Hand of Fate 2: All you want to know (Preview by Gamers Nation)

Power up Players! Today’s post will be a guest post from our friends over at Gamers-Nation! Make sure to take a look at their blog via the links below if you like the content! Enjoy!

-Luna 🙂

Hand of Fate 2 is a sequel to one of the most interesting and original games released recently. The focus here is simple, you are playing against the dealer and you need to win the best way you can. Just like in the previous game, you are exploring a dark fantasy world that’s created from a collectible cards set. The world is randomly generated and you can explore it based on your own choices.

Gameplay

The best thing about Hand of Fate 2 is that each card brings you a new trial. You can stick to the tabletop RPG experience, you can enter the combat regions as a third person experience or you can enjoy some mini-games as you try to figure out what’s more important and fun for you. hof2 -3

The focus is on creating a powerful deck and eliminating your opponents. But the dealer also has quite a lot of stuff up his sleeve, so it’s up to you to deal with the situation and battle the experience the best way you can. hof 2-1

As you can see, Hand of Fate 2 is rather similar to the original, but it does have its own cool new stuff too. For example, there’s a new map based meta game. This comes with its own range of delightful and fun challenges for you to explore. It’s interesting, distinct and among some of the nicest things that you can enjoy out there.

What’s New

Moreover, the game has expanded its unique set of combat styles, with two handed heavy arms and dual wielding being a nice experience at this particular time. You also have the ability to battle some new foes and there are quite a lot of new card suits too. From the imperial forces or the blight, there’s a lot of stuff for you to unlock, explore and battle as you see fit. That’s what makes Hand of Fate 2 shine, the fact that you get more of the same stuff, but also improved and seamlessly integrated into a new experience. hof 2-2

You can also team up with companions and they offer a lot of support if needed. There are some mini game perks too and these can help influence the game experience quite a lot. This offers a tremendous set of results and the outcome is by far one of the best out there.

As a whole, Hand of Fate 2 is a very interesting game and one that you will like quite a lot due to the way it plays and works. It’s fun, more detailed and it manages to offer that sense of great gaming experience that you always wanted. You should consider giving it a try if you love card games or action games, because it has the perfect blend between these two genres. Just consider giving it a shot if you love this sort of games, and you will see just how impressive and astonishing the game can be for you. Hand of Fate 2 launches 7 Nov, 2017.

October Update!

I have not posted, AT ALL this month…I am so ashamed. Let me cut right to the chase and explain why I have been so MIA these past few weeks…

  • Work: As some of you know, Luna and I work at the same place and recently some changes were made and out Internet usage has been limited.. Trust me folks, we cry everyday about this. The boredom is REAL.
  • Relationship: My boyfriend, the magic ki7aoMechanic, has recently been promoted to Manager/Mechanic and has been given the challenge of running a new shop for the next 30 days! Woohoo!! Exciting changes are on the horizon for us but it is kind of stressful for him so I am trying to be crazy free for the next 30 days…Now some of you are like, “Wait, wait, wait, did she just say crazy free”?  Why yes, yes I did. Ladies and gentleman, I am a crazy but loving girlfriend which means I am constantly hangry and wanting chicken nuggets. IS-THAT-A-CHICKEN-NUGGETWith my boyfriend’s 30 day challenge ahead, I want to make sure that there are no distractions at home that would cause any stress to him! It’s already been three days and I’ve only had 1 meltdown…that’s a new personal record.
  • Mentally: If you have ever watched  an episode of Scrubs and seen JD zone out and let his mind have one of those moments, that’s basically me. I am the girl version of JD. I always have 34646412175 random thoughts going through my mind and it’s hard for me to settle down and write. I also have these depression spells where I basically refuse to do anything or see anyone because I can’t get myself to walk out of my house.
  • Writing Rut: We’ve all been through the rut. You know the drill. Any time you try to write out your thoughts it ends up becoming empty scribbleswritersblock

I am starting to feel like myself again so hopefully I will have some posts coming out soon! It’s kind of weird for me to write about my life, how I feel, and what I am going through but I think it will make myself and my writing stronger. I will also have some of my Poetry and Creative Writing for you to read in the next few days as well!

It is still the month of October which means HALLOWEEN is upon us! MUAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.marge.

I have a mini pumpkin that needs to be decorated for our Mini Pumpkin Contest at work and I still have to find and make an appropriate costume for work. I have a few ideas and I wish I could share them with you but I don’t want Luna to know as we are very competitive when it comes to work contests!

