Countdown to 2018: Favorite Video Games Released in 2017!

Power up Players for Countdown week on GamersUnitedGG! We are nearing the end of the year and have experienced another fantastic year of video games, movies and interests. Before we catalogue this year in our memories, we will be counting down the top moments of the year! To start off the week of countdowns, we’re going to start with the premise of the blog, video games! We have been asking around and will list our top video games of 2017 in descending order from number 5 to our favorite game of the year!

#5 Call of Duty World War II – cod

Call of Duty World War II comes at the bottom of the list for me. While I am happy to finally have played a COD game after a few years hiatus, WWII wasn’t as grand as I thought it would be. I believe it is because I wasn’t really a fan of World at War and WWII is supposed to be a sort of sequel to that game. The old school style guns and maps are just not appealing to me, but the game is still fun so it made my list!

#4 Golf It – Golf-It-Free-Download

Golf It is a mini golf game (similar to Golf With Friends) where you will play as the golf ball! I like this game because you can change the appearance of your golf ball like adding on hats or changing the color. This game is an adventure, sandbox type game where the community can create maps for you to download. Golf it is super fun and I’ve been playing a few times a week with my friends (this will be a game featured on the YouTube channel next year).

#3 Destiny 2 – destiny3

D2 is my first experience with Destiny as I did not play the original Destiny game. I just didn’t find it appealing, but after being worn down by my friends, I picked up Destiny 2 about a week after it’s release. You can review my First Impressions post by clicking here! I really enjoyed D2 and the variety of game modes gave it a better rating in my opinion.

#2 Final Fantasy XIV Online – final

I have just recently purchased Final Fantasy XIV Online (First Impressions Post coming soon). FFXIV is a MMORPG game where you are battling bosses, fulfilling quests and leveling your characters to become a great savior! Sooo pretty much another RPG game. What I love about FF so far is that it offers soooo many missions and character classes that you can play. I am playing as an Arcanist but I think I will upgrade to a Summoner soon. This is my first experience with a Final Fantasy game and I am enjoying the ride so far. Plus Chocobos!!!!!!

#1 Halo Wars 2 – halo-wars-banner

My number 1 game for 2017 has to be Halo Wars 2 hands down! I was super excited when I found out that HW2 was being released on the Xbox One, so much so that I traded in my original Xbox One and bought the Halo Wars 2 Xbox One S bundle! Best purchase of my life! The new Xbox runs smoother, is white (which I wanted instead of the standard black one), is slimmer and just beautiful! You can read my review of Halo Wars 2 by clicking here! I really enjoyed the strategy game and I still play it to this day (it was released in February). If you have played HW2, I also wrote a First Impressions and Tips post!

Those are my top games played that were released in 2017. Let’s hear from some of our blogging buddies:

Drakulus- Top 5 games of 2017 are  Divinity: Original Sin 2, Wolfeinstein 2, Mass Effect: Andromeda, The Elder Scrolls Legends, and For Honor. Read the review on why and the top 10 games that made the list by clicking here!

Lightning Ellen – Top 5 games didn’t really make her list because she didn’t play 5 games in 2017 lol! She did give her insight on her top 2 games which are Hellblade and Horizon Zero Dawn!

Hundstrasse – Luke from Hundstrasse posted on his top 5 games of 2017 which included 7 Days to Die, Owlboy, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Strafe and Fortnite! Read his reasons for selecting each game and their placings by clicking here!

The Well Red Mage – Our buddy and fellow blogger at WRM selected:

#1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
#2. Super Mario Odyssey
#3. Shovel Knight Treasure Trove
#4. The Disney Afternoon Collection
#5. SteamWorld Dig 2

What are your top game releases of 2017 that you have absolutely loved? Which games are you looking forward to in 2018? Have you played any of the video games on our lists? Tomorrow we countdown our Top WWE Events of 2017 and the 12 Days of Christmas posts resume! Let’s talk video games!

CWL Dallas Results!

Power up players! This past weekend was the first Call of Duty competitive event for Call of Duty World at War! We have crowned our first tournament of the season, but before I announce the winning team in the $200,000 prize pool open tournament, let’s talk about some of the highlights of the weekend! You can view my predictions post by clicking here!

