd grade that he had to get through with his friends or family. I read the Arthur books as a kid so when the show was airing I was front and center in front of the TV. My favorite characters are DW (Arthur’s little sister) and Francine (The Tomboy… go figure lol). Til this day if I need a relaxing show to watch, Arthur is what I have on my Netflix queue lol.

Courage the Cowardly Dog:  courage Courage the Cowardly dog was awesome as it shows the weird things that happened in Courage’s small town. Courgae lived with Muriel a sweet elder woman and her husband Eustis who really didn’t like Courage and tried to get rid of him at every pass. This show was the more paranormal side of the cartoon shows (like Invader Zim!) but it was funny and awesome! I wish I had a dog like Courage around!

Pirates of Dark Water:   pirates   Pirates of Dark Water followed the Prince Ren and his companions as they combat the oil like substance know as Dark Water. Dark Water swallows up ships and people, the only way to stop it is to purify the water. Ren and friends search for the Treasures of Rule to assist in purifying the water and saving their Planet of Mer. The Monkey Bird thing Nibbler was my favorite, well him and Tula the Sorceress. Of course every action/adventure cartoon needs a villain and that villan was Bloth! He was evil and looking to rule by stealing the Treasures for his own nefarious acts. Many people may not remember this show but I remember it quite vividly, down to the fruits that Niddler ate!

Aah Real Monsters:   suit_by_garvals  Aaaah Real Monsters was a great show about little monsters (Ickis, Oblina and Krumm) in training to become full fledged monsters! The trio goes through classes and at night, take their antics out for a test run. The Headmaster Gromble, wants to make sure that all monsters are properly certified in the art of frightening humans. Each episode an assignment is given and the 3 students try and complete their assignments. Each monster has their own special abilities and struggles. It’s another great take on problems that anyone can face… Even Monsters!

Captain Planet:   captain-planet   Before School each morning Captain Planet would play. Captain Planet was the show that taught us to recycle and not pollute with the help of the Planet Teers. The Planet teers were teens from different walks of life who were gifted with rings of all of the Earth’s elements: Earth, Fire, Wind Water and Heart! These gifts were bestowed by Gaia who was essentially Mother Earth lol. When the Planet -Teers combined their powers, Captain Planet was summoned!  … I still remember the theme song (We’re the Planet-teers, you can be one too, cause saving our planet is the thing to do! Looting and Polluting is not the way, hear what Captain Planet has to sayThe Power is Yours!) no judgement please :D.

These are some of the cartoons that I felt should have the spotlight shown on them, however, there are soooo many that we can mention like: Ducktales, TaleSpin,  Why Why Family, Looney Tunes, Tiny Toons, Bonkers, Gargoyles,  Animaniacs, Tom and Jerry Kids,  X-Men, Freakazoid, Sonic, Rocko’s Mordern Life,  Beetlejuice, Cow and Chicken, Angry Beavers, Johnny Bravo and Bobby’s World!

Btw most of these shows can still be found on channels like boomerang and some are even on Netflix! So which one’s did I miss? I know there are so many cartoons from our childhood that I may have missed so share your thoughts! Let’s talk Cartoon! Have a great day and thanks for reading!

Gamer’s Hard Drive! (Gaming Log Post)

Happy Monday Gamers, Geeks and Friends! Today in lieu of the Hidden Treasures post I will be starting a segment that pretty much analyzes the video games that I have been playing in the past week and my current progress. I’m happy that I have been able to start playing my games regularly. This is a way to keep track of my progress and set new gaming goals each week. Welp, let’s get to it!

Halo Wars 2 :

imageedit_8_9807618264
The Boss Teleported in as we were destroying the base lol

My progress with Halo Wars 2 went really well last week as I have finally finished the Co-Op campaign with my friend (because of our varying schedules this was a challenge). So far we have completed the campaign and played a few skirmishes. I have yet to play online or play the new game mode “Blitz” but I will be focusing on those 2 modes in the coming weeks!