So far, I have watched random episodes of the Walking Dead, the Addams Family, the Addams Family Values, Jason goes to Hell, Michael Myers, Twilight, Hocus Pocus, the Nightmare Before Christmas, Chucky, Ghost Adventures, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and a few others that have played randomly at work.  I think I have a good mix of Zombies, Vampires, Monsters, crazed Dolls, and Witches so far going on for this month for me!

With only a few days of October left, I can only feel Thanksgiving and Christmas just blurring by right before us! As much as I adore Halloween and the spooky vibes that it brings, I am super excited for Christmas! My boyfriend’s family from Mexico will be coming for the first time and we already have plans galore for different activities in the area! I love to craft so I may try to make my own Disney Ornaments this year!!! craft

I have so much to plan… Until next time…

WWE Monday Night Raw 10/23/17 recap and thoughts!

Happy Tuesday Novas! I’m currently on my way to the airport to fly back home from my vacation. I feel like this has been a great month for wwe so I’ve decided to post my thoughts on last night’s RAW episode! Mild spoilers below so if uou havent watched yet, this is your official **SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT!**

Last night was the RAW after the exclusive TLC payperview. Typically th3 shows before and after the events are the best because there’s so much leading up to and after the event. This week’s episode did not disappoint as the show started with general manager Kurt Angle talking about his match and the preceding nights festivities. Kurt was interuppted by the Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro and Curtis axle which had everyone standing on their feet. Why because we knew Seth and Dean would come to interfere which is exactly what happened.

After the banter and short brawl angle made a 3 on 3 tag match with Miz, Shemaus and Cesaro versus 2/3 of the Shield and special guest AJ Styles! The match was really good and pretty well executed.

Mixing up things with AJ was a great idea. Aj, Seth and Dean won only to be demolished by Kane at the end!

Kane sets to take Brauns place by declaring that he wanted competition and who do you think came out? To slay demon Kane I can’t think of anyone better then a demon king! Finn Balor answered the challenge and put on an entertaining match. This is a great look especially since the Bray vs Finn match has been a bit stale.

It was a night of rematches where you saw Jason Jordan vs Elias Samson and a confrontation of Micki Names and Alexa Bliss. We also had a women’s triple threat match where Bayley, Sasha Banks and Alicia crazy Foxx battled for the Raw Womens Captain slot for survivor series! Surprisingly,  Foxy won and now team Raw will be team crazy and I’m excited!!! We had a special 5 on 5 Cruiserweight tag match where team Kalisto took on team Enzo. Since Enzo lost his voice, Drew Gulak did the intro and it was pretty funny. The teams were Kalisto, Mustafa Ali, Rich swann, Cedric Alexander and Grab Metalik versus Enzo, Drew Gulak, Tony Nese, Noam Dar and Ariya Davari. I’m so in love with the idea of cruiserweight getting more prime time air time and I hope the wwe universe is taking notice. These athletes are tremendous and their high flying moves are very entertaining! Also, th have a great story line at the moment.

We even had a visit from Shane McMahon ramping up for the Survivor Series event (one of my favorites) where team Raw will take on team Smackdown Live. Last year was pretty much a sweep even though the men’s match was gifted to Smackdown Live.

Riding that wave of salt, Shane interrupted Kurt when he was going to announce team Raw men superstars for survivor series. Shane can from the crowd with team Smackdown and placed Raw #undersiege! This was a fantastic move as Shane let Smackdown Superstars run rampant through the RAW locker room and jump the RAW talent (let’s n honest they have to jump them because they’d lose 1 on 1 lol).

Shots were fired and I can’t wait to see what happens on smackdown live tonight!

All in all this was a fantastic night of wrestling. Smackdown Live is sure to be excellent as well as I am anxious to see if Raw retaliate after last night’s assault. Survivor Series is shaping up to look fantastic with champions versus champions and then the traditional Survivor Series match. Who do you think will be on RAW and Smackdowns rosters? Let’s talk wwe!

Updates!

Happy Friday Players and Novas!  I hope everything is going well! Today’s post will be a short update on what’s going on with myself and the blog! It’s the Burger of The Day post, if you will lol.

Vacation: Firstly, I’m on vacation lol. I’m currently typing to your from my friends living room (because she’s still asleep) in Illinois. Now I’m a Floridian so being in Illinois when it’s pretty cold to me is crazy. But hey, I promised her that I would visit to go to Six Flags and Fright Night with her (doing that tomorrow). I’m a little skeptical because I am used to the high end Halloween Horror Nights and Howl O Scream events, but I’m sure I’ll have fun either way (If I don’t freeze to death lol).

Patreon: I know I mentioned starting a Patreon account in the Bloggers Thoughts: From Players to Professionals post last week. Well that dream is a reality now. The Patreon Page is live and you can help support the blog if you wanted by clicking here. Also, if you have any ideas for the page I’m happy to hear them!