The event started on Friday December 8th with the massive open bracket and stacked Pool Play teams. The event was cut short by a supposed bomb threat and that threw off the tournament and the players for the rest of the weekend. The streams and games cancelled for the rest of Friday evening, which set a strict timeline for Saturday and Sunday.

Pool Play

The bulk of the pool play matches took place on Saturday and many of the matches did not have short intermissions like we were used to in previous events. It was one map after the other which was great for the viewers but may have been an added stressor for the players. The results of pool play are below

Pool A – Optic and NV

Pool B – LG and Ground Zero

Pool C – Team Kaliber and Red Reserve

Pool D – Splyce and eUnited

Open Bracket:

I think the biggest effect that the delay of the event had was definitely on the open bracket teams. The open bracket normally plays Friday nights and Saturday mornings, however, because of the incident, they were forced to play over 10 hours on Saturday. This could have fatigued the teams before being inserted into the deadly pools and having to face some of the best teams in the world. That is not an excuse, but you can wonder how that would have affected some of the matches in pools.

The four teams that came out of pool play were Echo Fox, Allegiance, Faze and Next Threat .

All 4 of these teams are known and I was not surprised that they emerged into Pool Play. Echo Fox moved to Pool A, Allegiance moved to Pool B, Next Threat went to Pool C and Faze went to Pool D (Pool of Death!).

Championship Bracket:

Champ bracket consisted of the top 2 teams from each pool battling against each other in a best of 5 series. The number 1 teams were randomly drawn against the number 2 teams. The remaining teams were not eliminated, but placed in the loser’s bracket in which 1 loss eliminates you from the competition. The Champ matches are displayed below.

Winners Round 1:

Optic versus Red Reserve

Ground Zero versus Splyce

Team Kaliber versus Echo Fox

eUnited versus Luminosity

Winners Round 2:

Optic vs Splyce

TK vs eUnited

Bracket

Finals: Optic beat Splyce and sent them to the losers bracket where they took on the winner faze. In the winner’s finals, Optic lost to TK and was sent to the losers bracket to take on the winners of Splyce versus Faze! Splyce pulled out an impressive victory over Faze and battled the team that sent them to the loser’s bracket, Optic Gaming in the Loser’s Bracket Finals! Splyce pulled off the 3-0 to send Optic Gaming out of the tournament and advance to the Grand Finals where Team Kaliber was waiting.

Splyce versus TK ended with Team Kaliber winning CWL Dallas! I didn’t see that one coming but TK played fantastically the whole way through. Breakout star Kenny really sealed the deal for Team Kaliber and I can see them being a threat in the coming events.

Placings

Do you watch any competitive Esports? Did you watch CWL Dallas? Who were your favorites? Who were some surprise teams? Let’s talk Esports!

CWL Dallas Pool Play Predictions!

Power up Players for my Call of Duty World League Pool Play Predictions post! With the release of Call of Duty World War II game last month. If you’ve heard anything about this game, the most frequent mantra was that Boots are Back on the Ground! For my none Call of Duty Players, the last 3 games Advanced Warfare, Black Ops III and Infinite Warfare were games that incorporated some form of jetpacks. This took away from the traditional COD scene and really shook up the pro player scene. Now that we are back to being on the ground, the consensus is that players who excelled in earlier Cod games will be back on top, but is that true?

Now the first tournament of the year is set for this weekend in Dallas, Texas. The pros and non pros have been battling for pro points in weekly tournaments to make it into Pool Play. Pool Play has 16 teams already seeded and sorted and 4 additional teams will be sorted into different pools from the largest open bracket in COD history! Let’s breakdown how the tournament works and then I will get on to the predictions!

Pool Play: 16 Teams are split between Pools A -D. All teams in Pool A play each other in a best of 5 series. The top 2 teams from each group move on to the Championship Bracket.

Open Bracket: Any teams not already in pool play will play Best of 3 series until only 2 teams are remaining. The Open bracket teams usually start playing on Thursday and play all night until Saturday morning.

Pool Play Teams:

Pool A – OpTic Gaming, E6, Unilad, NV

Pool B – Luminosity Gaming, Ground Zero, Vitality, Epsilon

Pool C – Team Kaliber, Red Reserve, Rise Nation, Mindfreak

Pool D – Splyce, EUnited, Ghost Gaming, Evil Geniuses

pool

Notable Open Bracket Teams: Echo Fox, Millennium, Team Canada

Pool Play Predictions:

Pool A – OpTic and NV

Pool B – LG and Ground Zero

Pool C – TK and Red Reserve

Pool D – Splyce and Ghost Gaming

The Rise of Online Gaming

Video Games have always served as a means of entertainment. The rapid growth of the video game industry has changed the way that we view the recreational hobby. Now video games can be used to teach lessons, talk about moral values and relieve stress or tension from the everyday world. One of the fastest avenues in video games is the rise of online gaming!