  • Campaign completed
  • Achievements unlocked

Thief: I know Thief isn’t everyone’s (or anyone for that matter) favorite game, but I quite enjoy it. I purchased the game with Halo Wars 2 and have finally opened it and popped it into my disk tray. Previously on 360 I’ve played maybe half way through the game (before getting scared off from a creature looking like Gollum!!!! I thought this was a stealth game not Lord of the Rings!!!).  Because I chickened out, I never completed the game. Now I will attempt to redeem myself and complete the game

  • Completed the first 2 missions

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare:

Infinite
I’m Lunar Godd3ss 21-11. We may have won if I joined at the start of the game lol

I know I have talked soooo much stuff in the club about Infinite Warfare being the 1st Call of  Duty game that I did not pick up at the midnight launch. I had no interest in this Call of Duty game at all, but from a mix up at RedBox I was gifted 2 free game rentals. Guess which game was available? My curiosity was peaked and I grabbed Infinite Warfare. I’m not sure if it is because I haven’t played a FPS (because Gears of War 4 doesn’t count) in a while that my biases were subsided, but I actually enjoyed the game. I was playing, boosting, shooting people online (going like 21-11 on my first few games) and I missed the COD franchise. Will I buy the game, meh, maybe not, but it was more fun than I anticipated.

  • Advanced to level 7 rank in multiplayer

WWE Topps Slam Trading Card Game:  com.topps.slam   Recently as in the last month I have upgraded my SD card in my phone so I have been on a mobile game download FRENZY!!!! If you recall my WWE Slam Crate Unboxing post (click here to read it) you remember that I have received 3 WWE Topps Cards. It also gave me free packs to open in the app so of course, i downloaded it. I didn’t realize how fun it would be to play a card game and collect sets. In this game after a week I have collected over 1000 cards. Feel free to add me if you play: Luna26x.

  • Successfully traded for Special Edition Seth Rollins Cards (Yes Drew, you know I had to lol). seth
  • Collected all of the St. Patrick’s Day Special Edition Cards (Becky Lynch, Sheamus and Finn Balor)
  • Completed the White Base Set and collected my reward (185 cards sheesh)

Cooking Fever Mobile Game:     cooking  Again, I have sooo much space on my phone now. Cooking Fever is a game where you have to serve customers in a timely manner to collect enough stars to proceed to the next round. Each round gets harder. You start with burgers, then move to burgers and hot dogs, then add toppings.. It gets pretty crazy. There are multiple levels and shops as well.

  • Completed all levels of the Burger Shop with 3 stars
  • Unlocked the Bakery and currently working on completing all levels

Free Cell:    free cell  This is just a way to quickly pass time. No real update or stats are kept in this game. It’s like revers solitaire. All of the cards are displayed and you move cards to try and put the cards in order from Ace to King. You have 2 “Free” sections to work with, one you can place ANY card there to move it out of the way. The second area ONLY accepts the cards in order (Ace through King in that specific suit).

4 Pics 1 Word-  4 pics  I just like puzzles so I’ve downloaded this game that shows 4 different pictures and you have to guess the common word. It’s fun and pretty easy right now.

  • Completed all 25 levels in 5 different groups

That’s all for the games that I have been playing last week! Which games are you currently playing? Have you played any of the games I’ve listed and if so, where’s your progress at? Do you keep a gaming journal? Let’s talk our Gamer Hard Drives! Have a fantastic day and thank you for reading!

Beauty and the Beast 2017 Review!

Happy Sunday friends! I was very exciting when my boyfriend called me and said that we have tickets for Beauty and the Beast opening weekend! A piece of information about me is that I loveeee Beauty and the Beast! Belle is above all others my favorite Disney Princess as I felt that she related to me as a kid. When I heard there was a movie being made, a few things crossed my mind. Firstly was who would play Belle, would the movie stay true to the original, how will the Beast look? All of these questions will be answered in the movie review so let’s get to it! bab1

