Power up Players for today’s collaboration with Ian from Adventure Rules! The Charming and Open event is where Ian accepts questions from the community and attempts to answer them in a single post. He has recently started including the community in these questions and here we are!
What are the questions?
We have decided to talk about board games for this post.I have asked Ian:“In a tabletop RPG, which character do you like playing the most (type and favorite character)?”
What parts of playing tabletop are you best at? Where can you improve?
This is a pretty interesting question. As I am fairly new to tabletop gaming, I asked the help of my gaming buddies for this question. Jaysen told me that I excel at picking up the rules quickly and that he really likes that I am open minded about the type of games we are playing. A few times a month we get together for a game night and select a game from their massive collection that only seems to continue growing in size. My bucket list has become to play every board game that they own.
So I’ve started thinking more in depth about the type of role that I normally play. We played a co-op dungeon game called Gloomhaven and I was immediately drawn to the mage character for several reasons. I’m a creature of habit so choosing the female or the purple tokens are a given, just as much as choosing Yoshi or Daisy in a Mario game is for me. The mage was a female purple caster so I was immediately drawn to her.
Mages are great characters to use when you want to deal out a ton of damage from a rather safe position (normally behind your teammates lol). Gloomhaven was my first experience with a dungeon diving game and I was super happy to play it cooperatively with my team. My co-worker and his husband have game nights where I am a frequent guest. What I love is that they have a ton of games to play and each with more intricacies than then the previous game.
Root is a board game that I’ve recently played with my friends during our weekly game night. In Root, characters battle for control of the land using the resources of their kind. What I have found fascinating about Root is that every faction has different strengths and ways that they can win the game. I played as the Woodland Alliance where my main objective was to spread sympathy to rally supporters for my cause. Once I was able to build sympathy on a designated clearing, I could take control by moving my soldiers into that space.
The more areas of the forest that your character controls, the more options you have when attacking or initiating an action.
Root is my example on a way that I know I can improve my board gaming experience. I came in 2nd in Root having played a great game where I was seemingly last until the final few rounds where my plan started coming together. I am the type of player that loves the flashy plays and this tendency pushes me to play “The Long Con” game. A long con is basically looking like I’m always a step behind because I am playing for the huge playoff at the end of the game. Long Cons are super fun to play when they pay off and you see the reaction of the other players in the room ( which happened the 2nd to the last round where I lept into first place).
All was looking good for me except for 1 fatal flaw… my long con plan to release a large scale attack and score points was thwarted by my miscalculation. When I pulled the move I added my points incorrectly placing me 1 space from winning. During that same round after my turn, my friend Carl who played Marquis de Cat was just 3 spaces from the end and casually walked past me to score his final points and win.
Root isn’t the only board game where I failed at the long con, falling just shy of the victory. Because this strategy requires you to think several moves ahead, one mistake and you can find yourself in 2nd place or worse, still in last waiting to make your final move. I believe I can improve on the timing and farming needed for long cons to really play a well rounded game.
My game nights with my co-worker has really opened my mind in the possibilities of playing board games and playing outside of my comfort zone. I am eager to learn and willing to try any and all games to see if I enjoy them or not. Have you played any board games recently? What are your go to roles and where do you think you can improve? Let’s talk board games!
Hmm… I’m the first to arrive. I guess the rest of the field doesn’t value being on time. If this is their level of effort on the first day, I’m sure I can make it to the finale. This Castle is nice. Hyrule is just another land that I have saved while fighting off the covenant, the flood and any other species threatening Earth. I guess this sign means I should get to the ballroom.
Mastechief walks through the foyer into the ballroom cleverly marked “CONTESTANTS MEET HERE.” He passes a box of oranges that seem displaced and open the 2 giant doors to take his seat. Shortly after his arrival, other famed video game characters entered into Hyrule Mansion all with the eagerness to prove that they are the best video game character of all time.
The room is crowded as the contestants look each other over and engage in conversation about the video games each character comes from.
*Cue the host*
Welcome Contestants to Hyrule Castle and week 1 of the Video Game Reality House! This competition will be one of social prowess and competitive spirit. The large 70 inch tv that we had installed shows Professor Oak from Pokemon!