Upgrades: Does the site look different to you? We received our first sponsored post a few days ago. With the earnings, I upgraded the blog to Premium and now we have access to better themes. It’s a work in progress but I’m upgrading the look and feel of the site (it looks wayyyy better on mobile now). How does the new theme look?

NaNoWriMo – The outline is complete for my story that I’m going to be working on during National November Writer’s Month (NaNoWriMo) and I’m debating on posting snippets of the story here during the month of November. Let me know if that would be a good idea. I’m writing the story of a journal from medievel times, following the life of a royal court and a Princess. The journal’s going to be written from different perspectives as it winds up in a few different character’s possession.

Upcoming Posts: This coming week we will have posts coming out that I have been working hard on.

Saturday 10/21/17 : WWE TLC Preview and Predictions! 20161114_TLC_Logos_rendered--39a157fbe4ce365b2bc8b62f00db7a18

Wednesday 10/25/17: Fortnite First Impressions! fortnite

Thursday 10/26/17: TBD

That’s what I have planned this week, assuming that nothing changes at the moment! Are you working on any projects? What do you have scheduled this week? Are you looking forward to any of the posts? Let’s talk!

What is Esports?

Happy Wednesday Players! This post will be a special guest post from a writer on Twitter @EthanThomasJnr regarding his thoughts on Esports! Make sure to give him a follow if you enjoy the post and would like to read more from him!

esports

Since the dawn of time, man has competed against each other for gold and glory. Today is no different with the latest and greatest test of skill, speed, strength, strategy, and tactics being professional competitive video gaming, enter Esports. Yip. You heard videogaming correctly, no longer the pastime of basement dwellers or angsty teenagers gaming is now seen as a reliable test of manhood, skill, and technique and is even regarded as a valid career choice for a skilled few.

This form of competition facilitated by an electronic system and mediated by a human-computer interface is seeing teenagers earn millions of dollars, seeing the signing of lucrative sponsorship deals, dating supermodels and racing fast cars – it is also something that they inherently enjoy doing.  Job Goals? I am still not sure? This form of organized multiplayer video game competition involves real-time strategy fighting first-person shooter (FPS ) and multiplayer online battle arena’s ( MOBA). What used to be a recreational pastime now sits on the edge of becoming recognized as a real spot with analytical data services dubbing Esports as the biggest thing to hit the tech industry since the launch of the iPhone in 2007, with the buzz around Esports only ever moving forward. Esports is not necessarily the hallmark of a conventional sport, as the competition is augmented by technology. However, the consensus is that when physical exertion and sheer power are eliminated, reflexes and mental agility come to the fore. With Esports becoming what every traditional sports league is desperate to become; young, global, digital and increasingly diverse, it’s no surprise that in our instant digital world sports can now be virtual. Tournaments such as The International, The League of Legends World Championship, and the Intel Extreme Masters all provide live broadcasts of the competition, as well as lucrative prize money to the winning competitors, bring in a crowd of about 71.5 million viewers of Esports worldwide, 85% being male and 15% being female. Majority of the viewers are between the ages of 28 and 34 and the global esports market generating US$ 493 million in revenue in 2016. You heard right. 493 million.

Top-level players are now able to compete in video games the way other athletes compete in football or tennis. So how does one become a part of this prosperous industry? Is it more than just spending hours in a darkened room illuminated only by the ambient glow of a tv screen. The answer is yes. These professional gamers spend most of their time doing exactly what conventional sports athletes do: train. A Lot. Now the training might not involve several laps or stretches, but it does require countless hours practicing, various tactics, strategies, and techniques. Taking a lot of dedication and hard work, it’s important to pick your game, practice and stay motivated. Esports, specifically CSGO, has experienced an explosion in popularity throughout the world, not only with its increase in viewership via game streaming services like Youtube and Twitch but as well as through its reality show on TBS network and a documentary on VICE called “The Celebrity Millionaires of Competitive Gaming.” With that, a new narrative was born: the Esports athlete lifestyle of the rich and nerdy. Esports players are now able to form teams, attract sponsors and compete in online tournaments all around the world. Esports has the power to make you more than a gamer, more than an athlete but a brand. There is so much that the new digital age brings us, but aside from our ability to order pizza from just about anywhere at any time of the day and our narcissistic Instagram feeds and excessive filters technology is now offering a new way to look at how we define not only sport but athletes too.

