Day 2: Which Video Game World Would You Live In & Why?

Runner-Up

supermario64

Immediately the Mushroom Kingdom popped into my mind, specifically the Kingdom featured in Super Mario 64! I’ve already gushed on again and again about how revolutionary Mario 64 was for video games but talking more about the aesthetics, Peach’s castle and the different realms that you can travel to using a picture was AMAZINGGGG! I just realized that Mario also started using less and fewer warp pipes in this installment of the franchise, which is fine. I prefer the slides, the jumping through paintings and finding secret rooms in the castle method. Not only were the colors absolutely stunning in Mario 64, but there was so much to do and so much fun to have to visit Chomp, Thwomp or Penguin racing!

Honorable Mention:

pokemonGym

The world of Pokemon, specifically Kanto and Johto Regions. I know I’m not the only one that wished I lived in the world of Pokemon. Imagin being able to catch and train Pokemon, participate in Gym Battles, Festivals and other competitions to show off your friends. I imagine having Pokemon will do wonders for self-esteem and people who often feel lonely as your Pokemon will never leave you. If I could live in the Pokemon world, I would want to be a Pokemon Coordinator like Dawn was. I’d want to showcase the Pokemon and their best attributes in a contest rather than have them battle it out in an arena.

Winner:

Albion

I’m a big Fable fan and the world of Albion is where I would like to live. Albion takes into account all of the current fads that I’m into royalty, magic and a simple life. In Albion, I could be a Royal Princess with 2 magic gauntlets that fuses my abilities. I could go into the City of Bowerstone buy merchandise, make pies and kick chickens! I could be a blacksmith, make potions or just run around helping people in need. A life in the world of Fable has been intriguing to me which is why I’ve played each game in the franchise and spent countless hours making choices to help save or destroy the world. Breathtaking views, a sense of duty and a place where Heroes are made, I would choose to live in the world of Fable and Albion any day!

Tomorrow’s Question:

Who is Your Favorite Video Game Sidekick?

Which video game world would you live in? would you choose any of the worlds that I have listed?  Let’s talk video game worlds!

Video Game 30 Day Challenge: Day 1- Gaming Heroes!

Happy Friday Players! Today is June 1st and the start of the GamersUnitedGG 30 Day Video Game Challenge! I’m super excited to answer the questions that I came up with and read the responses of anyone who wants to participate. You can join us and read the official rules by clicking here! Power up Players for Day 1 of the 30 Day Video Game challenge!

Day 1: Who is your childhood Video Game Hero?

My video game hero is Nancy Neil from Snowboard Kids and Snowboard Kids 2!

nancy1

Snowboard Kids is a snowboard racing game that debuted on Nintendo 64, where you select your character, costume and race through really cool maps. I’ve never been the best at speed, but I have always loved performing in the trick portion of the game. Nancy was always my choice and upon reading the Snowboard Kids Story, she became a character that I could relate too. While Nancy was really skilled at tricks, she was always the nice mediator of the group that everyone loved. Nancy was friends with one of the meanest characters in the game, a snob name Linda, but she was there to orchestrate and attend Linda’s birthday party.

nancy

Snowboard Kids 2 was the very first game that was mine entirely (and not for me AND my brother) which holds a special place in my heart.  In Snowboard kids 2, an alien, evil child known as Damien appears. The kids have to race Damien in the story and while he is the antagonist, Nancy tries to extend the olive branch and invite Damien to the group. She’s such a great character and I have looked up to her for her tricks, personality and all that Nancy represents. To sum up her personality Nancy is fun, genuine and friendly, traits that I think my friends would now describe me as. Thank you Snowboard Kids and Snowboard Kids 2 for having such a positive impact!

There’s a more teenage version of Snowboards Kids called SBK where Nancy is completely the opposite. She is spoiled, stuck up and conceited. I’m super happy that I grew up admiring the 10 year old Nancy!

Tomorrow’s Question:

Which Video Game World Would You Like To Live In? Why?

Who’s your childhood video game hero? Have you ever played Snowboard Kids? Let’s talk Heroes!

Luna’s Rankings: Favorite Overwatch Characters!

Happy Tuesday! It’s been 2 months of a break from blogging but I am getting back into the swing of things. If you recall, Tuesdays are the Rankings day for GamersUnitedGG. The Rankings posts are where I will provide my favorites in ascending order from 5th place to 1st providing my personal reasons for the rankings. This is a community discussion section so feel free to rank your favorites in the comments below and the following week I will tally the Community votes to provide a Community Ranking. Power up Players and welcome to Luna’s Rankings!