I’m sorry I am unable to greet you in person but being a Professor and connoisseur of knowledge doesn’t take me far from my laboratory. No worries. I will be happy to explain and host all of your events. I see that you all have gotten a chance to know each other, but I do need to go over some house rules.
No Weapons – ClapTrap be a good ole boy and collect the weapons that our friends Masterchief, Marcus, Duke and all other contestants have on them
You cannot leave the castle grounds without permission
All communication with the outside world is prohibited
After a daunting list of rules and regulations, the Prof seemed perplex.
“We seemed to be missing someone…”
Bowser and his friend Spyro burst into the room. They take their place towards the middle of teh room where the moonlight seems to hit like a spotlight.
“You can’t start the festivities without us!” Bowser huffs
The rest of the room seemed intimidated for a moment but then Marcus Fenix broke the silence.
“You should really be on time. For an overgrown turtle, you really live up to your predisposition. I hope you’re not this slow if we have a race, surely you will fail and be eliminated on the spot.” Marcus takes a giant drag of his cigar.
“Why you fool. Do you have any idea who I am? I am King Koopa and the most fearsome creature…”
“Oh I forgot a rule. No smoking Mr Fenix. We’re going to need you to put that out.” Professor Oak interrupts.
“I don’t have a problem with that. But hot head over her will likely need a reminder.” Marcus flicks his cigar towards Bowser before it is incinerated by Spyro. Looks like those 2 are in for a rivalry.
During the debate Duke notices another box of oranges in the back of the room.
“Looks like we have a shy one guys.” He picks up an apple from the fruit bowl in the center of the dining table and tosses it with force at the box. The apple explodes on contact after tilting the box and revealing the combat boots of another competitor.
“That’s not nice.” The voice calls beneath the box. Solid Snake stands up and tosses the box aside. “You’ve blown my cover.” He wipes off his shoulders and pulls a redwood chair from the dining table. Turning the chair backwards Snake sits and joins in the competition. Duke smirks and signals for Professor Oak to continue.
“Tomorrow will be the first Event and 4 characters will be up for elimination at the end of the week. You will need to…”
“I’m here!” Princess Peach enters the room with the scent of roses and perfume trailing her. She’s in a traditional pink Ballgown that cascades onto the floor and her assistant Toad is right behind her with can only be described as a mountain of luggage.
“Ahh Princess, I’d wondered where you got to. Our cameras show you checking in well over an hour ago.”
“I have to make an entrance of course. If you’re the first to the party then you are not that important.” she smiles. “Would anyone offer me a seat?”
The entire cast of men jump out of their seat and start offering their seats as if they were selling real estate to the Princess.
“I have the couch which is nice and comfy for her highness” “ I have a chair that’s closest to the fireplace.” The room echoed on until the last contestant entered the room…
The attention on the Princess quickly shifted when her competition walked in wearing an elegant purple and blue mesh dress. Her crown sat atop of her head and her elven ears stuck out just enough.
“Ah the final contestant. Everyone please welcome Princess Zelda!”
The jaw of Peach dropped as she realized Zelda was the anonymous entry into the house. How she is not the only royalty in the contest and how her game plan needed to shift to compete.
“As I was saying. Tomorrow you will compete in your first event so better get some rest.”
With everyone gathered on the front lawn of Hyrule Castle, the bot ClapTrap begins handing out maps.
Prof Oak: “You will need to match up with your coordinating partners. 3 Captains will be appointed and they will pick their desired team. Today’s challenge will test your teamwork and problem solving skills. It’s a Scavenger Hunt of sorts!” The teams will be Red, Blue, and Purple! Your task is to select a team captain and capture the objective. But this isn’t a normal scavenger hunt. Each of you will be finding items that link up to a puzzle. Solve each puzzle to move on to the next part of the event. There are 3 checkpoints in this race with the last obstacle being finding and returning the target. Once you have completed the last puzzle, it’s a race to capture the target and bring it back to the finish line here. The team to successfully capture the target and return here wins!”
A Win in this challenge provides immunity for the entire team and the team captain will be crowned MVP. The MVP gets access to perks to use throughout the game that will be explained during elimination on Friday. Now pick your teams!
Red Team – Turok, Aloy, Duke Nukem, Orchid, Zelda, Diddy Captain is Turok!
Purple Team – Masterchief, Marcus Fenix, Jensen, Spyro, Sonya, Peppy Captain: Masterchief
“Now that you’re sorted into your teams, take a map and come up with a strategy. The time will start in 5 minutes!”
