Happy New Year Players! Today is the last entry in the Christmas Collaboration hosted by our friends over at Later Levels! It was a super fun blogging challenge that we took on and I am happy to say that we did not miss a day. Today’s Topic Is…
You wake up the following morning, hungover but happy – you have an entire day of gaming ahead of you. You start thinking back over the video games you played during 2017; what was your game of the year?
This question is one that we have answered in our Countdown to 2018: Top Games of 2017 post! Halo Wars 2 was my top game played in 2017. Halo Wars 2 is a RTS (Real Time Strategy) game and the sequel to Halo Wars which originally released on the Xbox 360. HW2 provided better game modes, characters with special abilities and a new story in which to explore.
I purchased HW2 with the Xbox One S the week of its release and played the story with my friend online. We had a fantastic time playing and it was one of the best experiences that I have had in gaming.
I can say that Final Fantasy XIV has been making a great impression on me, especially being my first Final Fantasy game. If I had more time to play FFXIV Online over the year, it may have creeped up on Halo Wars 2 and taken the top spot. I really enjoy RPG (Role Playing Games) mainly because I have this Gamer Grief thingy where I cannot complete the story in a game. For some reason, whenever I beat the story mode in a video game, I have no further interest in the game itself. This has been something that has plagued me throughout my lifetime as a gamer and is one of the main reasons I do not play Single Player games. One of my New Year Gaming resolutions will be to try out different genres of video games that I wouldn’t necessarily play. I picked up this resolution after reading yesterday’s Video Game Resolutions posts by some of our blogging buddies.
Thank you Kim for hosting such a fun event and I look forward to additional collaborations in 2018. Thank you to everyone who has participated in the event whether you have answered the questions, read the posts and or provided feedback. It has been about a year of blogging for me and this experience has taught me so much about writing and has given me the voice that I was searching for. I write about what I love and knowing that others enjoy what we put out is truly a gift in itself. I wish happiness, love and success for everyone in 2018.