Video game developers are changing with the needs of the consumer. We, as players drive the trends that are hitting the market and the online gaming community is one of the largest in the world today. Posting on forums, reddit and also submitting feedback to the developers directly has helped to improve the gaming experience for all. Take for instance Betas.  for honor  Developers are more frequently releasing Betas of their games and it is predominantly for online multiplayer games. This way gamers can try the game and tell the developers what is missing? What should be changed? And most importantly, what they love about the game.

Mobile and Social games are on the rise as well. One of my friends recently told me that she didn’t think that mobile gaming was a true form of gaming. Yet, she had to apologize for her bias as now she sees the appeal and is hooked on a mobile game now. The great thing about mobile games is that they encourage you to make friends and play with others (mostly from your Facebook page). Mobile gaming allows you to share your scores and receive perks if you have friends that also play the game. The increase of this social aspect in mobile gaming can shows nontraditional gamers why online gaming is popular.  Recently, I myself have been impressed with the mobile games. You can have just as much fun gaming on your phone as on a console or PC.

Remember hearing that you cannot make a career out of gaming? Or hearing that you need to get up and find a job because video games will not pay the bills? Right now, video games are a multi-billion dollar industry with gamers really making a living off of doing what they love best; playing video games. You can go to school for game development, make your money via mobile apps or play in online tournaments to win prize money. Popular games like Dota, League of Legends and Call of Duty host multi-million-dollar tournaments throughout the year. imageedit_5_2082544926 Sponsors are getting in on the action by making products that appeal to gamers like equipment, gaming gear and snacks that you will need to keep playing. This is another source of advertising and revenue which benefits both the players and the companies. Sites like Gamebattles.com and UMG.com allow players to buy into tournament ladders and play for a prize pool. You don’t always have to travel to make money in gaming.

The great thing is that Youtubers, Streamers and Professional Gamers are treating video games as a career. They are setting schedules, putting in the time and practice and staying true to their fans. Professional gamers are making real life decisions and choices to better their brand. Responsibility, working hard and sticking to a schedule is being taught to gamers who want to build an empire. Not everyone makes it, but it’s a skill set that is easily transferable to the real world.

Online gaming is now one of the aspects that developers focus on primarily. This is both a great thing and a not so great thing. Video games should come in all varieties and appeal to different sets of gamers. While I am one that looks for the online multiplayer part of a game, not all gamers are interested in running and gunning in Call of Duty. some really enjoy the story and campaign modes. So, while online gaming continues to skyrocket and explode the video game markets, let’s not forget about the single player, mobile and puzzle games that will keep you busy when you are not able to get online.

What do you think about the rise of online gaming? Are you a console, PC or mobile gamer? How do you feel about the professional gaming scene? Let’s talk!

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

                                     Hello Everyone! Happy November!

november
November for most states, is a time of change when the weather starts to drop in temp and the leaves fall from the trees in all shades of reds, yellow, and browns but if you are like me and live in Florida, we get none of that. I get to enjoy the change of season by either watching it on my phone or the TV (*sighs sadly*).

I am so excited for today’s post! Nintendo has recently released news about their newest mobile game app, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, which is set to release sometime this month! animalcrossing1

The game will be free to download for Apple/Android users with in-App purchases. Players will be able to create and manage a unique campsite for all of their animal friends to enjoy! I don’t know about you, but this sounds pretty awesome and different from most other games on the market already! The game will feature special events and will have updates through the course of the game.

Now, I only know of one person who is playing the Beta version of the game now and I hate them. I mean, I don’t hate them but like really, really, really, really dislike them. mineYes, I am super jealous of them and even thought about stealing their phone so I could play and for it to be ALL MINE….. But I think they live in a different state now and that seems like a lot of trouble to go through, so I think I’ll just wait.