Duke:Yo, what ever happened to that overgrown turtle?
Turok: We have no time for that. We want to get a win. I picked this team because we all have experience with the wilderness. We should be able to track and catch the prey at the end quicker than any other team. Our downfall may be the puzzles themselves but I can’t imagine they will be too hard to figure out.
Kratos:I built the team around strength whether that’s physical or strength of character. I doubt this will be all scavenging and we may need to lift or perform tasks. Nemesis will be a braun, how do you feel about that sir?
Kratos:That’s the spirit. Reach for the stars everyone
Lightning: I don’t think that’s what he meant. *Peach Snickers*
Masterchief: Most of us have helped saved the world which was the basis in selecting my team. We all have the courage, the brains and the endurance to persevere and that’s exactly what is needed to win this scavenger hunt. Spyro, I want you to take lead and scout out the area around us. Any heads up on the challenges that we are to face would be invaluable.
The purple dragon didn’t speak but nodded in agreement.
Contestants are you ready… set… go!
And they’re off! Lakitu and I are tasked with following the action to bring to you. Each team had their own set of cameras following them with microphones attached.
I’m personally following the Purple Team, but I have visuals on the other contestants with my Ipad.
Spyro lunges into the air and flys ahead on his scouting mission.
Peppy:Never Give Up. Trust Your Instincts
The Purple team have some fit athletes. Jensen and Sonyan take off running, seemingly racing each other while Marcus and Masterchief follow quickly behind with their equipment clanking in the air. Oh and Peppy… Well he’s somehow keeping up.
Spyro returns before long.
Peppy:Do a barrel roll!
Ignoring his senile teammate, Spyro points in a direction off the beaten path. Maybe it’s a shortcut, but the team halts in bewilderment.
Marcus:Well don’t sit on your butts, let’s get a move on. Obviously this is the best path to the first objective or the little dragon wouldn’t point it out. Pull up your diapers and let’s go. I have no intention of losing the first challenge.
Marcus takes the lead into the swampy area with his team promptly behind him.
The Blue Team is making a run for it with Nemesis and Lightning clearing the brush ahead. Shadow, Kratos and Snake push ahed of the pack with their speed and maneuvering to make headway but it looks as though the team has gotten lost.
I take a look at my tablet to see that the first team has reached the checkpoint. The Red team captained by Turok has arrived. No doubt the team cooperated together to use their tracking skills to reach the checkpoint. The challenge is an obstacle course straight out of American Ninja Warrior where a gold key hangs at the end of the course. Zelda reads the rules. Contestants must run through a maze of challenges to reach the finish line. Once each member of the team has completed the challenge, the key can be collected and they can continue to the next checkpoint.
The first part of the course requires conpetitors to traverse a balance beam, once across there is a 10 ft wall that needs to be scaled. At the top of the wall, teams will make their way across a trapeze wire and jump into a lake. Each team must then get each team member across the water and once they do, they can retrieve the golden key. How well does each character know each other? What strengths will prevail here? With a lead on the competition will the Red Team claim the first victory?
Tune in tomorrow for the conclusion of the first Episode!
We are less than a week away from the premier of the Video Game Reality House Season 1, set to take place on Monday October 1st. After all of the interviews and video game characters looking to make a name for themselves, we have narrowed down our competitors and today, they will be revealed. As an added bonus, we have some of the interviews from characters that were rejected.
Luigi – So Mario was too busy for the show. When Luigi heard the plumber would not be able to attend, he graciously offered to take his place. The problem is that Luigi’s interview was BORING! Anything he talked about revolved around Mario and pasta. We don’t want the other contestants to fall asleep so we had to decline his interest. Don’t worry, we offered him a role on the production team instead.
Doomguy- The interview with the Doomguy was umm… interesting. He didn’t speak at all and damaged our offices in the process. During out interview Doomguy would pull out his gun and shoot at the monsters that somehow got past our security protocols. Our location is Hyrule Castle, I can’t imagine returning it to the royal family with holes in the walls.
Niko Bellic – See we had high hopes for Niko but during his interview his bad boy persona turned out to be a little much. We have the safety of the contestants to think about. It didn’t help either that after Niko’s interview a few company vehicles and electronics went missing. He’s too much of a liability to have on hand and quite frankly, he scares me. What happens if her gets eliminated.. I’m not going to be the one to tell him.