Today we are Ranking: Our Favorite Overwatch Characters!

#5- Pharah

pharah

Pharah is an offensive character and the very first character that I tried when playing Overwatch. Pharah has boosters and a rocket which is all I needed to get hooked. I love being able to hover in the air, boost jump behind someone and fire my rockets. Pharah is such a fun character to play and when she uses her ultimate “Justice Rains From Above!” I’m not good with Pharah but I don’t care, she’s soooo fun to play with lol

#4 – Moira –

moira

Moira is a support character that provides heals and damage. What I like about Moira is that she reminds me of Hel from Smite. She has her hearing and damage state which is fun to play with. When I need to be a healer, I like selecting Moira because I can also through damage orbs at the enemy team to assist in the battle. Moira also has a crazy powerful ultimate where she shoots a hyper beam that damages enemies and heals allies. Moira is really fun and I don’t feel completely useless as a healer (in damage and attack that is lol)

#3- Sombra –

sombra

Sombra is a fairly interesting character and she is classified as an Offensive hero. I started using Sombra in a custom match with friends where I was testing out different characters. Sombra is super cool and her hacking abilities can come in handy when you have annoying characters like Junkrat or Reinhardt. Her hack takes away options for the character hit and they can only use their basic attacks. A well timed hack can change the game for sure! Sombra’s other abilities are her invisibility and pistol. Not to mention a group hack Ultimate!

#2 Junkrat

junkrat

Point blank period, Junkrat is fun! He’s fairly easy to use so I do recommend him to beginners. His basic attack is a noob tube (hahah Call of Duty lingo) which is a grenade launcher. He also has a bear trap, mines and a Rip Tire that you can control as his Ultimate. Junkrat is fun to play with and 90% of the games will have at least 1 junkrat somewhere. Plus, I have a special place in my heart for villains and Junkrat is definitely a villain or at least an evil scientist with his demented laughs! Oh yeah, Junkrat is a Defensive Hero!

#1 – Orisa –

Orisa

This selection is a surprise to me because Orisa is a Tank Hero and I’ve never really played with a tank in any game. She’s not a full tank character but Orisa has shields to protect the team, a gravitron ray and her Ultimate is the supercharger that buffs damage for your team. Throw down a shield and plop that Supercharger behind it for the best effect. Orisa is easily my favorite character and she is my most useful. I perform best as Orisa and being able to shield my teammates, lay down suppressing fire, use the Gravitron Ray(not sure of its real name lol) to throw enemies off balance or pull them back when they try to take cover and buff my teams damage is the perfect role for me. I still don’t fancy myself a Tank kind of girl, but in the case of Orisa, I’m her number 1 fan!

Those are my rankings for my favorite Overwatch Heroes, what are yours? Feel free to respond with your favorite characters in the comments and I will be sure to update the community Rankings on next Tuesday’s post! Are you currently playing Overwatch? Let’s talk Heroes!

-Luna 🙂

Luna’s Rankings: Favorite Superheroes!

Happy Tuesday Novas and thank you for reading today’s Rankings Post! The Marvel Universe has been on fire lately with their box office hits and upcoming triumphs over the DC Universe. On Tuesdays I like to rank items from 5th until 1st on different topics and since Black Panther is releasing on DVD and Blu Ray today, I want to rank my favorite Superheroes  from 5th until 1st place!

#5 Thor –

Thor

Thor makes an appearance on my list because he’s flipping amazing. I love that he uses his hammer in combat. The hammer is versatile and allows him to fly, go super fast and pretty much knock out his enemies. Thor is a god and his full strength of lightning makes him super cool and worthy of the number 5 spot on my list. Thor Ragnarok is my favorite Thor movie to date. Read the review here!

#4 Black Widow –

black widow

Black Widow has always been a super cool character to me. I love a story about a hero who didn’t always start off saving the world. She has a very checkered past but she has decided to use her skills in a more helpful way which is awesome. Plus, she’s played by Scarlett Johansson in the Avenger movies, what more can you ask.

#3 Wonder Woman –

wonder woman

Before the Wonder Woman movie came out I would have not listed her as one of my top 5 favorite superheroes. Learning her story and delving more into her world has opened my eyes to the character. She’s strong, courageous and willing to follow her heart to help anyone in need. That’s the king of superhero we need!