Pocket Camp will give players the chance to build furniture, create fun amenities like a Merry-go-Round or Half-Pipe for animal friends to enjoy, decorate your campsite and camper, gather fruit, collect bugs, make friends and earn rewards, and so much more! Whoo that was a lot to list. Basically, you want to have the coolest and most popular campsite so that way you and all of your animal friends can enjoy it together! As of now, you can pre-register to receive updates of when you will be able to download the game. Don’t worry, I have already pre-registered a few days ago!newanimal.png

I will be downloading this as soon as it releases and will totally post about my experience, my camp, and all the fun I am having with this game. I haven’t even played it yet and  I already think it will be the best ever! I use to play Animal Crossing when it came out for the DS and the Wii so this will be interesting to have it on my phone. If you want to pre-register or learn more about the game, you can visit their site Animal Crossing here.

If you have any thoughts or are already playing the game, let me know in the comments down below!

Hand of Fate 2: All you want to know (Preview by Gamers Nation)

Power up Players! Today’s post will be a guest post from our friends over at Gamers-Nation! Make sure to take a look at their blog via the links below if you like the content! Enjoy!

-Luna 🙂

Hand of Fate 2 is a sequel to one of the most interesting and original games released recently. The focus here is simple, you are playing against the dealer and you need to win the best way you can. Just like in the previous game, you are exploring a dark fantasy world that’s created from a collectible cards set. The world is randomly generated and you can explore it based on your own choices.

Gameplay

The best thing about Hand of Fate 2 is that each card brings you a new trial. You can stick to the tabletop RPG experience, you can enter the combat regions as a third person experience or you can enjoy some mini-games as you try to figure out what’s more important and fun for you. hof2 -3

The focus is on creating a powerful deck and eliminating your opponents. But the dealer also has quite a lot of stuff up his sleeve, so it’s up to you to deal with the situation and battle the experience the best way you can. hof 2-1

As you can see, Hand of Fate 2 is rather similar to the original, but it does have its own cool new stuff too. For example, there’s a new map based meta game. This comes with its own range of delightful and fun challenges for you to explore. It’s interesting, distinct and among some of the nicest things that you can enjoy out there.

What’s New

Moreover, the game has expanded its unique set of combat styles, with two handed heavy arms and dual wielding being a nice experience at this particular time. You also have the ability to battle some new foes and there are quite a lot of new card suits too. From the imperial forces or the blight, there’s a lot of stuff for you to unlock, explore and battle as you see fit. That’s what makes Hand of Fate 2 shine, the fact that you get more of the same stuff, but also improved and seamlessly integrated into a new experience. hof 2-2

You can also team up with companions and they offer a lot of support if needed. There are some mini game perks too and these can help influence the game experience quite a lot. This offers a tremendous set of results and the outcome is by far one of the best out there.

As a whole, Hand of Fate 2 is a very interesting game and one that you will like quite a lot due to the way it plays and works. It’s fun, more detailed and it manages to offer that sense of great gaming experience that you always wanted. You should consider giving it a try if you love card games or action games, because it has the perfect blend between these two genres. Just consider giving it a shot if you love this sort of games, and you will see just how impressive and astonishing the game can be for you. Hand of Fate 2 launches 7 Nov, 2017.

First Impressions: Fortnite!

Hiya Players! Thank you for reading today’s First Impressions post of the game Fortnite. Fortnite is a Battle Royale, survival-esque game in which you can survive against a horde or go straight into PVP versus 100 other tributes! Sounds familiar? Well that’s because Fortnite can be compared to H1Z1 and Player Unknown Battlegrounds or PUBG. But this survival game is a bit different then it’s predecessors and I’m here to tell you why!

First off the game is free to play on PC and PS4 at the moment. Don’t be afraid to get into the high octane action yourself after reading my first impressions. However, you can only play the Battle Royale without purchasing the full game.

Battle Royale- In Battle Royale you can play in a squad or solo against 100 other tributes (I said that already lol). You begin by jumping out of a Bus (the Magic Schoolbus lol) and skydiving to a section of the island where your battle will take place. You start off with only a simple pickaxe and you must scavenge nearby buildings (or player’s bodies) to upgrade your weapons. Pretty simple, right? What makes this game a bit different is the ability to build during your battle. That’s right, you have blueprints pre-installed in your character for different structures that you can build with materials.