Story: The setting of course is a little village in France where Belle and her father Maurice live. Belle is a girl wanting to read and escape the boring life that has sought after her for years. The Beast is a Prince who is cursed by an Enchantress for having a cold heart, the only way to break the curse is to fall in love and have someone love him.  To start off the movie, Disney stayed true to the starting of the animation. Belle (Played by Emma Watson) walks through the village to return a book and pick up items from town. Emma is a beautiful singer and the song is EXACTLY the one from the animation! As the opening scenes continue you notice that the townspeople regard Belle as a beautiful, but peculiar girl (as they call her odd, strange and funny while she walks by). You’re immediately introduce to some central characters like her father Maurice and the boastful Gaston, who tries to win her hand in marriage. The opening also bring sin a little of the backstory for the Beast!  bab2

As the story progresses you are reliving your childhood watching how Belle and Beast meets. How the characters in the house like Lumiere and Mrs. Potts interact with Belle and how Gaston tries at every point to make Belle his! Will Belle stop the curse and free the Beast and his servants from their dreadful demise? What I particularly loved was that the movie stayed true to the original animation version and songs , however, it still managed to add in more background information about Belle’s mom and the Beast’s past to make the movie really well rounded!

The Ambience: This movie did an absolutely amazing job with the scenes and feel of the movie. The symphony playing in the background was incredible. Original and new songs were given the right amount emphasis.   For instance, the iconic “Be Our Guest” song performed by  be-our-guest  Lumiere and all of the other servants was really well executed. The song was exactly the same, however, the performance of the song was a little slower than the original version. The version of this song used made me smile from ear to ear as the colors brought out the amazing feeling that Belle had to have felt. Each scene was shot in great lighting and the colors all blended harmoniously with the scene at hand. Listen I was smiling throughout the whole movie. Nostalgia hit me in the gut on this one.

The Characters: In my opinion Disney did a great job in portraying the characters. The actors and actresses really took on their roles and brought you into the story. The Beast (Dan Stevens) was portrayed really well and the costuming wasn’t outrageous. My only critique is while Gaston (Played By Luke Evans ) was pretty good, the appearance of Gaston wasn’t as bulky as I had imagined. Also, Gaston was a simpleton yes, but he wasn’t really villainous until about halfway through the movie. I also think that Belle’s father Maurice didn’t appear as helpless as he did in the animation (Boyfriend and I disagree on this point of view). I was also quite impressed with the amount of diversity in this film. Yes, there were different ethnicities represented that were clearly absent from the animation and it shows a progressive (and more realistic) movie. One of my favorite characters which may be a surprise, was Gaston’s buddy and right hand man Lefou (Josh Gad) lefou . This character was portrayed a little differently from the animation however, he was amazing. He provided the comic relief and the conscious for Gaston.

Check out the trailer here!

All in all I HIGHLY recommend watching Beauty and the Beast! I know I am very bias in that this is my favorite movie as a kid, however, I think that bias also made me critical of what could happen. My expectations were through the moon on this movie and in my opinion it was executed perfectly. There were a few things I scratched my head on like when Belle entered the village at the beginning of the movie she grabbed a loaf of bread, but when she left the bread was gone lol. That’s just a minor thing and Boyfriend didn’t even notice lol. I will tell you that this movie does pull at the heart strings and I wasn’t the only one crying at certain parts.

Play:

  • To watch a FANTASTIC reboot of the original Disney animation
  • To see Emma Watson Shine as Belle and bring the character (convincingly) to life
  • The antics of Lefou were amazing and the comedy added in really suit the film
  • Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, Chip, Beast and all other servants at the Castle
  • Smiling all the way through with new and original songs

Skip:

  • If you don’t like Beauty and the Beast (The only reason to skip really)
  • If you don’t like singing throughout the movie (Although it wasn’t overly done)
  • If you don’t want to cry (I’m just saying, even some guys were choked up)

Thank you for reading my EXTREMELY bias review of the new Beauty and the Beast Movie lol. I will end here by saying I wasn’t the only one impressed, at the end of the movie the entire theater stood up and clapped (as we dried our tears). Are you planning to watch the movie? Have you seen it already? Let’s talk Beauty and the Beast! Have a fantastic week!