#2 Black Panther –

null

Black Panther is another hero that was off my radar until the movie hit theaters in February. What I love about T’Challa is that he is a king that wants to help his people survive. He also embraces other cultures and wants to help fight to protect all people. His suit is cool, his movements are great and he has a great supporting cast of characters. You can check out the Spoiler Free Review of Black Panther here!

#1 Ironman –

ironman

Ironman has been my favorite superhero for as long as I remember. I love that his character is entirely plausible (you know, if you were a billionaire)/. Ok let’s be honest, most of the list (all of this list lol) is based on the portrayals in Hollywood. Tony Stark as portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. Is a sarcastic, witty and intelligent character that I love watching. I’m not a Superman girl, not a Batman girl but Ironman is my man. Wonder what would happen if Batman met Ironman, check out their TKO Battle by clicking here!

Those are my top 5 superheroes, what are yours? Which Superhero movies are you looking forward to? Let’s talk heroes!

Shoppe Keep 2: First Impressions!

Happy Friday gamers and friends! It’s been awhile since I have posted a First Impressions game review so if you are new around here or need a refresher, here’s how these posts work! My First Impressions post is an overview of a new video game that I have started playing. I will provide my thoughts and hopes for the game after about a week of gameplay. Power Up Players for a First Impressions Video Game Review!

Title: Shoppe Keep 2

Developer: Strange Fire

Publisher: Excalibur Gamers

Release Date: May 3rd, 2018

Platforms: PC

Price: $12.99

Shoppe Keep 2 is a game where you are running a Medieval Shop and selling items to the townspeople. This game is currently in Early Access and surprisingly wayyyy more than a shopkeeper price gouging lol. In Shoppe Keep 2 you can receive quests from different townspeople and in return, they will allow you access to crafting or cooking goods to sell in your shop.

20180506214004_1

Quests:

20180506012332_1

Quests are a huge part of the game. You can unlock different items to purchase from the vendors in town. When you complete the required quests, your rewards are delivered instantly. Quests will require you to explore and collect items for the vendor or to hunt for specific items (as most animals encountered will have the chance of dropping 3 different items).

Realistic Features: I love the inclusions of realistic features such as shoplifters if you leave your store unattended and the taxes that must be paid to the town. That’s right, you can’t just sell your items and get rich! The more money you make off of patrons, the more you have to pay to the bank for taxes. Fear not, these taxes are not paid in vain, learn more on the Putting Your Money to Work section.

Running A Shop:

20180506011100_1

You have complete Customization over your shop. You can choose different tables, pedestals and furniture in which to display items for your patrons. What’s great about the shop is that you can open and close it to customers at your leisure.

Putting Your Money To Work: A great feature of this game is using the taxes to upgrade the town. When you upgrade something in the town such as the Cook’s Shop or the Alchemist, the entire town upgrades as well. For example, we started in a town with dirt roads and wood buildings, after upgrading the Alchemist, the town now has decorations, a stone path and a giant statue.

Multiplayer:

20180506015431_1

You can play solo or play multiplayer where shop keepers will be working together. When playing in multiplayer, you will have joint money with the other pkayers in the game and you can run the shop. What’s cool is that you can send others to complete quests and go hunting while another person keeps the shop running.

Final Thoughts: The games has a few bugs and glitches but they have been getting fixed quickly over the past few days. I’m also finding that the developers are adding features and different places to to game each time I log in. This is a great multiplayer game to play with friends and a good way to pass the time if you are playing alone. My original thought was that the replayability is going to be low on the game, but with the new additions, quests and town upgrades I can see this game having great potential after the Early Access.

I give Shoppe Keep 2 3.5 out of 5 Power Ups!

What do you think of the game? Have you played Shoppe Keep 2? What games are you currently playing? Do you recommend any games for me to play? Let’s talk video games and first impressions!

WWE May Slamcrate: The Grandest Stage Unboxing!

Happy Friday Superstars! Thank you for tuning into this month’s WWE Slamcrate unboxing, featuring the theme: The Grandest Stage! In the last unboxing I mentioned that this crate would feature WWE SuperStars like Seth Rollins, Stone Cold Steve Austin and AJ Styles! Let’s see what we received in this Wrestlemania themed Crate (that actually came ino time this month lol)!

What I love about the Slam Crates is that you always received some notable items. The real value in the crates are the high quality T-shirts and figures. This month’s T featured my favorite wrestler of all time…AND THAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE!

20180503_101156.jpg
Because Stone Cold Said So!

I have already worn my Stone Cold T and I’m happy to add him to my collection of WWE shirts. Great job Lootcrate!