Pac Man- Probably one of the saddest rejections was for Pacman. He wasn’t invited to interview but somehow he caught wind of the show and demand an interview. Pacman is trying to revive his career and become relatable for the new generation of gamers. The problem is that Pacman really doesn’t have any abilities to help him in this contest, other than his insatiable hunger. A silver lining, we asked Pacman to come back next year with a few of his Ghost friends. That would make an interesting show.
These are the characters that will be entering the house on Monday. Tune in to read Episode 1 where our first challenge will allow the house guests to get to know each other better. Don’t forget, you will be able to participate by posting why your favorite character should advance to the next round and by voting on Twitter for the Instant Save on Wednesday Next Week! Have a great weekend!
Happy Sunday Players! Today I am posting my entry into September’s Question of the Month hosted by Kim at Later Levels! There’s still time to participate and if you want to get involved in asking a question, reach out to Kim! Click here for official rules and prompts.
You’ve been tasked with making the Ultimate Video Game, but there’s a catch – you can only piece it together from parts of other releases. You can choose separate titles for visual design, sound design, storytelling, and gameplay. What four games would you use to make the Ultimate Video Game?
Fable is a cornerstone game in my life and I think what makes Fable so interesting to me is the world building, storytelling and choices that the player makes is brilliant. Fable will be the Storytelling Design in my video game (also because I love Royalty and Period Pieces which Fable does well).
Kingdom Hearts 2 is my selection for the Sound Design and music for the game.
While I’ve never played any Kingdom Hearts games, I’ve heard a few of the songs and I love that come from the Kingdom Hearts Franchise and from watching streams on speed runs of KH, I can safely say that I would love to take music from the game and incorporate it into my Ultimate Game.
Horizon Zero Dawn
is my choice for the visuals of the game. The breathtaking scenery and color schemes would fit in seamlessly with the storytelling of Fable. In HZD, Aloy is able to hunt and journey through a great looking world. The colors used in this game would be welcomed and adapted to fit into my Ultimate Video Game.
I have to pay homage to my shooter games so Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption gets my final spot in gameplay. In RDR you play as John Marshton and journey across a semi open world similar to the Grand Theft Auto franchise. What makes the gameplay so amazing to me with Red Dead is that you can do so much in the game. You can scavenge, seek out legendary animals, play online with a band of friends or even just play mini games like shootouts to see who has the fastest trigger in the west. Instead of placing money into fancy cars, you’re trying to find or buy the fastest horse whose stamina can’t be matched. Red Dead provided variety and that variety kept me playing the game for longer than expected.
My ultimate video game will have the same variety, allowing the players to choose different tasks and work towards common goals.
So how do 4 completely different video games add up to an ultimate video game?
That’s easy, the game will be an RPG game with variety in goals, tasks and side quests that can keep gamers intrigued for the long haul. I want a game set in the Medieval Period where the Player can choose to play as a Royal, A Servant, A Merchant or A Peasant. I want to make the game truly choice driven like it is in Fable. Each role will have several pathways that they can choose like a peasant can follow a path to become a soldier or knight and a merchant can follow a path to ship goods for the royals. Each choice will affect the way the character is portrayed to the public and their appearance.
With a story with many different routes, there has to be a main plot-line. In my game, everything is leading up to the Annual Festival taking place in the Kingdom. Each storyline will have something to do with the festival. The knights will need to protect the royals, the royals will need to secure an alliance, the merchants can secure the royal contracts, etc. Playing from different angles will increase the play time and replay ability of the game.
The music will be dynamic and intriguing with each event that happens. I imagine an orchestra of sounds from melodic strings to thumping drums all the way back to the prestigious trumpets. I want discovery missions to seem whimsical and when appropriate tense to make the players heart race.
Lastly the visuals taken from HZD would fit in perfectly. The Kingdom can be in the mountains so the liberal use of brilliant color schemes in the form or green, blue, white and gray would be recommended and encourage. Scenic views of the countryside when a player is traveling to another town or kingdom for a mission would be detailed.
This is the ultimate video game that takes from games that follow similar patterns. Which video games would you use to create an Ultimate Video Game? Let’s talk video games!
