Game of Thrones S7 Finale

Happy Moonday Novas! Last night was the epic finale episode of Game of Thrones season 7 and we’re here on Monday morning to provide a recap and our thoughts.  Before you begin readin I will have a recap of some scenes so this is your official **Spoiler Alert, Spoiler Alert** warning!

The episode was the longest of the season tieing up a few loose ends that we wanted to see as the episode ran. We start with the Unsullied and Grey Worm standing outside of kings landing in a face off with Bronn and Jaime while Tyrion and Jon pull up to King’s Landing on the water. This scene was very intense and awesome as we see faces of characters that have not intereacted in some time. Similar to how the group Beyond the Wall talked through their differences, this group for peace were sizing each other up.

group-shot-game-of-thrones-season-7-finale-trailer

Brienne sees that the Hound is alive after she left him for dead a few seasons back. The Hound finds out that arya is alive from Brienne when they encounter each other at King’s Landing.

Cersei gives the mountain orders on who to kill first; Dany, Tyrion and Jon Snow in that order. Cersei the makes an entrance after the others are seated with Qyburn, Jaime, The Mountain and her army. Upon her arrival her disdain is obvious when she notices that Dany is not present. Of course, she had to make the grandest entrance on the back of Drogon with Rhaegal flying in the background.

All characters enter the dragon pit (where the meeting is to take place( and it’s as intense and eerie as we would expect. It’s quiet until Sandor and Gregor Clegane have a moment. The Hound confronts his older brother in front of everyone, then turns to retrieve the “surprise” for the audience. Since the interruptions have begun, the every brunt Euron calls out his nephew. Everyone sits back as Euron threatens to kill Yara if Theon does not surrender to him. Very bold move indeed and as expected Theon just sits there.

After everyone’s feelings are known, The Hound brings out the walker and lets him loose for everyone to see. Cersei and Jaime are visibly shaken by the creature and now understands the threat that everyone is talking about; or so we think. A scene that was interesting to me was when Qyburn, Cersei’s hand and the once outlawed maester, got up to examine the Undead hand of the walker. There’s something peculiar about that scene but I can’t quite figure out why it makes me uncomfortable.

After the demonstration and annialhation of the walker, Euron flees to the Iron Islands with the Iron Fleet. Later in the episode you find out that this was a plan all along by Cersei to allow Euron to take the Iron Fleet to pick up mercenaries. My question is, how did Cersei know when he would leave? Was it planned that no matter what they brought that Euron would turn tail and run?

cersei

So that’s enough of a recap as that was one of the most important scenes of the night. We expect Jon and Dany’s camp to be hopeful that Cersei will accept the truce, but we now that it’s not going to be an easy task. Cersei is bent on being the only ruler, she calls Dany out by saying “How do I know that you will not use my ceasefire to raise more armies to your cause?” This shows that Cersei has not intention of calling a truce with the enemy. She’s always thinking 1 step ahead, which is what makes her dangerous.

A follow-up scene that had my heart racing was Tyrion literally stepping into the Lions den. When he faced Cersei, I didn’t know what to think and since no one had died in the episode yet, I was really nervous. The standoff between both Cersei and Tyrion explained motives behind Cersei’s behavior even after knowing that he didn’t kill Joeffrey. Cersei straight up blames Tyrion for their family falling apart. She says that him killing their father Tywin, left the family open and unprotected in the views of everyone else. She states that Tommen and Myrcella’s deaths are direct results of people no longer fearing the Lannisters. Cersei played Tyrion, by not killing him she allowed him to believe that she was willing to call a truce to preserve what’s precious in life.

Another important scene was the trial of Arya. Sansa has been trained and manipulated by Littlefinger to think of the worst possible outcome. I’m not going to lie, this scene had me verry upset at Sansa, I just knew she was about to fall for another trap by Littlefinger. I’m super glad that I was wrong! Sansa, Arya and Bran all played littlefinger like a fiddle. I remember a few episodes ago when Bran gave Arya the dagger how I mentioned that Bran had to be plannin planninggn, well this was it. The same dagger that tore the family apart sliced open the throat of Littlefinger. It was epic, I was happy, all is good with the world in Winterfell.