I give the shirt an A+ ranking!

To go along with apparel, we received the Phenomenal AJ Styles Socks! Not too shabby if I don’t say so myself lol. 20180503_101251.jpg I will probably keep these packaged for awhile until I visit my next Live WWE event. Then, I’m sure to break them out with the rest of my WWE attire.

I give the socks a B+ ranking!

Since we are still dressing, the next item received is this awesome Universal Title Fanny Pack!  20180503_101303.jpg If you remember last year’s unboxing (click here to view), we received the WWE World Title Fanny Pack and I used it during Wrestlemania. I remember being at the WWE Fan event and EVERYONE stopping me to ask where I bought the fanny pack. I was sad to tell them, that it was the Slamcrate, you couldn’t purchase one haha. I know the Slamcrate creatives tried to mask the high demand for these by creating the Universal title counterpart, but the novelty has already wore off for me.

I give the title a C+ Ranking!

My figure! This series of 4 WWE Superstars is named Statement Makers! We started with Sasha Banks, the Finn Balor and now my husband Seth Rollins takes his place on my display shelf.

There are 3 variations of the figure, so I’m super happy that I have received the gray and black version.

This one’s easy, I give the figure an A+++++++++++ Ranking lol.

Lastly we have the collectible pins. In the WWE Slamcrates, the pins have been titles in the WWE.  20180503_101310.jpg The new Tag titles are the star of this box and makes the final item in my crate. The Tag Titles are dope and I’m happy to add it to my collection.

I give the pin a B Ranking!

20180503_101406.jpg

That’s this month’s crate! I can say that the number of items have seemed to dwindle down from the beginning, but we are receiving better quality items. This is not my favorite crate, but it was pretty decent and still worth the price just by the shirt and figure alone. Next month’s crate will feature the Braun Strowman figure that will complete my 2nd set of WWE Superstars! If you want to try this or any other lootcrates, click the link below to use my looter code for a discount!

Do you receive any subscription crates? what’s your favorite item in my crate this month? Let’s talk Subscriptions and WWE!

You Should Try…. Chopped & Big Little Lies!

Happy Monday Novas! Thank you for reading today’s blog post which will focus on those tv shows that friends have recommended to you. A quick update with me…. My birthday was Thursday April 26th so I took a 12 day vacation from work. During my relaxing staycation, my friends recommended tv shows to me and I was able to catch up and binge watch a few days of my vacation. Here are my 2 recommends from Friends!

Featuring: Chopped & Big Little Lies!

Chopped is recommended by my co-worker that knows I love watching cooking competitions. I watch Top Chef and Master Chef in particular and was recommended Chopped for the first time. I’m not sure why I was never drawn to this show before, but I’m glad that I gave it a chance.

chopped

Premise: 4 Chefs compete in 3 rounds to crown a winner of Chopped and $10,000. Each episode is an hour and has a different theme. Based on the theme of the show, the chefs will have to prepare a dish using ALL of the mystery box ingredients. Each round has a time limit and the worse dish is CHOPPED while the others move on. Normally the rounds are Appetizer, Entree and Dessert.

Mystery Boxes – The mystery boxes are what makes Chopped an addicting show. 3 out of the 4 mystery items will be somewhat normal, while the final ingredient is usually something off the wall or not well known. Mystery box

Ranking: I’m really enjoying chopped and I would give it a B and high recommend to binge watchers that loveeee cooking shows.

big little lies

The 2nd show recommended to me is Big Little Lies on HBO by my friend Erick. I have wanted to watch this show since seeing previews for it last year, but never got around to it. Hulu offered me HBO Now at a great rate of $4.99 a month for 6 months, so I signed up and binge watched the show Saturday Night.

Premise: Big Little Lies follows the lives of mothers in the town of Monterey California. The cast follows Madeline, the Rich, Popular Mom, Jane the new single mom in town, Celeste, the Beautiful hot shot ex-lawyer, Renata the Corporate mom and Bonnie the relaxed organix moms and they’re lives in Monterey. The series begins at a fundraiser where there has just been a murder. Witnesses answer questions to the investigators but you do not know who was murdered until the finale.

bll

Secrets: The best thing about Big Little Lies is that everyone is hiding something in theirs lives. These secrets threaten to tear their families and friends apart, but appearances must be kept. I even love that the secret of the person murdered is not revealed until the finale. The 7, 1 hour episodes recall the events leading up until the fundraiser where all is revealed.