Hello Umm… King Koopa. It’s nice to meet you in person.
Well of course it is Bwahahaha. Bowser Jr told me about this reality show and you can’t have a reality show without a top character like myself.
I’ve heard that before. Actually I was going to ask you to be a part of the Reality House…
Of course you were. Me and my associate here were waiting for our calls to grace your house with competition, intrigue and good looks.
Umm who is your associate?
*A purple dragon, smaller than Bowser but just as intimidating walks into the rooms with his wings at bay*
Surely you know Spyro! He’s an acquaintance of mines and very capable of being in the competition.
This is interesting. We did not have Spyro on our list of possible competitors but he looks like he will cause quite a stir.
So tell me Bowser, why would Spyro be a good fit for the show?
The giant turtle king huffs at my mundane questions.
Just look at him! Spyro is built for competition. He’s fast, agile can fly and my personal favorite he doesn’t take crap from anybody. He’s as fiery as he is strong. I’m sure your ratings will soar as high as Spyro does.
*The purple dragon bends to his hind legs, blasts smoke in the air before taking flight around the room.*
Perhaps a demonstration is in order! Bowser huffs again. He takes out round discs that have an oddly familiar appearance and tosses them in the air. Spyro circles the room and spits fire at each disc disintegrating each one which precision.
*Next Bowser gestures for myself and the crew to back up. We inch as close to the back wall as we can. What happened next was a sight for sore eyes. Bowser built up air in his lungs, huffing and puffing along before exhaling and sending 4 giant smoke rings into the air. Spyro barrel rolls through the air and clears each ring successfully before circling back and shooting fireballs in between each ring. This settles it, Spyro is in! His performance mixed with his need for mischief makes him a perfect candidate.*
You’ve convinced us Bowser, Spyro is in! Now about your interview, well we want….
Say no more. I accept your proposal and will gladly enter and win the Video Game competition. Who else can be as brutal in challenges, as intimidating in house votes and as handsome as I to become champion? Definitely not any low life plumbers I tell you that. Now our time is valuable and Spyro and I have to prepare for the competition. We will see you on October 1st!
Wait, but you don’t understand….
And they’re gone. Yes, we want Bowser in the show but he has no idea what role we have in store. Oh well, should make for great television!
That’s settled we have Bowser and Spyro entering into the Reality House. There’s 3 days left to submit your video game characters to be casted into Season 1 of the Video Game Reality Show! You can review the details and rules by clicking here!
Who would you like to see in the house? What plans do you think we have in store for Bowser? Who will turn up next? Stay tuned for more unveilings this week and make sure to catch Episode 1 on Monday October 1st!
Happy Tuesday Players! We have extended the deadline for characters to be submitted into the video Game Reality House to next Tuesday 9/25/18! This year’s competition will take place in Hyrule at Hyrule Castle! Hyrule offers plenty of space and different attributes to make sure the housemates are entertaining for the first season. If you didn’t have a chance to submit a character, the rules are simple:
Select ANY video game character that you would like to see in the reality house
Link back to this post and post your response in the comments so that we can read your entry
Tune in on September 26th to see the full reveal of all characters in the house for Season 1
That’s it! We already have a few great entries which you can read below
Tomorrow the competition really HEATS up when our next contestant is revealed. Let’s just say that him and his new found friend both have fiery tempers!
Not able to participate? No problem, Season 1 will start on Monday October 1st with our very first episode. We will also post teasers and have a live vote on Twitter each week to save characters up for elimination. For full details on the event, click here!
We are still casting for the Video Game Reality House and the deadline to submit characters for the house has been extended until 9/25/18! You can view the rules and premise of the house by clicking here! Today’s post will be an interview with a contestant that did not want to be named before the start of the competition. The contestant has used a voice changer but there are a few hints as to their identity. If you know who this contestant is, lets us know in the comments!
Everything is quite adequate. Thank you.
So what’s with all of the secrecy? Your identity will be revealed sooner or later, why try to conceal it at this time?
There are other factors working against me aganon… I have to make sure the passage to the house is clear before I can reveal my identity.
Are you having trouble with the IRS? I have a guy for that.
Nothing of the sort. This Reality World is quite fascinating but to be free and explore it I have to often walk in disguise. Many would wave me off as a common Ninja or shady character.