They say the meek will inherit the earth and with Esports taking over the sports industry have the athletes of yesterday lost their place in the limelight? Does our society no longer think that the physical aspects of the sport are the truest testament of skill and strength? Or is there something more? Does the 21st century hold mental agility and strategies to be of a higher value than that of the physical attributes? No longer a game for amateurs, your nerdy lab partner or your annoying younger brother. Esports players are taking over our world, not just virtually but physically to. Celebrity endorsements from the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Steve Aoki, and Ashton Kutcher have skyrocketed the popularity of the game even further even having Esports under consideration for a medal event in the 2024 Olympics.

It is clear that for Esports this is just the beginning of pushing the boundaries and altering perceptions. The world is literally the Esports oyster, and the possibilities are endless.

Bloggers Thoughts: Going from Players to Professionals!

Hiya Players and Novas! Today’s post will be a discussion post on the recent changes that I have been making on the blog. I really enjoy blogging, point blank. I am very social in real life so blogging and being social online is something that naturally appeals to me. I have met so many wonderful bloggers, gamers and downright awesome people so I want to keep on chugging! Recently I have added a few more bloggers to GamersUnitedGG so that we can increase the range of posts and diversity on the blog. The newest blogger to join us is Dale & his posts will show up as BTDPress! Check out his first post on The Psychology of Gaming here! Welcome to the team Dale!

Upgrades:

I’ve been making some changes and upgrades to gain more exposure for the blog. We have a few social media outlets in which you can stop by and read/interact with the posts. My goal is to have a fully functioning blog that represents the gaming and geek culture. With that said I am branching out and trying to change a few minor things on the blog.

  1. The First Impression & Game Review Posts – will now have a ranking at the end of the post. This will appear directly below the Play/Skip sections. I saw a great option for Hearts on the DoubleJump blog that I may use.
  2. Dedication – I’m going to strive to have at least 1 First Impressions or full Game Review every 2 weeks. (I want to have one weekly but I figured I should start slow first lol)
  3. Patreon – I have been seeing a few of my blogging buddies have started using Patreon to help fund their efforts in blogging. I am setting up a Patreon account and it will go live soon for anyone interested in helping support our efforts.
  4. Activities – I am trying to be more active with the blogging community as a whole (Twitter, Tumblr, etc). The minor problem is that my job has now thrown off my work/blog balance (which is why I haven’t posted in 2 days) so I need to come up with another way to stabilize.

Current Projects:

  1. Halloween Challenge/ Guest Blog Posts – The Guest Blog Post for this week is Zombie Survival. There’s still time to enter your 500 words or less response to How will you survive. Enter and link your post on the original post for use to read!
  2. Game Review – I found a gaming company that wanted bloggers to review their mobile game. This will be our first request to review a game post so I’m making sure that I am thoroughly playing the game.
  3. October’s Question of the Month- Read our Question of the Month post on the video game mercenary that we would hire and then check out our blogging buddies responses! You can vote for your favorite over at Later Levels by clicking here! Their post goes up October 16th!
  4. NaNoWriMo – I am planning to participate in the National November Writer’s Month Challenge where you would write 50,000 words on a novel. This is my first undertaking of the challenge and I want to do well so I am outlining the story that I would like to work on.
  5. Collaborations – I love collaborating with other bloggers. I am looking to do more collaboration posts. If you would like to collaborate email us or comment below!
  6. Book Review The King’s Curse- so I started reading the Kings Curse again and it got realllll interesting. I’m about a 3rd of the way through so I look to finish the book and the review by the end of the month.

That’s what we’re working on so far. What are you currently working on? What are your plans? Are you making any upgrades or changes to your blog or blogging process? How are you going from Player to Professional? Let’s talk blogging!

Have a great week!

-Luna 🙂

Here’s my thoughts on the posts submitted:

I loved how Chris described the scenery of the mansion. He exhibited video game tendencies by allowing the reader to see the choices that were before him. I really felt like I was playing the game alongside of Chris and it was a big plus!  We’ve all been there choosing the wrong path…

The Psychology of Gaming

“The essence of a role-playing game is that it is a group, cooperative experience. There is no winning or losing, but rather the value is in the experience of imagining yourself as a character in whatever genre you’re involved in, whether it’s a fantasy game, the Wild West, secret agents or whatever else. You get to sort of vicariously experience those things.”
– Gary Gygax

Roleplaying in any game is a unique opportunity to escape into the lives of a constructed persona, to live lives of adventure and cunning, battle and espionage. Tabletop games especially, such as Dungeons & Dragons, provide yet another critical aspect to this vicarious living – social interaction. Whether physically surrounded by friends or strangers, or communicating by headphone over the internet, gaming allows players to create their own story instead of just reading one that is already written. The unpredictability of the campaign is what is so compelling and often addicting, since with every conversation or combat encounter, everything could completely change. When I first started gaming, as an actor I was thrilled at the opportunity to perform and take on the personas of my characters. I would often make dozens at a time, even if I would only end up playing one, just to feel the rush of creation. But the performance aspect of roleplaying turned out to be just the tip of the iceberg. By exploring the minds of the characters, I inadvertently discovered I was exploring my own mind as well.