Ranking : I give Big Little Lies a B+. They were renewed for a 2nd season but it will not be released until 2019 :(.

Those are my 2 currently recommends. Are you currently watching any shows recommended by friends? Do you have any tv show recommends for me to try? Which shows are you currently Binge Watching? Let’s talk shows!

Marvel Avengers: Infinity War Spoiler Free Review!

Happy Sunday Novas! This past weekend the Marvel Avengers: Infinity War movie released in theaters. Today I will provide my spoiler free review of the movie! This movie was great and to stay away from spoilers, I will provide a brief overview of the movie.

Plot: Infinity War brings together the Marvel characters and their independent movies over the last few years. The characters are brought together by an impending threat who goes by the name of Thanos. Thanos is searching for the Infinity Stones in the Universe to be able to bring balance by genocide. 2 of the Infinity Stones rest with our heroes of Doctor Strange and Vision, so naturally, Thanos and his tyranny come back to Earth.

Thanos

Consistency was something that I was worried about in the movie. When you are melding so many storylines together, you can easily miss a few pieces. I was pleased that Infinity War (from what I have seen of the preceding movies) matched up the characters, locations and state of being of each hero to a T.

Visuals & Sounds – The cinematic quality of the movie was pretty good. If there is one critique, the giant Iron Man suit with it’s pilot looked a bit weird in a few scenes. Each location of our heroes, is given the breathtaking quality that it received in the independant film.

iw

Characters: We catch up with all of our favorite Marvel Characters: Captain America, Ironman, The Hulk, Thor, Loki, Black Widow, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Starlord and more are united in Infinity War. We are even graced with the side characters that we love like Suri and Rocket! Each character provided their distinct personalities and upon meeting new heroes, we receive more banter that pushes the movie forward. One of my favorite interactions is between Tony Stark and Doctor Strange!

Action: Marvel movies are known for cool action and battle scenes. With Infinity War, since there are so many main players in the movie, there’s constant action or conflict throughout the movie. Ever scene felt important so my recommendation is to make sure to empty your bladder before sitting down to this 2 hour and 30 minute masterpiece. The integration of the different battle styles from each character makes for an innovative new movie.

Final Thoughts: I have really enjoyed the Marvel Avengers: Infinity War movie. The plot was good, it’s another one of those plots that causes you to think about WHY the villain is doing what they are doing. All of the characters were used properly and the story made sense. Don’t forget to watch the ending credits and be prepared to be SHOOK throughout the movie.

Have you watched Infinity War? Who’s your favorite Marvel Character? Let’s talk Infinity War!

Pokemon Update Week 5 Mareep Event!

Happy Saturday Players! Thanks for reading this week’s Pokemon Go update post! This past Sunday was my 2nd experience with the Community Event. This month’s featured Pokemon was Mareep and if you evolved your Flaffy into an Ampharos during the 3 hour window, you would receive the special move Dragon Pulse!

Event: I was super happy when I actually completed the event this time! I have a lovely Ampharos with the special move (evolved literally 5 minutes before the event closed lol). Lucky for me, I had plenty of Pineap Berries which gave a boost in the candies that you would receive from the Mareep’s caught. Ampharos was able to successfully defend a gym at Barnett Park this week. I have received 50 Poke Coins (Max amount) from that defense.

Gym Progress: I was only able to fight and defend one gym this week at Barnett Park. I look to fight in raids and beat other gyms this weekend for my quest progress.

New Pokemon: While I wasn’t that active outside of the Mareep event this week, I was able to catch some new Pokemon due to the Kanto Region influx. For about a week, more Kanto Region (original 150) Pokemon were popping up everywhere.

  • New Kanto Region Pokemon- Drowzee, Magnemite, Sandshrew, Machop, Shellder
  • Hatched Pokemon- 0 Pokemon were hatched this week
  • Evolved Pokemon – Screenshot_2018-04-15-16-45-53.pngI evolved Mareep into Flaafy and Flaafy into Ampharos!
  • Best Catch- Solrock and Seviper in the parking lot at work!
  • Highest CP – Ampharos! Screenshot_2018-04-15-16-53-53.png

Reserch Quests:

  1. I have 4 out of 6 stamps completed
  2. I’m on A Mythical Discovery 3/8 which I plan to complete today

The next Community Event is Charmander and will take place on May 19th! Becuase this event will be on a Saturday, I will be able to participate for the entire 3 hours! How’s your Pokemon Go experience going? Did you paticipate in any of the community events? What’s your best catch this week? Let’s talk Pokemon Go!
