Happy Wednesday! It’s been a great (& busy) month to start off the year and our GamersUnitedGG Blogging Competition comes to a close today. We have had 3 awesome participants building their own video game and I think that the responses were fantastic in each instance. At the end of Week 2 we had a tie for 1st place between Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie and Daniel from Home Button. Flying Colours has been a great participant and mathematically locked in the 3rd Place prize. Let’s analyze each of the 3 participant’s video games and award the final points to determine the winner.
Flying Colours was the first participant and took a different path than the other 2. Colours placed their responses in the comments of each prompt and came up with a video game that I think is a superhero adventure. The main character was tall, dark and handsome with awesome abilities like flying (I see what you did there) and mind reading. In week 2 we meet a villain that is obsessed with power and control.
Pix1001 really piqued my interest the first week with the main character Osha that I really liked. Osha is a nerdy girl that wants to save the planet, not just it’s inhabitants, but the environment as well. Pix provided a very detailed description of the main character and the description was vivid enough to paint a picture in my head which was awesome! In week 2 Osha’s nemesis and the main villain of the gain was a political mastermind called Mira. Mira is an extremely intelligent villain that did not always start out as an evil mastermind. Mira seems to have become jaded with the way people in the world are and is planning to destroy everything and use the presious resources of the planet to escape to another world. A great villain is relatable and has a story that draws you in and feel as if Mira exemplifies those characteristics. Going into the final week I was questioning how battling would work but Pix delivered! She answered that in her week 3 response with the party battle system. We find out that the game takes place on a planet called Gaia and that you are playing a JRPG game. The game will launch as a Nintendo Switch Exclusive.
To Pix: “You set distinct goals and it made sense. I loved the dialogue inclusion in your game. Some of the best games have sassy one liners or undercutting remarks that make the game smirk a little. Having your characters make colorful remarks is almost synonmous with Nintendo. I fell in love with your main character and most of your game mesh elements mesh together very well.”
Daniel took yet another approach from the other 2 Players by starting his posts as a dossier or FBI type rundown. I immediately envisioned the voice from unsolved mysteries in the opening package to the game running down the file on Jin Usagi while the typewriter sound plays in the back. In week 1 we are privy to the confidential file of the truth tellers who we find out later are actually the villains. Jin is a man with considerable skill and was apart of the title organization known as Full Arsenal or F.A. In week 2 we get a glimpse of the organization and some of their members from a Truthers perspective. It’s a Suicide Squad type of feel where the government or people in power put together a band of rogues and mercenariess to form a special task team. But of course, being self aware the team realized that they could go out on their own and didn’t need bosses. In the final week Full Arsenal is unveiled at E3 2020 and the trailers along with the developers talk about how the game will function. It’s an open world, choice driven game that will launch on PS4 and Xbox One.
To Daniel: ” Your premise and your methods of delivering your game each week was exciting and a great read. Your character, plot and villains are all outstanding and I can see the game vividly in my head. I really like the choice driven aspect and the option to kill your enemy and take pieces of their armor or spare them and possibly turn them to your side. This element would be cool in many games today.”
All 3 Participants did an amazing job with their video games and thank you for participating. Here’s a reminder of the prizes:
- 1st Place will receive a large Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
- 2nd Place will receive a small Mystery Box of gaming and geeky items!
- 3rd Place will receive a giftcard!
And the Winner of the GamersUnitedGG competition is…
Pix1001 from Shoot the Rookie!
Congratulations to all 3 Players in the competition! I will reach out to each of you individually so that I can send your rewards. Don’t forget to give them a follow if you enjoy their blogs!