One thing I had begun to notice over the years was that no one makes a character without reason. Something about their personality or backstory appeals to the player, and the player often injects the same traits into multiple characters – often without noticing. This develops a core pattern of the mutual psychology of gaming. Simple put, characters become reflections of the players. Most often when I’ve brought this up to players, they were completely unaware of this. Some players make the same types of characters over and over, while others are all over the map with a few unifying traits.

For example, a good friend of mine had a character whose father was addicted to painkillers and her goal was to find an “out” for him. I somewhat jokingly pointed out that all of her characters are either distanced from their parents, or helping them deal with addiction in some way. She later admitted that her real mother was currently suffering from addition and at risk of losing everything. She had never noticed the similarities in her characters until I said something.

Because characters become an extension of the player’s psyche, there are times the player can feel exposed or agitated when that extension is pointed out. Recently I played with someone who created a drunken drifter with no motivation. When I as the Narrator started asking why the character fell into drink, what he was hiding from, and what he wanted to do before becoming a drink, the female player grew rather angry and admitted that there were “personal reasons” behind the character. Soon thereafter the player quit the group.

Another player who expressed an interest in joining revealed an even darker side of human psychology. He asked if I’d allow a secretly evil character into the group, and this began a long discussion on why he felt butchering civilians and releasing plagues on innocent populations could be justified. I counter-argued, expressing my belief that because the rest of the party was good in nature they wouldn’t stand for it and would likely attack, abandon, or arrest his character. That’s when things started to get “real.” He compared the situation to real life and said, for example, “if we were best friends and I killed someone because he annoyed me, would you help me bury the body or coldly call the police despite everything we mean to each other.” This opened an entirely new can of worms. When I started discussing the fact that most humans have a moral and legal compass that would prevent them from assisting in murder, he claimed I had no concept of human psychology and promptly left. Needless to say it was a rather harrowing experience that made me realize just how deeply embedded psychology and mental relations are to the gaming experience.

Over the years I seem to have attracted players who have many deep-seeded issues that we’ve been able to address and, in some cases, heal through roleplaying. It’s a calling and responsibility I don’t take lightly. I’ve learned not to ignore players others may consider problematic. Instead I do my best to understand why players play certain characters in certain ways, good or evil. Even the lack of motivation or depth of character speaks volumes to me. In my opinion, there are no lazy gamers. Players participate in roleplaying games to portray a character and interact with in a social environment, which takes dedication and initiative. So to go through the process of finding or forming a group, getting a character created, and then keeping up with them on a weekly basis, having a background such as “his family was killed, and now he just drinks and takes up mercenary work all day” says to me that the player has issues delving into their own psyche. That’s why the character has none to probe. So, by chipping away at the lone-wolf, murder-hobo exterior of two-dimensional characters, it’s entirely possible to uncover a cavern of suppressed emotions, personal history, and family life. While I personally don’t force any player to self-analyze, nor do I recommend others press the issue, it’s worth noting that every character is in fact a manifested mask covering the face of the player. Some are comical, some serious, some valiant, some violent – but all are worth seeing with new eyes and an open heart.

Overthrown Poem.

The battle was over and my house was crowned,

To rule the nation as the prince’s in town,

I was forth in line so I knew not how to lead,

Until the rebellion struck, now my brothers do bleed.

I need an heir to secure our reign,

Though I’ve hated her for my family she’s slain,

Her house is greedy but will never overthrow,

The house of Begirie, best in the world.

Happy Tuesday Novas! Starting tomorrow I will post a short story every Wednesday in connection to this poem. It will be a 4 segment series.

Shout out to Luna from GamersUnitedGG for coming up with this guest blog challenge. This had me raking my brain on how to get my word count down low enough to meet the qualifications for this challenge and I’m STILL 25 words over. Haha. See the prompt below and enjoy!

Prompt: You are transported into a video game where you are inside of a Haunted Mansion. You hear a strange noise and open the door to find what?

I didn’t know where I was or how I got here, but I knew for sure I couldn’t deny the opportunity to conquer this haunted mansion. A light shove on the door proved adequate enough to send the typical creaking sound of old construction squealing through the house. I was just thankful I didn’t need to roam around the yard looking for some secret key to open the house. Clearly this wasn’t…