Fortnite-Review-Shot-(9)
Usgamer.net

Use your pickaxe to get wood or find it and other materials such as stone or metal on the way. The ability to build adds a new element to the otherwise scavenge and shoot game. I’ve seen players build shelters while they quickly scavenge for an escape route from a pursuing enemy. You’re only objective is to be the Lone Survivor

So why not just camp in a building? Well the game takes care of our friendly “Campers” by making sure that they have to move every few minutes. This is regulated by a shrinking storm border. If you get caught in the storm you will take damage until  1 of 2 things happen; You die or you make it into the safe zone that’s marked on your map. This mechanic also ensures that the games are not super long.

Weapon Diversity- So far I’ve seen your standard weapons like pistols, shotguns, semi auto shotguns, sniper rifles, assault rifles, grenades and more. What’s pretty cool and exclusive to Fortnite as well is the integration of Weapon Traps. You can place a trap on the ceiling (the only one I’ve found so far) and injure your enemy.

There’s another cool component of the scavenging process. You can find these treasure chests that are stocked with great gear. If you’re near the chests you can hear the music change.

Luna’s Pro Tips: There are a few pro tips that I’ve picked up in the games that I’ve played and I’ll share them with you!

  1. On the initial descent, try to pick an area away from the other players. This way you can have a bit more time to prepare for the uphill battle.
  2. Listen to your surroundings.- This is probably the most crucial tip. You can hear people running, picking up items, opening doors, etc. If you listen you will know the direction of the danger.
  3. Crouch walk This goes hand in hand with tip number 2. Crouch walking minimizes the noise that YOU make. It’s a great way to sneak up on other tributes.

Final Thoughts: The Early Access for Fortnite was pretty cool and allowed me to gain a feel for the game. I do see myself eventually picking up the game when the price lowers a bit, although I don’t know whether it will be on PS4 or PC. I really loved the integration of building materials to make Fortnite a different experience. I imagine that you can select your characters when you actually purchase the game as the random character selection didn’t appeal to me as much. I do hope that there’s more than 1 multiplayer battle island becuase I found myself going to the same areas after a few rounds. These areas were guaranteed to have something good.

This is the section of my reviews where I list my top reasons you would want to Play or Skip the game!

Play:

  • A fun way to play a battle royale
  • It’s free access, I mean at least download it for later lol
  • Horde (Survival Mode) looks really fun!

Skip:

  • Not into survival games
  • Missed the free access trial

imageedit_3_3668639108imageedit_3_3668639108imageedit_3_3668639108imageedit_3_3668639108imageedit_10_9806928873

I give the game 4 out of 5 Power-Ups! It was pretty fun and the multiplayer option is a bit different each time.

Those are my thoughts on the Fortnite Battle Royale Game! Have you played it yet? What games are you currently playing? Let’s Talk Video Games!

What is Esports?

Happy Wednesday Players! This post will be a special guest post from a writer on Twitter @EthanThomasJnr regarding his thoughts on Esports! Make sure to give him a follow if you enjoy the post and would like to read more from him!

esports

Since the dawn of time, man has competed against each other for gold and glory. Today is no different with the latest and greatest test of skill, speed, strength, strategy, and tactics being professional competitive video gaming, enter Esports. Yip. You heard videogaming correctly, no longer the pastime of basement dwellers or angsty teenagers gaming is now seen as a reliable test of manhood, skill, and technique and is even regarded as a valid career choice for a skilled few.

This form of competition facilitated by an electronic system and mediated by a human-computer interface is seeing teenagers earn millions of dollars, seeing the signing of lucrative sponsorship deals, dating supermodels and racing fast cars – it is also something that they inherently enjoy doing.  Job Goals? I am still not sure? This form of organized multiplayer video game competition involves real-time strategy fighting first-person shooter (FPS ) and multiplayer online battle arena’s ( MOBA). What used to be a recreational pastime now sits on the edge of becoming recognized as a real spot with analytical data services dubbing Esports as the biggest thing to hit the tech industry since the launch of the iPhone in 2007, with the buzz around Esports only ever moving forward. Esports is not necessarily the hallmark of a conventional sport, as the competition is augmented by technology. However, the consensus is that when physical exertion and sheer power are eliminated, reflexes and mental agility come to the fore. With Esports becoming what every traditional sports league is desperate to become; young, global, digital and increasingly diverse, it’s no surprise that in our instant digital world sports can now be virtual. Tournaments such as The International, The League of Legends World Championship, and the Intel Extreme Masters all provide live broadcasts of the competition, as well as lucrative prize money to the winning competitors, bring in a crowd of about 71.5 million viewers of Esports worldwide, 85% being male and 15% being female. Majority of the viewers are between the ages of 28 and 34 and the global esports market generating US$ 493 million in revenue in 2016. You heard right. 493 million.