Netflix Series of the Week: Magi, Adventures of Sinbad!

Happy Friday Gamers, Geeks and Friends! I’ve finally gotten around to watching Magi: Adventures of Sinbad and will be able to share my thoughts on the series! Each week I will recommend a series that I binge watch on Netflix for you to analyze if you would like to watch or not.

The Plot: This Anime adaptation of the Adventures of Sinbad follows the our boy Sinbad who has the excellent navigational skills of an experienced sailor. The twist is that Sinbad is able to navigate and find the correct path for more than just the sea, he is able to find the correct path in any challenge that is thrown upon him. The story starts when Sinbad is 3, focusing on his father who is a war hero for the country. Right now, Japan is at war and all able bodied males are drafted into said war in the efforts of conquering a dungeon. The person who can successfully conquer the dungeon will obtain a great power. From a young age, Sinbad has had the instincts to find the right path and his father recognized that quality in his son instantly when the were rowing in the middle of a storm. Sinbad guided them to safety.

Fast forward years later, Sinbad is now a young man who helps out his villagers and travelers in need. The country is still at war and the generals of the army approach Sinbad’s town forcing him to obey the orders of the draft or else! After encouraging words from a strange traveler, Sinbad devises a plan to conquer that dungeon and take the power for himself, in order to bestow peace throughout the land. Sinbad journeys to different lands tackling different dungeons and befriending all types of characters. The question is, will Sinbad bring peace and overthrow the empire that set his home to war?

Adventure_of_Sinbad_manga

The Characters: Overall the character development in the series is really good and the story is fun to follow. You can see the leadership qualities in Sinbad’s every action and when certain situations occur, you can agree with the choices made (being vague as not to spoil the series lol).

Play:

  • Anime Action and an interesting take on the Sinbad Story
  • If you enjoy Magi Anime’s this one is right for you

Skip:

  • If you a like a story that develops quickly

I’ve attempted to find an English dubbed trailer but I couldn’t so I apologize for not having one. There is a trailer on Netflix that you can watch for the show.

Thank you for reading this week’s Netflix Series of the Week! Have you watched the Adventure of Sinbad Anime? Have you seen any other Magi Animes? Which shows are you currently binge watching and do you have a recommendation on our next Netflix (or Hulu… we’re expanding) series of the week> Let’s talk binge shows! Have a fantastic weekend!

Ultimate TKO Thursday: Absorbtion Assailants (Rogue Vs Android 18).

Happy Thursday Gamers, Geeks and Friends! Thank you for tuning in to this week’s Thursday TKO battle will be between Rogue from X-Men and Android 18 from Dragonball Z. Every Thursday we pit 2 characters from different games, movies, etc against each other to find out who would be the ultimate winner!  Check out last time’s TKO battle between Scorpion and Master Shredder here! Without further adieu, let’s get into Rogue Versus Android 18!

Rogue is investigating the disappearance of her mutant students from Xavier’s School For Special School. 3 Of them have gone missing in the last week, no trace, no note, no nothing. Rogue recalls overhearing Amy, one of her students talking about an amusement park that caters to mutants. “Sounds like a good place to start.” Rogue says. She tracks down the address of this new park and with a confused look she says “The Bermuda Triangle.”  rogue

Rogue arrives to the Bermuda Triangle location and spots an island in the distance. She can smell popcorn, cotton candy and hot dogs on the horizon, “I must be close.” She says. Finally Rogue can see the outline of a roller coaster and ferris wheel in the distance. She flies over and lands at the gates of the park.”Cellebration Park, huh?” She walks in. The park looks operational as the lights and music are all playing. The ground is littered with trash from the concession stands. No one is around so Rogue does the only logical action, she starts calling out the names of her former students “No Answer.” Rogue walks past the turnstiles and into the first attraction that she can see, a fun house. Before she can get too far, she she’s an image in one of the mirrors, it’s girl. “Hey have you seen…” Before she could finish a pink ball of energy comes crashing through the mirrors and blows Rogue out of the fun house.