In Winterfell Sam and Gilly arrive which reveals another great piece of information. We knew from a few episodes back that Jon was not a bastard and the heir to the thrrone. I did wonder how they married if Lyanna was “abducted.” Sam asked Bran if he could see the events now as he told him about the High Maester’s reports, wheeew, Sam was listening to Gilly! Bran, who is learning to control his abilities, went back to see that Lyanna and Rhaegar were in love and that the coo brought on by Robert Baratheon was a sham.

lyanna
Is it me or does Rhaegar look like Viscerys?

We also get Jon’s birth name; Aegon Targaryen!

This episode set a collision course for the next season. What will Jaime do now that he knows Cersei’s intentions and plans? Will Jon finaly find out his origin and what effect will this have on his relationship with Dany? What’s next for the Stark girls now that Littlefinger is a cold corpse? Most importantly, what will happen when Jon and Dany find out that Visceron is a part of the undead army? There’s so many moving parts for next season and I cannot wait!

Quotes:

“I was on trying to protect her.” -Brienne

“You and me both.”- The Hound

“I left this sh** city because I didnt want to die in it. Am I goimg to die in it?” -Hound

“The king of the north will not take sides.  I know that Ned Stark’s son will be true to his word.” – cersei

“I’m about to step into a room with the most murderous woman in the world, who has already tried to kill me twice… that I know of. Who is the idiot?” – Tyrion

“I’ve traveled all over the world and this is the only thing that’s scared me.” -Euron

“I loved your mother since I was a boy.” -Littlefinger  “and you betrayed her.” -Sansa , “I’ve loved you the most.” -Little Finger , “And you betrayed me.” Sansa.

Notable Scenes:

  • Jaime challenging Cersei
  • Cersei noticing 2 dragons instead of 3
  • Ending scene of the Night King coming through the wall

Let’s just all take a moment to realize how incredibly smart Cersei is. She’s probably the smartest character in the show and you can’t helo but admire her. I can see why Sansa was infatuated with her during her time at King’s Landing. Ok, that’s enough of my thoughts, what did yuo think about the episode? What di you think will happen in season 8? Who’s dying first out of the characters that we have remaining? Let’s talk Game of Thrones!

Memoirs of a Villain: The Joker

uproxx

The glass seemed fuller when I ordered my drink. Oh well, it wouldn’t be the first time that I was slighted. Look at me, I was on top of the world a week ago, money in my pocket, love in the air (literally, I blew up 2 lovebirds) and not a doubt in my mind that I would be crowned the best Matchmaker in the land.  Alas, the life of a villain isn’t all glitz and glam, we villains have it tougher than the rest. This memoir is to all aspiring villains out there, it’s a message to not give up when the world is against you and it’s a call to arms to once and for all carve your place in history and TAKE BACK WHAT’S YOURS!

I received a call about finding a match for a poor, useless soul in a competition. Harley was away on some kind of wellness retreat, go figure, so I had some free time ahead and thought, why not? What better way could I find to spend my time than to help someone ruin their life forever, oh and I had a brand new suit that I was dyingggg to wear!

During my intial research, which consisted of looking at a picture and performing a quick Google search, hey I’m a busy clown, I found out that this Malboro fellow was stacked! He’d made so much money off of the Final Fantasy Franchise that it was ridiculous, and he is a villain! A man or plant after my own heart.  So I thought, why not use his fortunes to better the world for other villains, I was a philantrophist, a villain’s rights activist, a pillar of the community for crime and self gain. It was my responsibility to bring him into the fold.

Poison Ivy was the best option. She loves little green men, am I right? She agreed to marry him so that we can have access to his money, but she refused to dispose of him so that we can get filthy rich! All I did was make a litle call to my notary and had him adjust the marriage certificate that both Ivy and Malboro were to sign before the wedding. I added in a little clause of life insurance saying that should something happen to both the bride and the groom, that the sole beneficiary of all of their property would be… well ME!

As the two lovebirds said their vows and engage in a life of marriage, I remembered how marriage can put stress on a relationship. I remembered how my parents were after a few years, after the novelty of love wore off. I didn’t want my dear friend Ivy or new comrade in vile villainy to go through the hardships of a relationship crumbling. I wanted them to be happy, with smiles on their faces for the rest of their lives… So I blew them up! Not out of greed or the convenient life insurance policy that I was about to cash in, but for the love. For endless love! They died together on the happiest day of their lives, wth smiles from ear to ear. Read their love story by clicking here!