Top-level players are now able to compete in video games the way other athletes compete in football or tennis. So how does one become a part of this prosperous industry? Is it more than just spending hours in a darkened room illuminated only by the ambient glow of a tv screen. The answer is yes. These professional gamers spend most of their time doing exactly what conventional sports athletes do: train. A Lot. Now the training might not involve several laps or stretches, but it does require countless hours practicing, various tactics, strategies, and techniques. Taking a lot of dedication and hard work, it’s important to pick your game, practice and stay motivated. Esports, specifically CSGO, has experienced an explosion in popularity throughout the world, not only with its increase in viewership via game streaming services like Youtube and Twitch but as well as through its reality show on TBS network and a documentary on VICE called “The Celebrity Millionaires of Competitive Gaming.” With that, a new narrative was born: the Esports athlete lifestyle of the rich and nerdy. Esports players are now able to form teams, attract sponsors and compete in online tournaments all around the world. Esports has the power to make you more than a gamer, more than an athlete but a brand. There is so much that the new digital age brings us, but aside from our ability to order pizza from just about anywhere at any time of the day and our narcissistic Instagram feeds and excessive filters technology is now offering a new way to look at how we define not only sport but athletes too.

They say the meek will inherit the earth and with Esports taking over the sports industry have the athletes of yesterday lost their place in the limelight? Does our society no longer think that the physical aspects of the sport are the truest testament of skill and strength? Or is there something more? Does the 21st century hold mental agility and strategies to be of a higher value than that of the physical attributes? No longer a game for amateurs, your nerdy lab partner or your annoying younger brother. Esports players are taking over our world, not just virtually but physically to. Celebrity endorsements from the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Steve Aoki, and Ashton Kutcher have skyrocketed the popularity of the game even further even having Esports under consideration for a medal event in the 2024 Olympics.

It is clear that for Esports this is just the beginning of pushing the boundaries and altering perceptions. The world is literally the Esports oyster, and the possibilities are endless.

Gamer’s Log: Part 3!

Happy Monday Novas and Players! Thank you for tuning into today’s post that will be a log of my current games and progress.

Roblox: Restaurant Tycoon –   restaurant  So with the addition of my new gaming PC I have downloaded and been playing games with it for the past week. If you recall, I did a Hidden Treasures post on the sandbox game Roblox a while back, you can read that post here! This week I started playing the mini game Restaurant Tycoon! Restaurant Tycoon is a game where you can customize and run your own Restaurant.  You have “Ekea” to shop for furnishings and you can hire staff. I started with a British Pub type feel but my restaurant quickly turned into a Family Style dining location! Checkpoint: I’ve completed all of the upgrades so now I’m just paying for fun!

Destiny 2 –   destiny3  So I’m working on my Destiny 2 review and that will be up in a few weeks. The First Impressions post will be up most likely Monday morning. Checkpoint: I’ve completed the story and am working on reaching 270 so that I can play the Raid. Currently, I’m at 250. Also, I’m undefeated in solo Crucible games at the moment. The game is really fun! check out the First Impressions post by clicking here!

Topps WWE Slam Cards- I have been slacking on my WWE trading card game. I log in everyday to collect my free coins, but I haven’t been going after sets like I normally am. Checkpoint: I received a specialty Seth Rollins Card from the No Mercy Pay Per View!!! All is right with the world lol. I also received some cool WWE Zombies cards this past week. If you want to add me to trade cards, my name is Luna26x.

Yugioh: Legacy of the Duelist- I’ve been trying to complete all of the story modes in my Yugioh game! This game is really fun and I’m building different battle packas. I may play online tonight. Checkpoint: about 42% through the Yugioh GX story mode. 2 more to go after this one I believe.

Duelyst –   duelyst-2  This is a new card game that was recommended to me on my Facebook feed. It looks comparable to Smite Tactics where you select a champion and battle using the cards in your hand to defeat the other champion. I’ve played the tutorial and started story mode and this game looks fun so far. Checkpoint: I’ve played a few online battles!