android 18 1

Rogue peers up over the girl floating over her. Her hair is golden like the sun and her skin is kissed by the milk of cows, she has blue eyes and she’s wearing a weird type of clothing. her pants are black and she has a white long sleeved shirt underneath a black vest. “Who are you?” Rogue asks as she stands to wipe the debris from her brow. “You can call me 18 and you can call me master.” The woman says as she lets out a maniacal laugh. A smirk of confidence flashes across Android 18’s face. Rogue lunges at the assailant throwing punches her way. “What have you done with my students?” Rogue yells and punches 18 in the stomach. 18 Pushes off of Rogue and catches her breath. “I see you’re not going to be an easy opponent, but when I absorb your powers, I will be unstoppable.” 18 says. She blasts another ball of energy at Rogue who dodges. Rogue grabs the right arm of 18 and can feel some of 18’s energy transfer over to her. “What are you doing? Get off of me!” 18 yells and kicks the leg of Rogue. “What’s wrong? Think you’re the only one that can siphon energy?” Rogue says.

Android 18 grabs Rogue’s hand and turns to blast her. Rogue flies back into a cart of candy apples. She gets  up and punches 18 in the face. The next thing she sees is a horror in itself. Android 18’s face has morphed and now she has 2 green things appears on top of her head. “What the heck are you?” Rogue screams. “There’s no need in hiding this now” 18’s voice got deeper.  cell2 Rogue can see the change in 18’s body to reveal the true culprit. “They call me Cell.” He says and flies in close to hit Rogue in the face. Cell grabs Rogue and tosses her into the bumper cars. “Hahaha, I thought you would be worth my time.” Cell says.   cell He hits Rogue with a blast of energy that sends her into a cart of games. Rogue is bruised and battered and now she knows what has happened to her students. “Rogue get up, get up!” a familiar voice says. Rogue is barely able to turn and see her student Amy trapped in a cage of wires. “Amy, what has happened to you?” Rogue says. “We were taken and now our abilities are being drained from us.” Amy replies. Rogue can see that Amy looks bad as if she had been torn apart. “I’ll get you out of here” Rogue says. She tries to stand but is unable to make it to her feet. “You’re too late.” Amy says with tears rolling down here face. Amy falls over but before the end she touches Rogue’s hand. “I’d rather it be you…” are the final words Rogue hears from Amy.

Cell is floating in the air laughing. “This world of theirs is nothing compared to what I have endured.” Cell says. Rogue blasts Cell out of the sky with a ball of energy. “You monster!” she screams. The enraged Rogue battles Cell, punching him, kicking him and blasting him to the ground . Renders Cell immobile thanks to her student Amy’s powers. “This is for my students and all of the mutants that you have hurt!” Rogue yells. She blasts Cell one last time and watches as his body explodes. “This is for Amy.” Rogue says and she falls to the floor crying. imageedit_1_5678568027

Dark Blood (Book): First Impressions

Happy Wednesday! I have been reading the book Dark Blood and I’m about half way done. I’ve decided to do a quick first impressions post on what I have read so far and what I expect towards the end of the book.

Dark Blood is book #26 out of a series of 31books in the “Dark” series written by Christine Feehan. This book follows the story of the hunter Zev who is a hunter and Lycan. Zev finds himself in a strange place with a beautiful woman within reach of him. Not knowing what has happened or how he came to be in this place, Zev knows that he is injured and dying. What is going on? Who is this mysterious woman? And why has the “Ancients” spoke to Zev in a language he couldn’t understand before. Why did they refer to his bloodline as “Dark Blood?”

db1

Currently I’m about a quarter of the way through the book and  I love it so far. I wanted to start reading a fantasy book to gain a better understanding of the fantasy world. Currently I am writing a fantasy story myself so the more I read, the better I am able to write my story. At least that’s what I’ve read lol. So far the scene has been set, the characters (at least the protagonists) have been established, the conflict has been revealed (although I feel as though there’s more on the way) and the glimpse of romance, intrigue and magic has been hinted at. I’m really enjoying the story so far and every chance I get, I continue reading.