But no one understood. I was being called a selfish heathen. Even the millions of dollars that I inherited didn’t make me feel better. But, I was able to buy some new gadgets! There’s only one thing that makes me feel better… total chaos!

“Pour me another round barkeep! Hello?” Grabbing for the bottle of Jack left on the counter. “It’s hard to find quality service these days.” I gulp down afew swigs straight from the bottle. Sirens are screeching outside, the loud crash of chaos turns my frown into the devious smile that i’ve missed these past hours. “They’re here!”  I wipe my mouth and pour the rest of the drink on the bar, passing the unconscious bartendar.

Reaching into my pocket I bring out the small, lighter, with the features of it’s master. I slide my thumb over the pertruding white nose of the clown in disgust and flick open the top of the clown’s head. “Hmm I’ve got to talk to the patent office, this doesn’t look that much like me.” Fire!

“It’s showtime!” I light the end of my cigar that I have taken off of the bartender. “Can’t let this go to waste.” 3 Puffs and the clown lighter goes flying through the air as I walk onto the streets of rage where my minions have gathered. I rally my protege’s in the most invigorating speech since brave heart! “We will take back what’s ours! We Will rule as the princes of the world. Today, is the day of the Clown and this time, we’re not joking around!” Another rush of tears, this is the 2nd happiest day of my life! Now the real games can begin!

jokerorigins

Thank you for reading the first installment of Memoirs of a Villain. This series of  fun posts will serve as a Memoir or Journal entry from some of my favorite villains. A few months ago I purchased a cool Journal that had the Joker on it and the first few pages of the journal had a journal entry form the Joker in it. I thought this was really cool and I came up with the idea to do journal entries from famous villains for the blog.  I started with my favorite the Joker and used the friendly Blogger Blitz competition as his motive. Tune in next week to see who’s taking their turn!

A Watchman To Look Out For

harper-lee-watchman

Hello all! Hope you’re having a good Saturday and excellent week! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, things have been a bit hectic what with starting a new job and having life get back to normal, or semi-normal at the most.

Today I’m not writing on a Netflix/Hulu series (that won’t probably be till next week), but I’m writing on something else different–a book review! I used to write loads of these for my high school paper, and I didn’t see very many on them on here, so I figured I would write one for you all this weekend. You’re welcome. 🙂

The book I’m reviewing today is Harper Lee’s Go Set A Watchman. If the title sounds vaguely familiar, I did mention this novel in passing in one of my other reviews on this blog. It is closely related to To Kill A Mockingbird, which people are more acquainted with (whether by the original  book itself or the 1962 film adaptation). Even though it was written in the mid-1950s, it was not published until 2015, four years after being discovered in a safety deposit box. Now, I know there will be speculation about whether or not it is a sequel to Mockingbird, and I will leave that up to you completely. I’m just here to review it and nothing more.

Go Set A Watchman follows Jean Louise Finch (otherwise known as “Scout” and one of the main characters in Mockingbird as well) as she goes back home to Maycomb, Alabama, for an annual two week visit. She is now 26 years old, and living in New York where she has been working. As the novel progresses, we see events and revelations unfold that lead us to realize that things and people have changed since Mockingbird ended, leaving Jean Louise with more clarity and reflection–especially about her own father, Atticus.

I will admit, this novel is definitely not an easy read, and even more especially now, with the recent spike in racial issues and hate crimes. But it’s one that should not be missed or ignored either. Ever since I bought it, I have read it quite a few times since then. I give it a 5/5.

With that said, I hope all of you enjoyed this book review, and I will see you next week!

Doki Doki Crate Unboxing W/ Xsanie!

Happy Saturday Novas! Today’s unboxing post will be sponsored by my friend Stephanie (Xsanie). I spent last week with Steph in a different state and she received her Japanese goodies crate. A lightbulb popped in my head immediately and I asked her if we could feature the unboxing on the blog! She agreed and now, here we are!