What is it?
I can’t imagine how anyone can walk past you without a second glance. You’re a magnificent creature.
I appreciate the compliment.
I’m sure you receive them often when you’re not playing dress up. So if you are concerned about your freedom, why do you want to join the reality house?
It’s a brilliant social experiment is it not? Also, my friend and protector hath informed me that a rival may be afoot at this house. With our varying responsibilities, it would be nice to make the acquaintance of someone from a similar background. You can’t imagine how many people both pixel and 3D assume to know my life. How many times I’ve been spoken for and my destiny being preplanned.
Like an arranged marriage?
Luckily my parents haven’t gone that far, though many of my activities and wishes are often ignored.
I see. So you want to be normal than? I can tell you, here a reality show is far from normal. Many of your flaws and indiscretions will be revealed on National TV for all to see. If it is normalcy you seek, you may want to try going to a garden or something completely different.
I don’t seek a normal life. I see a life of adventure and wonder like I would read about in letters from my protector. He tells me of his adventures and challenges when protecting our homeland. He writes to me descriptions of the people he has met and the lands he has seen. I thirst for just one of his adventures. To experience them myself, with my own flesh and blood. Not behind a cloak or mask.
Well you definitely seem interesting enough. What are your skills? Will you be able to compete in the grueling competitions each week?
Oh, that was a neat magic trick
I am more than capable. In your world you would fancy me a wizard or sorcerer. I’m able to transform and use my magic at great length. I am also agile and have trained in the art of combat. I’m sure I will be fine.
Is that so your highness… I mean your? Your? What should we call you for now?
I’ve been known by many names, but for my safety and yours, better call me Sheik.
Ok Sheik. Thank you for interviewing with us a-ganon. I’m not supposed to do this, but I want to offer you a spot in the reality house.
The bottom line is that you can’t possibly have a reality show without a beautiful Princess to gather the affections of the guys.
You can’t have a show without me *smooches*
The Princess definitely knows how to turn on the charm to get what she so desires. I have to admit, when the short mushroom looking agent requested an audience, I knew we struck gold. Not because of her charm or cuteness… but because of how unhinged she really is…
So princess, what have you been up to now that you are outside of the video game world?
I haven’t struggled a bit. This “reality” world has been very accepting of me. I currently have a huge Loft in New York with summer homes in the Hamptons and Miami. I’m looking at property in California as well. I’m invited to all of the fashion shows and galas across the world which keeps me very busy. Poor Toad has a hard time planning out my weeks.
So you’re a Socialite?
A party is considered dull affair if you do not have A List celebrities and I’m as A List as it gets.
What about Mario?
What about him? This interview is for the Video Game Reality House is it not? Is Mario going to be there?
I can’t reveal who will be in the house, but rest assured that everyone will go through the same interview process. I take it you 2 are not on speaking terms?
If Mario ever has anything interesting to say, I would gladly oblige an audience with him. Seeing as his vocabulary is full of “It’s a meee or Mama miaaaa” I doubt we will be speaking outside of traditional pleasantries.
I’m sure our readers would love to dive more into your personal life. How is your cousin Daisy?
She’s fine. Last time we spoke Daisy was jet setting the world helping out people in need and going on safaris. I have Toad draft a letter to my cousin once a month to keep up appearances.
So you’re estranged from her too then?
I wouldn’t call it estranged. There’s so many distractions in this world that it’s easy to get sidetracked. We all have taken different paths and at the moment, our interests do not align is all. So tell me more about this competition? Toad only provided a few details and said a winner would be crowned which would naturally be yours truly.
Well we have decided to catch up with video game characters and the best way to do so is to lock—
I mean place select characters into a house filled with competition. It’s called a reality show in this world. Each week you will compete for advantages and there will be an elimination at the end of the week. The last character standing will be crowned the Video Game Champion and receive a trophy along with additional perks.
I see. I accept your invitation to be the Star of the show and enter the house.
Well, your highness I didn’t offer…
I will have Toad fax over my requests for the house. I have certain products that I need to have with me at all time and I will do you the favor of promoting this show on my Instagram feed. You will have 4.5 million followers viewing the activities at the house. You’re welcome.
That’s fine but there’s a selection…
Look at the time. I have a meeting with a fashion designer. We are creating a new line for my Pretty In Pink collection coming out next Spring. I have to go. Don’t forget to fax over the agreement contract to my agent.