I expect to uncover more answers about what the main conflict of the book is. Currently, the characters have awaken Zev because they believe he is the only answer to stopping a full out war between the Lycans and Carpathians. Zev is badly injured and on the brink of releasing his inner wolf, someone needs to provide him with answers or there will be heck to pay! I expect to find out what happened to Zev’s family and what the true meaning of the term “Dark Blood” is. It has been mentioned twice so far, once by the ancients and once by Zev questioning his allies. Both times Zev has walked away with more questions then answers and a room full of people staring at him. I’m expecting there to be a huge battle, even though Zev is supposed to bring peace. I am expecting to find out more about the healing and magical abilities of members of his brotherhood.

db2

So far I am really enjoying this book and can’t wait to finish it. I think I will write one more impression post when I’m farther along and culminate this series with the final book review. Thank you for reading my first impressions, have a great Wednesday!

Throwback Tuesday: Fable Series (Video Game)

Hiya Gamers and Friends! Today’s Throwback Tuesday post will feature one of my favorite gaming franchises; Fable! Fable is a Role Playing game series exclusive to Xbox that allows players to choose their own actions and missions as the game progresses. This game was pretty revolutionary as it allowed for a player to make decisions that would adjust the characters look, Notoriety with the townspeople and personality traits. Let’s get into some of my favorite moments and features of the Fable franchise.

Fable- The first release of Fable was in 2004 on the original Xbox.  This story centered on a young hero (whom you could name) who grows up and attempts to save your sister in the fictional land of Albion.  In this original version of Fable I loved that you were able to perform actions such as pick pocketing or stealing that was only noticed if you are caught by a store owner. Funny story, I was introduced to Fable by my brother who never got around to playing. I lovedddd this game and played it all of the time on his Xbox (until I bought my own J ). This was my first experience with a game in where the player’s choices influenced the look of the character. The better choices you made the nicer and more “Angelic” your character looked. The not so great choices you made had your character inheriting scars, a rough demeanor and eventually horns (I never went that far lol)    bad deed.png .  The game also allowed the character to mix combat skills, weapon skills and the integration of magic into your battle style. I loved fighting bandits with my sword and then quickly turning to shock an attacker with the lightning ability.

Fable 2 – Fable 2 is my personal favorite of all of the Fable Series Games and was released on the Xbox 360 Console in October of 2008. Fable 2 starts off similar to the original allowing you to create a hero and journey throughout the land of Albion. The character development of this game surpassed that of the original Fable. What impressed me about Fable 2 the most was that you were now able to create a male or female hero.  This story takes place about 500 years after the events of the 1st game. This title takes the great elements of its predecessor and creates an even more interactive experience for the players. You are able to acquire gold by getting jobs in town such as being a blacksmith or making pies. Fable II Jobs  You are also able to now trade items and play co-op missions with your friends via Xbox Live in Fable 2. I remember my friends and I meeting in the courtyard of “Old Albion” and trading money to each other. You are able to explore the themes of Marriage, Home Owner Ship and the life of a merchant.  The combat skills were updated in this game as well, allowing you to obtain different magical abilities from the ones introduced in Fable.

Fable III- Fable 3 is the last title I will feature in today’s post as it was the last Fable title that I have played.  Fable III starts 50 years after the events of Fable II and in this game the hero will become royalty. You are tasked with taking down the horrible King (Your Older Brother) that subject his people to very severe punishments.  Fable III was released in October 2010. One thing that I loved about Fable III was that you were able to combine magic spells with your Spell Gauntlets. This means that you can mix the ice spell with fire to create a whole new element.  fable3_0942 What made this game different than the other 2 was that you realize the decisions made as a ruler will have a negative effect either immediately with having to execute a prisoner or over time when a dark evil approaches. Your choices are to spare 1 life or potentially save hundreds.  Basically you are choosing the best option which may not be a great choice at all. This game really makes the gamer make decisions that are not necessarily good versus evil; your decisions are which is a lesser evil. I think because this game puts you in a predicament where you hate either choice, I wasn’t able to finish the game.  Eventually I will go back and complete it but even now thinking about some of the things I did makes me cringe.