This month’s theme was Back to School!

20170814_134804

Stephanie loves the cutesy anime items, so she signs up for different subscription crates that ship internationally. The Doki Doki crates have cutesy items and collectibles that you can’t really find domestically.

20170814_134533
Look, even the poster girl has one!

The Ball point pen was really cute and it pairs well with the Letter set and Notepad!

20170814_134559
He’s realllly cute though!

The Totoro Cup she really loved (I have no idea who totoro is).

20170814_134546-1
I tried to smuggle the owl home with me lol!

The plushie was really cute and her owl is white.

She received another Kakigori Hoppe Chan keychain. The funny part is that she broke the one on her phone the night before the crate arrived! Instant replacement. (I can’t find the picture that I took lol)

20170814_134610
Mmmmm…

She also received this snack candy thing. It’s like Cheetos puffs, but they’re sweet and kind of weird. I didn’t like them because they were sweet but then had a fizzy taste, like soda. She loved it and so did everyone else who tried them lol.

20170814_134628
Cute!

It wouldn’t be an anime crate without a piece of clothing. This crate brought a cute ribbon that you can wear in your hair or on your clothes.

She was really happy with the items in her Doki Doki crate! Do you receive any international or uncommon subscription services? Let’s talk collectibles!

Sky Islands Mobile Game Review!

Happy Thursday Novas! Earlier this week on the Friendly Trends post, I told you that my friend Stephanie introduced me to a new mobile game called Sky Islands, so why not write up a review?!

Title: Sky Island Anime Avatar World

Publisher: Suga Studio

Devices: Android Systems

Audience: Simulation Game Rated E (Everyone)

Premise: Sky Islands is a mobile MMORPG game that allows the players to make money by running a resort! You start off with a villa that you can decorate and rent out to patrons. Renting, cleaning and decorating the villas is your task. You can serve your guests food to gain additional money. Like any MMORPG Game you are able to fully customize your character’s appearance. Screenshot_20170819-123757

Gameplay: You are greeted by Milky; a cat butler that is sent to help and serve you. This game is very anime, so you are referred to as “Master” throughout the game.

You also take charge of a garden where you can grow different fruits. The fruits have different uses like serving customers food, upgrading items in your villas or dyeing your clothing and hair! You can unlock different hair styles, features, clothing and accessories at higher levels.Screenshot_20170819-123918

Mini Games- When you are waiting for tenants to leave or crops to grow, you can take advantage of different mini games to gain extra revenue. One of the most popular mini games will be the Pinata Party.

  1. Pinata Party At Pinata Parties each guest donates 2 candies when they enter the host’s hot spring. The host can start the party once 10 candies are received. When the party starts, pinatas will start popping up over your screen and your goal is to tap as many pinatas as possible before time runs out (kind of like whack a mole). The top 3 players get to click on a prize box to receve coins or gems. Everyone else gets 100 coins as a consolation prize.
  2. Cuttlefishing – Cuttlefishing is a mini game that you can play solo or with a group. There is a time limit and you use a boat with 3 different hooks to try and catch fish. The best method is to try and catch the most combined weight of the fish. the larger fish will be at the bottom and are often blocked by obstacles like rocks, while the smaller fish are closer to the boat and easier to catch. You win coins based on the most combined weight.
  3. Treasure Hunt – There’s a treasure hunt party in which 2 or more players try and collect the most treasures. The kicker with this game is that it’s mostly luck. You roll the die and take the number of steps displayed. To catch treasure, you have to land exactly on the treasure space; yup, you can pass right by the treasures and have to circle the map to get back. I do like that there are power-ups on the map that can help prevent others from winning.
  4. Word Guess – Every 2 hours players can head to a community park and participate in the word guess game. You will be given a question with a blank and you only need to guess the letter that is inside of the word used to complete the sentence or question. Even if you don’t know the answer, you can guess a letter and win!
  5. Hunting Area – The hunting area is my least favorte activity. It’s pretty much fishing, but you have to keep tapping the line to reel in the animal. The larger the animal, the harder it is to reel in. It’s not my cup of tea and it hurt my finger playing the game lol.