Wait but we didn’t…
Smooches darling oh and since I’m the star I expect to have the priority reveal. Toodles!
Well… I guess we have our first contestant. Even if I didn’t formally offer her the spot.
How do you think Princess Peach will fair in the Video Game Reality House? What other characters would you like to see in the house and why? Tune in later this week for the 2nd character entering the house!
Happy Monday Players! The GamersUnitedGG Community Event is taking shape and as we wait for the casting to be completed, we have secured the location for Season 1 of the Video game Reality Show! Remember, you can participate by creating a blog post on why your character should be selected for the competition and placing the link to your post in the comments. Our Producers will be voting on which characters to place in the house and compete for Best Video Game Champion! See Official Rules by clicking here.
Today we are revealing where are contestants will stay and take place in the competition. Drum Roll Please……
The Producers and I have secured HYRULE CASTLE as the house that will be featured in the Video Game Reality Show!
Hyrule offers a comfortable living area for the characters to eat and sleep. The massive size of the castle offers secret passages and secluded areas for the housemates to use. There’s also plenty of room outside for challenges and portals that can be used to dimension hop.
What about the Royal Family?
The Royal Family has graciously decided to take a trip and offer up their full hospitality for our contestants.
Producer Pix took on the task of exploring the land and provided great photos of the Castle.
With the location of the show finalized we will start revealing the characters participating in this season of the Video Game Reality Show! Tomorrow our first character will be revealed and the details of their interview will be posted here. Make sure to submit your post as to why your video game character should be cast in our reality show.
Happy Friday Players! GamersUnitedGG will be launching our 2nd Community Event on October 1st.
We are starting a Video Game Reality House and the interview process for the characters to be accepted is brutal. You can help us narrow down the characters that will be admitted into Season 1. To participate, post a blog response with the video game character you would like to see in the house and your reasons why they would win! You can link your responses in the comments so that our Producers can review and vote. The final cast will be revealed between now and Episode 1’s start date of October 1st so post your responses by September 17th!
Additional details on the event and other ways to participate will be unveiled over the coming month on the blog and Twitter.
What is the Video Game Reality House?
Contestants will be placed in a house where the goal is to be crowned the Video Game Champion. Like many Reality Shows, the characters will have to survive the social and physical games to make it to the Final Boss Battle. Contestants will compete in video game related challenges where a MVP will be crowned. The MVP will have immunity for the week and gain privileges to help further their position in the game. At the end of each week, characters will be nominated for elimination and 1 or more characters will run out of lives.
How you can participate:
The community will be able to try and save their favorite characters via the Twitter Instant Save Vote or by writing a Confessional Post on the Wednesday before the elimination. The Confessional Posts will be your way to champion for your character as to why they shouldn’t be eliminated and add to the excitement of the Reality Show by revealing secrets the character may have witnessed during the week.
Confessional: Snake from Metal Gear Solid
After the challenge today we all gathered back at the house for a barbecue. Everyone was off in their cliques talking strategy and preparing for the elimination vote and I was doing my own thing…
hanging out in boxes you know. I overheard 2 Players scheming on a member of their alliance. They’re planning to get the other Players in the House to vote for their buddy in the coming elimination. This is why I prefer to stay close to my box… you can’t trust anyone. Who were the 2 culprits you say? You’d never believe me if I told you…
The Confessionals can be used to save your character, throw others under the bus and cause more drama for the eliminations and episodes. Nothing is off limits in the confessionals.
The Twitter Instant Save Vote will be posted on The GamersUnitedGG Twitter from Tuesday until Thursday as a Pinned Message. You can vote to instantly save a character from being eliminated.
Both the Confessional Posts and Twitter Instant Saves will be taken into account during the eliminations each Friday.
Now we start the selection process for the video game characters that should be placed in the house for Season 1. 16 Characters in total will be chosen for this first season. You can nominate 1 or multiple characters up until September 17th. Tune into the blog and Twitter to see which Characters have been selected! Well, what are you waiting for? Post to your blog which video game characters would be great additions to the Video Game Reality Show and don’t forget to link your responses in the comments so that we can see who you are nominating.
I’m super excited for this event and hopefully this can turn into a multi-season community event! Have Fun!