Fortnite –   fortnite-listing-thumb-01-ps4-us-24may17  Fortnite Battle Royale was available to download for free on PS4 so I have been playing. There’s no leveling up or anything unless you purchase the full game, but I’ve quite enjoyed jumping out of the bus and scavenging for goods among 100 other players. First Impressions Post coming later this week! Checkpoint: I’m just playing the Battle Royale mode since the survival mode in the game is unavailable.

Asteroid Challenge –   asteroid-challenge-trailer.mp4  I’m working on an asteroid shooter mobile game review so I have been playing the Asteroid Challenge game on my phone. This game is pretty awesome and I can feel myself slowly sinking deeper, and deeper into the game. Full review will be up later this week. Checkpoint: Battling through Asteroids!

Those are the games that I am currently playing at the moment. Which games are taking up your free time? Do you have any goals for your current games? Let’s talk video games!

First Impressions: Destiny 2!

Hiya Novas and Players! Thank you for reading today’s First Impressions post of the new release, Destiny 2! Sooo this review has been completed for about 2 weeks, but my clips wouldn’t upload lol. The First Impression Posts are a brief overview of the game and what I like or dislike about it so far. The full game review will come at a later date when I am able to complete all of the main components of the game.

Backstory: So I thought that it would be appropriate to provide a little bit of a backstory on me and Destiny! Sooo… I never played the first one. My online friends have been telling me since the release date to play the game, because Bungie made it. I would shareplay with my friend Decaying Senpai all of the time, yet I never really built up an interest to go and get the game or even try it. Lately I have been having more of an open mind when it comes to playing games that do not interest me. Anyway fast forward to the review!

First Impressions: I COMPLETELY LOVE THE GAME!!!!! Well so far that is. Destiny has sooo much going on that if you get bored with one type of gameplay, you can transition to another. Destiny in a nutshell is a First Person Shooter (FPS) mixed with an RPG (Role Playing Game). I have completed the story which is fantastic at the moment. I find myself particularly drawn to Cayde-6 who is a robot Hunter.  destiny1  It’s cinematic excellence and the story makes sense.

I have also played other things like the multiplayer Crucible and public events.

Story: The story follows the new Guardian (which is the character that you create) as their world is threatened by  a leader known as Dominus! Side note: If you remember from my Halo Wars 2 Review, Bungie (who also made Halo Wars 2) inserted a similar character known as Decimus! I found that the antagonist in this story had similar motives and personality traits. Anyway, Dominus is taking the “light” which is the source of power for all guardians.   destiny2  Your job is to try and get that light back and save your home! I do like the missions, they are a bit too long in some cases then what I am used to, but it’s a great way to binge play the day away.

Side Quests: During the story, you unlock different planets like EDZ (Earth Dead Zone), Titan and Nessus. Each planet has a mob for you to face and side quests. These quests are known as “Adventures” and can help you level up or receive rewards. Side quests so far, do not seem as long as the main story missions.

Public Events: Public events happen continuosuly throughout the day. These are short battles with the enemy alongside other Guardians and Friends! The shortest things that you can do in the game, the public event has you facing off against loads of mobs and a few giant bosses to collect your loot!

The Crucible: The Crucible is the online multiplayer, competitive aspect of Destiny 2! You are able to play games such as Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed and even Search and Destroy (gamemodes from COD but I don’t remember their names in Destiny). I haven’t played many Crucible games as of yet because I want to complete the story and reach level 20 first (currently lvl 18).

There’s plenty more to enjoy in Destiny like Raids and other events. I haven’t been able to play them as of yet, but I have seen them via share play.

I really enjoy the game so far and I can see myself getting lost in playing hours of Destiny 2. There’s far more to experience and do, but since this is not a full review post, I will just give you some of my thoughts via the Play and Skip sections!

Play:

  • Endless activities to keep you occupied
  • A fantastic story with awesome graphics and music
  • Customization and Social fluidness (you can download the app and find Guardians to play with)

Skip:

  • Missions are too long for you to play
  • Not a fan of FPS

Those are my first impressions of Destiny 2! What are your thoughts on the game? Are you currently playing Destiny 2? Also, feel free to provide your username if you would like to play sometime, mines is Luna26x! Let’s talk Destiny 2!