Quests and Areas – You can also earn money by completing various quests on the game. Each day, you wil have a list of Daily Quests to complete. Upon completion, you receive XP and coins. There are also developmental tasks that give you more exerience and coins than the daily tasks. Screenshot_20170819-123744

There are different areas that you can visit like the Community Park, Friend’s Hotspring, Hunting Area and Treasure Island. These areas can be accessed by clicking on the World Compass. Each area has a different mini game and activities.

There are additional community activities like Fashion Shows and Boss battles (I haven’t been on to play any of these events yet as they are more infrequent).

Final Thoughts: I really like the game. It is targeted to anime fans, and I think it is targeted a bit more towards females, but I’ve seen plenty of males playing as well. It’s a great social networking game; as you benefit more from having friends that can send you candies, needed for tasks like the Pinata Parties. I feel like the graphics are what you would expect from any anime type game and the colors definitely fit the part.

As with all of my reviews, my top reasons to “Play” or “Skip” Sky Islands is listed below!

Play:

  • An addictive world building game like Farmville
  • Free To Play
  • A nice blend of activities

Skip:

  • Do not like Player Development games
  • Can be Pay To Play to advance faster in the game
  • Prefer more action

Thank you for reading the mobile game review! Have you heard of Sky Islands? What type of mobile games are you currenlty playing? Let’s talk mobile gaming!

Friendly Trends Ep 2: New Addictions

Happy Wednesday Novas! Thank you for reading the second installation of the Friendly Trends post! This segment will pretty much discuss some of the trends that my friends have “Put Me On” to and it’s my way of sharing these trends with you! The first segment was me talking about some of the Guilty Pleasure trends that I was put on to. Check out that post by clicking here!

Today, we will go over a few new addictions that I was introduced to. Starting with a few YouTubers and music!

My co-worker Megan (nagems21) was telling me about some great YouTubers that perform covers to songs. William Singe and Alex Aiono perform some of the top songs today in collaboration and separately. They’re flipping amazing!!!! Here’s my favorite collaboration.

I now have discovered a few more awesome YouTubers who perform covers and I love it! Here’s another one of my favorite covers by Alex and it’s a song that Selena put me on to.

One of my best friends Stephanie got me hooked on this new mobile game called Sky Islands (game review coming soon). Sky Islands is pretty much a mobile RPG anime game where you make money running your very own villa! You grow crops, serve guests, play Pinata Parties and other little mini games, while you collect rent from renters at your villas. Steph has been playing this game for a few weeks now and she spends HOURS on it! It’s actually pretty fun. During my trip up their last week Stephanie, myself and her little sister were jumping into Pinata Parties and taking the top 3 spots everytime! Screenshot_20170815-161921

My friend Selena also put me on to different music that I wasn’t aware of. I go to Selena for the latest Hip Hop and R&B hits because she’s always “Woke” (her words lol). Some of the songs that she has put me on to is “Don’t Mind” by Kent Jones, Torey Lane’s “Proud Family Remix” and “Or Nah” by Ty Dolla Sign. “Or Nah” is explicit so I recommend the edited version lol.

What are some new addictions that you were put on to by your friends? Do you find yourself developing new hobbies that your friends have? Let’s talk Friendly Trends!

Late Night Thoughts: Writing Dilemmas!

Happy Wednesday Novas! Thank you for reading my discussion post at 3am in the morning! I have a dilemma and I would love to know your thoughts. I have prepped in advance posts that are scheduled to go up this week because I wanted to take a break from writing. I felt as if the quality of my posts were starting to decrease and feel rushed so I said that after Monday, I would take a break until Sunday. BUT NOW I HAVE ALL OF THESE IDEAS IN MY HEAD THAT I WANT TO WRITE ABOUT!!!! What should I do?

CQjQqxCWUAAyTx4

I think that taking a break is a great way to recharge and let your creativity reset. But what if it resets on it’s own before the time frame that you have slotted out? Should I continue taking the break or should I put pen to paper or words to laptop and let all of my ideas flow out? I think I’ve gotten in the habit of setting time aside each day to write something and now, I just feel like I should be writing. What woud you do?

Share your thoughts with me? What would you do? Should I continue the break or start back writing because the inspiration is there? What are some tips? Let’s talk, late night thoughts!