I haven’t played the newest version of Fable, however, I have purchased Fable II again to play through. I really enjoyed this series and I definitely recommend it to any gamer who enjoys the action RPG type games (it tells a great story and forces you to make decisions). I definitely recommend this game to gamers who enjoy the Sims as well. Although the customization features are not as vast as in the Sims, you are able to dye and buy additional clothing, start a family or business, oh and terrorize the villagers in Albion! Hidden Treasures 7: UnREAL

Happy Monday Gamers, Geeks and Friends! Thank you for reading this week’s Hidden Treasures post where I try to shine the spotlight on a video game, tv show or item that I feel is being “Overlooked.” This week I came across a great TV series on Hulu (which only happened because I fell asleep watching Family Guy and awoke to this show lol). Upon waking up (on Season 2) I went back to Season 1 and binge watched the entire 1st season. This series is AMAZING and I’m very surprised that I have never heard of it. Let’s get into the series! Oh yeah, check out the past Hidden Treasures Series by clicking here!

Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of your favorite reality show? The creators of the TV Show UnReaL aim to answer these questions, in the most dramatic way possible! UnReaL is a dramatic television show that premiered on Lifetime, following the behind the scenes actions of the crew and contestants on a popular dating show. Yes, they pretty much made a drama about what could happen behind the scenes of a show like “The Bachelor.” Stick with me though this show is really good! You follow the main character Rachel who battles between her conscious and what’s best for ratings. Rachel has her own demons to battle with that the viewer becomes aware of from episode 1. Rachel is a producer who upon returning to the set of the multi-billion dollar production of “Everlasting” has to continue taking orders from her boss

quinn
Quinn, Executive Producer

Quinn to make each episode even more “Dramatic” then the last.

Characters:

Something that I love about this show is the development of each character. You have the producers Jay, Shiya and Rachel, The Bosses Quinn and Chet, The Suitor , The Crew and The contestants who all represent typical personalities that you would expect to see on a dating show. Moreover I just love how the show is believable and not too much over the edge. Adam Cromwell is the British Suitor that is the center of the affections of the cast. He plays the part of millionaire bachelor very well.

Rachel is also working with other producers, unreal3  Jay and Shiya, who all pretty much bring in their own “Girls” to make the show. If their girl stays on a week they get a bonus, if their girls fight or have an amazing moment, bonus! See the trend? Quinn, the boss and Executive Producer makes sure to incentivize her team and keep the Everlasting Empire on top of the charts, even if they tend to go a little too far! UnREAL shows what happens when everyone’s secrets are exploited and exposed.

Quotes:

“Come on, come on, come on, I need sad faces OK! Your puppy died, your implants got infected, I don’t care just use it!” – Quinn

“You focus on your future husband OK, I’ll take care of it!” – Rachel

“We have a saying around here, sluts get cut.” – Chet

“That girl hates me. I made her s*** her pants on national television.” – Rachel

This series is fantastic! It has drama, romance and a little suspense from viewing how far the producers will go to make a great episode. The scary thing about this series is that it’s very believable. We as viewers don’t  unreal2  know what happens off air and how the editing is put together for packages displayed on reality tv. We know that things are scripted, yes, but due to confidentiality agreements and other miles of paperwork signed by the contestants, there can be a lot of things that we really don’t know behind the scenes. UnReal tackles the issues and how each producer could cover up or manipulate a scenario.

Play:

  • Highly entertaining
  • Extremely believable actions as not to go over the top

Skip:

  • Adult themes and language
  • No interest in reality shows or drama

I definitely will be watching season 2 as a new suitor and cast of contestants will be featured. In my opinion the acting and story is pretty good for this show (but I love reality shows in general) and Lifetime definitely did a great job! Check out the trailer for season 1 here!

Let me know what you think! What other shows have you found that are currently “Overlooked?” Let’s talk Hidden Treasures! Have a great week!
