Welcome to week 2 of the Gamers House! Last week the game was over for Orchid Leaving 18 contestants in the running for the Best Video Game Character trophy. In a twist, the votes casted by each contestant was revealed. How will Diddy Kong and Nemesis deal with knowing exactly who tried to vote them off? We will find out this week on Gamers House!
My name is Luna and I have been following the contestants around all weekend. Many of the characters that voted for Nemesis have steered clear of the giant as not to anger him. Diddy Kong has changed his initial social game and now sticks with his original Red Team members, with the exception of Spyro.
**Cue The Host**
“Oh, Hi again Contestants! That was a great opening week and we are happy to see you all in good spirits. As you may know, I am a Pokemon Research Professor and one of my favorite past times is to set up trainers with companions to help them on their journey. These companions will aid the trainer and get them out of sticky situations should a wild encounter with a Pokemon arise. For this week’s challenge, you too will be teaming up with a companion to help you through the task.”
The housemates seem to be upright listening to the Professor Speak.
Duke: Well get to it you quack. What is the challenge this week and when do I get to pound someone’s face in?
Prof Oak: “That’s a great question. There will be no punching this week, but the challenge will be our version of a TRIATHLON! Contestants will be given Chaos to help complete the tasks. What are these tasks? We will test your skills in Climbing, Riding and Archery. Each round will award points and the contestant with the most points at the end of all 3 tasks will be a winner. Don’t worry, if there is a tie, we do have a tiebreaker in mind.
Climbing – We have built an obstacle course that will test your climbing abilities through
Riding– Contestants will hop on a mount and ride through a course collecting as many rings as they can.
Archery – Using an elemental bow, you must shoot the different targets on the field as quickly as possible. Points are awarded by position of the arrow and the number of targets shot.
Masterchief! As MVP from last week you have the advantage of choosing the companion for each contestant AND since this challenge will be competed head to head, you can choose the match ups and the order in which each contestant will compete. Please have you decision ready by tomorrow morning.
Have a good night’s rest competitors, tomorrow will be a doozie.
Masterchief has chosen today’s lineup and order for the challenge. It is as follows:
- Princess Peach vs Zelda
- Bowser vs Nemesis
- Spyro vs Shadow
- Jensen vs Snake
- Kratos vs Marcus Fenix
- Duke Nukem – Sonya Blade
- Diddy Kong vs Peppy
- Masterchief vs Turok
- Lightning vs Aloy
The first matchup will be the battle of the Princesses. Peach will take on Zelda and both will have a Chao as their companion. You have minutes to strategize and your heat will begin.
Each companion will have a downfall that comes with their help. Not only do the competitors need to gain the most points, but they have to keep their companion in check. The Chao is by far the easier of the companions and only require constant attention. Which Princess will use their Chao correctly?
Peach and Zelda were neck in neck climbing over the various obstacles however, Zelda pulled ahead right at the end. Peach had to tend to her Chao who is seemingly afraid of heights and wouldn’t move at one point. When Zelda was climbing she held her Chao in a sling that was pressed against her chest. It shielded the Chao from looking down. During the riding phase Zelda took an early lead but Peach pulled off some impressive jumps over the hurdles. Peach held her Chao on her lap while Zelda placed the Chao bare skinned on the horse. After a few bumps her Chao was screaming and squirming to get off. She missed the next 2 jumps. In the final challenge Peach beamed most of her opponents with direct hits. Guess all that time in Mario Party Paid off. Zelda was impressive shooting each of her targets quickly and using the Chao to hand her the arrows to reload quickly.
Bowser vs Nemesis had to be the most intense match of the night. Both competitors have tempers and they were letting them flare on the course. During the climbing phase both contestants growled and snarled at each other. Nemesis was so distracted by Bowser that he hit his head on the top of the cliff. During the riding challenge both mounts stumbled over and the contestants had to finish on foot. Nemesis had the advantage here with his athletic abilities surpassing that of Bowser. In Archery many of the targets were missed because each contestant fired at the other. Both ended the triathlon with arrows stuck on their person. The oddest part of the match. Both contestants forgot to bring their Chao and had to do it all over again!
This heat was an interesting one. Both Spyro and Shadow used their strengths to their advantage. During the climbing phase, Shadow was the first to the top by a few seconds. The riding phase was contested heavily by Spyro who used his wings to temper and steady his mount. The archery phase seemed evenly matched between the 2. Both handled their Chaos perfectly.
Jensen vs Snake was a very evenly matched heat. During climbing the backgrounds of both competitors came through with each posting the fastest time of all of the heats so far. During the rding phase, Jensen seemed more equipped to handle his mount and edged a lead. During archery Jensen pulled out another impressive performance, must not have been his first time.
Kratos and Marcus is the match that the other contestants are watching closely. Both are leaders in their own right and both contestants have a tough exterior. Marcus was surprisingly overpowered on the climbing, but what else can you expect from a demigod. Kratos easily scaled the big mountain while using his companion to toss rocks at the persistent Fenix. During the riding challenge Marcus fought hard but was still out done by the Olympian. Archery is where the former Gear pulled his act together and rivaled Kratos with his fast reaction times and keen accuracy.
Marcus: Compliments of the Torque Bow!
Duke Nukem seemed like an odd match-up until Sonya took off up the mountain. Her training attire had the bad boy of doom seemingly hypnotized and she was able to scale the mountain minutes before Duke. Aware of her advantages, Sonya seemed to lean a bit more forward during her horse riding. Sensing he was losing, Duke snapped out of it and wrestled with his horse to put up a fast and clean time. During archery, Duke was focused on one thing… winning. He quickly shot at the targets taking off a head here, an arm there. He was putting on a clinic… yet Sonya came out swinging as well. Without hesitation she reloaded her bow and hit the targets just above center.
The oddest heat of the day was between Peppy and Diddy. Peppy shouted out nonsense for 5 minutes at the start of the climb that had Diddy scratching his head. Coincidence or ingenious plan. As expected Diddy ascended to the top of the mountain before Peppy could get 5 feet off of the ground. Diddy posted the fastest time of the night, even with the slow start. During the riding competition the clumsy Peppy wobbled back and forth on his mount and even rode backwards. Diddy was too distracted by Peppy’s antics to see the last hurdle that was clipped and fell to the floor. With the penalty, somehow Peppy pulled out the win. During archery the old rabbit must have remembered days in his youth among the starcraft because he was talking to Starfox the entire time. Diddy tried his best to keep up but this event in accuracy and shooting was the rabbits forte’. He knew the course front and back and sinked arrows consistently in the heart of each target.
Our MVP Masterchief took on former captain of the red team Turok. Both contestants battled hard on the climbing phase but without the use of zero gravity Chief could not keep up with Turok. During the riding phase both contestants decided to sit their Chaos on their laps while completing the hurdles. Both did so with grace and skill but Turok came out on top again. In the final archery Challenge we expected Chief to win, but Turok’s experience excelled and he took the match 3-0.
Lightning vs Aloy was the last match of the night and boy did they put on a show. Both ladies excelled at the climbing challenge matching grit for grit. On the riding challenge Aloy took the lead but Lightning caught up when she directed her Chao to throw mud at her opponent. In Archery Aloy was the victor. Lightning was right behind her with 3 pts separating them.
The Winner of this week’s challenge is….
Turok used his known survival skills to totally crush the challenge. He didn’t put up the fastest time in the challenge but he was perfect in archery and had the fastest time on the riding challenge. This week Turok will have the MVP perks and he is safe from elimination.
